Went for New Year's Eve before going out to celebrate. All the tables were set with hats, noise makers and other trinkets. Service was friendly and quick. Food was very good, limited menu, but had good choices. Nice wine choices from Long Island vineyards. They had a special menu with included crab cake hush puppies, that were great! Excelent stop in Weehawken with a great view of NYC and free parking.
The prices are outrageously high for the skimpy portions they serve. The salmon dinner ($24) and brisket dinner ($26) were appetizer-sized portions. They tried to fill in the empty space on the salmon plate with a half lemon. The baked beans had about 20 beans in a tiny pot. No bread basket. Do yourself a favor and skip this stingy place. Plus the ladies room was filthy (toilet paper all over the wet floor- gross).
This was my first time setting reservations for OpenTable. It was very nice being about to reserve a spot and it be ready as soon as we got in. Being right next to the Lincoln Harbor ferry was a plus. It was excellent food and the wait staff was great!
Excellent place to hang and unwind! Beautiful location and great proximity to the city
Solid lunch spot!
The service was great. Our meals were delicious and we loved your ambiance, especially the poodle lamps. We will definitely return. Thank you.
Was at Jack Austin's for a bite on New Year's Eve. The food service and view are just great. There was a pre wedding party going on so the place was filled with happy dressed up fokes, which added to the pre New Year's celebration. This American style restaurant has a small but nice selection. They also have local wines from Long Island, which add to the experience. The view of NYC is fabulous and FREE parking!
This was pretty much a classic hotel bar/restaurant, but Happy hour food was really pretty good. The house wines are good, and service was good.
I ordered a steak.... not the kind of restaurant for steaks, but burgers, sandwiches, fish tacos and appetizers were good. Great view!!!! Super friendly bartenders...ask for Moody.
Second time at the restaurant thinking that the first time and the bad experience was a fluke. It wasn't a fluke. The service here is terrible and the food is average.
Nice spot for our anniversary dinner. Plenty of gluten free options and great views of Manhattan
Great meal. Great evening.
Jack Austin's is a good venue for a moderate-size business meeting of 5 to 6 participants, especially if the meeting has a casual flavor. The noise level of evenings is just enough that a bigger group would have trouble communicating back and forth. Otherwise, it makes for a nice, comfortable environment with scalable dishes, good drinks and a warm atmosphere with attentive service.
Unfortunately the experience wasn't great. The service was terrific. However, the food was not good. For the children's meal, they put spicy pepper jack cheese on the grilled cheese. Not ideal for a small child, they said the grilled chicken sandwich was a breast, but it came out as grilled thighs (not appealing) and the fish tacos were dry and very little fish. Mostly covered by onions and cabbage. So the food really hurt the experience.
But I will say our server was great and made up for it.
I came to this restaurant when it first opened and a later time for my birthday. Both times I thoroughly enjoyed what came out of the kitchen. The service was noteworthy, especially the friendly manager making his way around whole restaurant. The bar is vibrant and is frequented by business men and women who have just gotten off the ferry from the city. The food is a modern take on Southern comfort food. They say everything goes well with bacon and this place has that wonderful ingredient in spades. Coupled with the fact that it has a wonderful view of the city right across the harbor, it is a restaurant worth at least one visit. I have no doubt that like myself you would make another trip.
Wasn't thrilled with the food - needs improvement
View was good
Went here for the first time Saturday night. It was pretty good and much quieter than I expected for a new spot. Especially since it's connected to the Sheraton hotel. I had the Fish Tacos, which were just OK. There may have been 2 oz of fish on three little tacos, (if I was lucky), and no sides whatsoever.
My boyfriend, however, got one of their special burgers with onion jam, bacon, Gruyere, etc. and that was FANTASTIC! Some of the best hickory smoked bacon I've ever tasted.
We tried two of the specialty cocktails and they were tasty, but not worth the price. Very little alcohol and not entirely representative of the description on the drink menu. I think you're better off ordering you're own beverage of choice.
IMO, this place is good for high-end burgers and meat, but I would be a bit more cautious ordering lighter items like fish, etc. Again, the tacos weren't bad, but there was VERY little food there for an entree and they were just average.
Staff was accommodating and very helpful. My girlfriend ordered a dirty martini with Blue Cheese stuffed olives, which they didn't have, but without question immediately offered to make them up on the spot.
Also she left her glasses at the table and they kept them safe and sound until we picked them up the following afternoon.
View was nice
Everything else was like going to a Friday's
Great to sit outside by the water!
Bring back the turkey burger!
Food took forever to come out and the pancakes we ordered for our kids were undercooked
This is a decent lunch spot in a foodie wasteland. The only other places nearby are Houlihan's, Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, which is not open for lunch during the week, and Subway.
For a breakfast it is very expensive place, nothing special out of this world, I believe you are paying for the view and location, I will definitely no coming back.
