On the edge of Old Town San Diego near hotel and convention center circle. Very good Italian specialties. Good service.
Our server was very attentive and the food was authentic and delicious
Wouldn't have expected Old Town to have a really good Italian restaurant (seems like everything else is Mexican). But the food was excellent. A couple of us had nice shrimp scampi dishes (mine had a good pesto), and another person had an excellent pasta ("swallow's nest"). Service was very attentive at first; a little delayed toward the end due to a large party next door diverting the staff's attention. According to my sister, this restaurant was originally Giulio's in Pacific Beach decades ago, so they've been around a long time.
I love the authenticity of the food but the ambiance out on the patio kind of ruins the experience. We were forced to sit out there during Valentine's day because she had to "rotate the tables", which shouldn't be my problem. I suggest you invest in a better outdoor dining experience. Otherwise it felt like I was sitting on cheap furniture on the side of my house. The server was outstanding and the food was delicious...just the ambiance sort of ruined it all.
The food was amazing and the restaurant was a very romantic setting for Valentines Day!
Still just as amazing as it was almost 20 years ago!
Excellent Italian food where the pasta is made in the kitchen. Very quiet, cozy and romantic if you wish. Good place to come for a date night or if you just like good, Italian food.
Veal Parmigiana =THE BEST! Need to know that name of the Cabernet Savignon I had = THE BEST. Sergio = THE BEST. It's our 2nd time. We LOVE this place and will come again!!! Thank you for the best food, service, atmosphere, etc. PERFECT :) Bob and Barb Hill
Food was fantastic and the service was just as good. The 5 of us had a great evening there together and will be back soon, no question. Loved it.
We've been coming for 30 years and love the place!
We went on a recommendation from a fellow traveler and it was well worth while. Service was very good food was most excellent
Great food, Great service. The best scampi that I have ever had!!
Jack and Giulio’s has been my go to resturant for years. Out of town guests always rave about the food, especially Scampi Alla Guilio. This occasion was diner befor the play Hamilton! We invited fiends from La Jolla and they loved it. Jack is the consummate host that makes your dinning experience unforgettable! This restaurant is a gem in San Diego! Located in old town that is fun in its self! You won’t be disappointed! Thanks Jack!
The Scampi ala Guilio is fantastic and over the years that I've been eating it first at Giulio's in PB and now Jack and Guilio's they have kept it exactly the way it has always been. Absolutely love it!
It was such a lovely dinner because of the FOOD! I live right across the street and I need to come more often. The waiters are very attentive too! Thank you for a lovely evening!
Overall, it was a pleasant experience...but there were a few things I was disappointed.
#1....the shrimp was delicious but canned mushrooms???
#2....the penne was from a box ...for the price we pay I would expect homemade pasta or at least cooked al dente
#3...the chocolate mousse was good but canned whipped cream...YIKES
Our go to Italian. .... Always so delicious!!! All of our out of town guests love it here, too!
We have been coming here for many years for new years eve. This year we moved to Arizona but still came back to San Diego to dine on NYE. We brought two other couples who had not been here before and they are now hooked! Love this place!
I have been going here for 40 years and have never been disappointed. The scampi are particularly good as are the classic Italian dishes such as veal, pasta. Service is friendly and timely.
Enjoyed our post-Christmas dinner especially the J&G Manhattan and Margarita. Garlic bread was excellent and entrees very good. Would dine here again
