Jack Dusty Coastal Cuisine and Crafted Cocktails
Food quality was compromised due to an effort to be different.
Everything was perfect. The food, the service and the atmosphere. Wouldn’t change a thing. Can’t wait to go back.
Food was amazing. Servers at both the bar and our table went above and beyond in service and meeting our requests.
We have been staying at the Ritz Carlton for a few days and have been quite busy so a hotel restaurant should have worked. We’ve had numerous meals here - raw fish appetizers are good - don’t order anything cooked! Inedible! With the exception of 1 or 2 servers the rest are useless - they bring your food and disappear! Last night we waited 1 hour for bread - the order was all wrong!
A must avoid unless you are staying at the Ritz Carlton and too tired to leave your hotel.
This is the second time I've enjoyed lunch here with a friend. The fried green tomatoes were excellent! The only small drawback that surprised me was the condition of the seat cushion at the table where we sat. My cushion was soiled and in need of a bath with soap...
Everything was lovely but I got to say I was very disappointed with my filet mignon !
It Was not quite an inch thick and I asked for Med Rare
And it was Med/Well. I’ve always had such good food here but not tonight. They did have a function going on so maybe it was an over sight or super busy. I should of sent it back or taken a picture . But at almost 40.00 you should expect a better piece of meat.
Exceptional service, great view, outstanding food especially the brown bread, made with lots of molasses baked in a can!!
We went to JD for their New Years Day brunch. Our server, Jackie, was outstanding. We had the eggs benedict and the corned beef and hash. The food was good but not as good as the breakfasts at Station 400.
Booked a table for News Years Eve outside about a month in advance. Was bumped inside once we arrived.
Food and service was ok. Have had better experiences at the restaurant.
Very good but service was surprisingly a little lacking. I have a home on longboat key and frequent this hotel often. We went with another couple on December 30 which I understand is a busy time. Appetizers came out timely. New salads added to the menu are good but Caesar salad which is good could use a new presentation, simply romaine chopped up with croutons in a bowl, could be ritzier. Entrees of grouper and pork chops were well made but could have more local fish dishes. Salmon , grouper and Mahi are becoming limited month after month. Server, I think ,Jennifer was hard working, but no pleasantries,I was a little shocked and taken back. Hard working but I am expecting the usual ritz gentility and manners, not that night unfortunately. On a different note we also want to the ritz for Christmas brunch which was exceptional. Our servers at that brunch, Susan and Sebastian, also exceptional. Put the ritz holiday events on your must do list.
This was our fourth visit to Jack Dusty in the past year, and we have loved it each time.
The food is wonderful. The drinks are plentiful, and the patio ambiance is unmatched in
Sarasota. My favorite is the cioppino, but my wife and kids had the grouper, and raved
about it. If you still have room for more, the desserts are also terrific.
Everything you’d expect from a restaurant at the Ritz. Although, you can keep it more casual here if you don’t want to get glammed up.
From the moment we arrived it was chaotic. The noise level was such security had to be called. That didn’t help. We moved to an outside table noise level was better service was still terrible.
Hotel prices you’d expect at the Ritz. Food good but nothing amazing. Nice atmosphere for a special occasion but better restaurants in Sarasota available for less
Girls night, holiday celebration
The four of us had an early pre-theatre dinner here. The best choice turned out to be the pork chop, perfectly done and served hot. My clam linguine was similarly delicious. Two entrees arrived not as hot as they should have been. Overall, a pleasant and timely dinner.
Dinner was delicious! Our waiter, Jeff, did an outstanding job. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
A Special Festival evening, Happy we chose JD as the venue again.
Always consistent. We have eaten here many times and enjoyed the dining experience. Not a typical hotel dining room. Will be back soon again.
Our waiter was fantastic as was the restaurant manager who came over to say hello. Downsides were no Old Bay on the peel and eat, which we had loved on a previous visit. Removal of the scrumptious Dusty bread before we had finished. Everything else was great though. My Spinach and Chickpea salad was truly special.
Great service and food! We enjoyed an early dinner — during cocktail hour in the lounge, so it was a little on the noisy side. Otherwise, a nice dinner. We’ll definitely be back again soon!
Noise level is not "energetic" - it's just plain "loud" - from the music blaring at a wedding to customers halfway across the patio yelling into their cell phone. Food is good but server was poorly trained and he badly handled a difficult situation. Manager tried to remedy situation but too little, too late. Pity - could be nice if they paid more attention to what was going on un the restaurant. No desire to return.
Phenomenal atmosphere and service. The food was good not great especially for the price. It's in the Ritz so of course it's expensive but the quality and taste and uniqueness just didn't warrant the price.
The food and setting are just super. But why oh why did you remove the donuts from the dessert menu.
I’d travel 1000 miles for that dessert.
Our server Helen was excellent!! It got overly busy she handled like a pro and even had time to talk to to us about our meal
Very good lobster roll. I loved the brown bread / the special butter!!!!! Great atmosphere sitting outside and wonderful service! Great Bloody Mary too!
I don't usually write reviews but I had to share, this place was so overpriced for the quality of food. Our drinks were flat, scallops over salted, cauliflower steak was very small for $28 price. Each person paid $100 and we left hungry. not coming to Jack Dusty for a while now.
The service was fantastic!! The location in the Ritz is great and the views are amazing. Unfortunately the food wasn’t very good. We had soup / salad and five apps as entrees so maybe the entrees would have redeemed it.
Wife and I visited Jack Dusty for our 30th Anniversary. We had a lovely time. The décor is warm and casual. The food was delicious. The Himachi appetizer blew my mind. The meat was so buttery, and cut across grain so it was super tender, and was served with this delicate lemon foam. Nice touch with the fish. My wife’s special of the day – Mahi – was so good, I ended up stealing bites from her plate probably more than I should have.
What really impressed me the most, though, was the service. We had a reservation, checked in and were seated by the hostess. She welcomed us by name, and wished us a happy anniversary. When the server arrived and introduced himself to us, he called us by name!! That impressed me that he took the time to look that up before coming to our table. He, and the other servers, were friendly all evening.
A point of note that I feel compelled to offer for those wishing to celebrate something significant and romantic, so expectations are realistically set. This is a restaurant in a hotel, and as such, the guests of the hotel may come in to the restaurant in a more casual state of mind. The man sitting next to us was wearing shorts and a jogging shirt. Two men were seated on the other side of us, wearing pants with plastic slides. The bar was crowded with the after-work group watching a sports game on TV. Given that this restaurant was in the Ritz-Carlton, I was expecting a more exclusive and romantic dining experience. And although we had a lovely time, my expectations of a quiet, romantic evening fell just short of that. If you are looking for a more casual evening, then this place is tops. I will return, but likely not for my anniversary dinner.
Once more excellent overall.
The seafood and service is the very best in Sarasota . Jen is an excellent service lady who handles everything first class .
It was ok but nothing special. The price to value ratio was not in the consumer best interest.
Our server, a young man, was superb! Salad & entree were excellent, though dessert was rather disappointing. Noise level made conversation challenging. Dinner was a bit overpriced.
If you want to fit in at this restaurant dress VERY casually. Flip flops and an old t shirt are appropriate.
Sat delightfully outside...wonderful service and great food.
Great service and wonderful ambiance.
Our waiter Alex was amazing! He made the experience so enjoyable!
From the time you arrive at the front door till you leave, the service is absolutely fantastic. This coupled with excellent food and views makes for an enjoyable evening.
