About Jack Astor's - Square One
Our mission? Great people helping other great people totally have a blast while enjoying amazing food. Wow, that was a mouthful. But can you blame us? We’re a restaurant. One that specializes in delicious food and great times. Our goal is to make you laugh. And depending on your hot sauce tolerance, cry.
In all seriousness, we take real pride in our food. Try our Cluckin’ Fresh Chicken Fingers, made and seasoned with fresh, never frozen chicken tenders. This isn’t run-of-the-mill pub grub. Our Band of Chefs are influenced by a wide variety of tastes and have travelled across the globe to gain inspiration.
But outside of the kitchen, we find it hard to take ourselves seriously. We have an Elvis booth. For no particular reason. Folks, that really does say it all. We’re sports fanatics, music nuts and love a good joke. If you’re into at least one of those things, we should hang out.

Jack Astor's - Square One Ratings and Reviews
My soup (their signature cheese n beer) was cold. It was replaced without issue however it took awhile to get the second bowl. I left a note regarding providing a desert to my colleague which was not seen or acted upon...I had to tell the waitress in front of my colleague and it should have been a surprise. But the server was excellent and once replaced the food was delicious.
Our server (Eddie) was friendly and attentive. There was also a nice selection of beers. Unfortunately the food was very disappointing. 5 of the 6 of us ordered burgers and when they arrived we found them to be very over-cooked (dry, grey, with almost crunchy exterior) and very tiny. We were not impressed and probably should have gone anywhere else for dinner.
The food was tasty but I was disappointed in the serving size. I had a shrimp fajita. There was a good amount of shrimp but they really cheated out on the vegetables. There was 4 or 5 slivers of pepper and about the same of onion. It's a pity that they did well with the flavour and the quantity of shrimp but skimped on the least expensive ingredient. When I told the waiter he shrugged his shoulders and said that he understood
Our waitress Helen was not on the ball. She forgot the special menu we asked for, drinks took long to get to us and the restaurant was not busy. We order two Festive specials and they were out of Hershey Kisses and no attempt to replace it with something else or possibly a reduction in price. She forgot a coffee order. Only came to the table once to check if we were doing fine. We were celebrating two birthdays that day and we wanted it to be extra special and we told her so. We did receive two brownies and they sang their celebration song. However, the personal touch was not there. She did the basic service and did not appear to want to be there. As a prior restaurant owner I will say that service is not for her. My guests were even disappointed. I gave her a tip but did it reluctantly. I did not want the party be any more diminished.
I always love coming here. The servers are always fun, energetic, and super helpful! The atmosphere is very casual and relaxed, yet you can also show up for formal event. The food is always great! And its not too bad on the wallet!
Plus the Lobster & Crab dip appetizer is to die for in my opinion.
Yeah, I've been going to Jack Astor's for years now and this location in particular for...well, longer than I care to admit. The decor and the menu have changed some but it's still the same basic idea: fun atmosphere but not TOO loud, friendly service, a vibrant decor and surprisingly good grub for a chain restaurant.
Sure the wine list isn't great, some of the drink concoctions are misses and I've even had a bad server or two over the years. But when it comes down to it, I rarely leave unhappy and I've been many a time.
Oh and I do love that they have tofu fajitas for us vegetarians rather than just "no meat". Protein...and rather tasty. THANK YOU!
we were seated very quickly, food was fresh and hot, the waiter knew what he was talking about and every server we came across was polite and informative, only issue was once i paid and gave the waiter a very nice tip for all his help, he slammed the receipt on the table and walked off. i guess the service only lasts until the very moment they have your money.
A great Venue to watch the Hockey Finals.
The split screen on the Main TV's are a bit distracting.
However, once there was a consencus to watch the IHF Hockey Final, the Manager agreed to show the Game on the Large Screen.
A wise decision OR there would have been an exodus to another Venue, nearby.
Very busy and upbeat ..great for kids. Service very friendly and everyone helped each other out to serve the table. But servo was slow and the meals came at different times for different people. Children's pasta was overcooked But the asiago bow tie pasta, nachos, kids taco, and lettuce wraps were fresh and tasted good. Server Aylia was very nice
This time around, we ordered the fajitas and the lobster and crab dip and our group liked it so much that we have to order another one! Very tasty and and creamy... Yummmmmy! Although kind of disappointed that their guacamole is not free for refill, you need to pay extra even though you had it initially ordered it with fajitas
It's been a while since I went back to eat here. We enjoyed their food especially the fajitas. It was quite a big serving so it can be shared between 2 people for 1 order. The only thing I didn't like about it is that it seems they use the wrong steak for the fajitas. There were so much chewy parts like ligaments which makes it difficult to bite. But overall, it was very tasty. Will try the lobster dip next time
Good to dine out - love the food selection. We always go back to this place on special occassion. Price was reasonable and service was fast. Only thing is - sometimes their sounds is too loud. You could hardly hear each other from your table. Generally, this place was good!
I have not eaten at a Jack Astor's in 2 years so I thought that it is about time I pay them another visit. The decor has not changed much and the food was good as always. Nothing special just your standard meat and potatoes type menu. Our waiter on the other hand was vey good and funny. Overall a great dinning experience. Definitely will be back
