We have enjoyed J/G dining on previous occasions. Our youngest daughter and her husband shared their wedding reception with family and friends at J/G. Each time we return, food is the same high quality; service is throughly professional and the atmosphere is conducive to conversation. I request the same enter each time (Fra Diablo) and it is always delicious! Jack and Giulio's is our first recommendation when friends ask for advice about Italian cuisine in San Diego.
A favorite spot of ours for decades. Many memories of special meals here dating back to the original Guilio's in Pacific Beach with opera students who were waiters. Love it.
Excellent Italian food, very good service. What a great find in old town San Diego!
Always excellent food with excellent
Food was amazing- spaghetti and meatballs, cheesy garlic bread, chicken marsala- yum! Service was spectacular :) Will be back!
I have been eating at this restaurant since it opened its doors in Pacific Beach and now in
Old Town. We had a party of four and we all ate the JACK and Guilios most famous Shrimp
Scampi. Always delicious. I prefer the spaghetti rather than the penne pasta they served us but it was still awesome! Also, we ordered a Tiramasu to split and four to take home.
We waited at the gate for the doors to open and I told six ppl to order what we did. Since we braved the chill to sit outside, all patrons thanked us for the recommendation. This is the finest Italian food in town. Or waiter was excellent!
Had the Scampi and Stuffed Veal which are highlighted on the Menu in a red box. Shrimp tasted like lobster and the Veal was excellent - Would recommend to anyone that would enjoy a nice meal. If you like red wine - the value is in buying a bottle and not buying by the glass - Exellent evening.
Just visiting San Diego and was looking for an Italian dining experience. Found this restaurant close to our hotel and enjoyed it so much went back two night later in the week. Lemon Drop martini extra special treat. Bruschetta was best we ever tasted!
Great food and atmosphere. We stayed over in Old Town San Diego for convenience and dicoverred the Jack and Guilio's restaurant on line. street parking was convenient, but not plentiful as the area is very busy. The evening crowd was very 'up' for the weekend.
We had a business/social dinner (wives were included) Saturday evening Jack & Giulio, supposed to be a party of 8 but 4 had to cancel due to St. Patty crowd. The restaurant could not have been more accommodating with the change. Have eaten there a number of times, but not recently. The food was as good as I remembered, the portions great. Best described as very good "home style" Italian. If you are looking for the trendiest Italian restaurant out there, this may not be the no. 1 pick however if quality preparation with quality ingredients is important this is good to go. I wanted to pay a particular compliment to our waitress, unfortunately cant recall her name, younger lady in the back room with party of eight that became party of four, you were great and we appreciated your service.
very disappointing food - little flavor in the veal, brown and vegetables OK at best
Service was excellent. Attentive but not overly so. Food was to die for. Tortellini Verde & Caesar salad absolutely delicious. Highly recommend.
Love Jack & Giulio's. The food is outstanding. Very classy restaurant.
We made reservations on YELP but showed up early. The restaurant was not full but we still had to wait Although the service was a little slow initially the waiter explained they had a staffing issue that night
But the food was definitely worth the wait. Some of the best pasta dishes we have ever had. Our daughter has a masters in food culture from the University of Balogne and I have visited her and sampled the local food. This is just as good. A little slow service is certainly worth the wait. And it is Italian so you should take your time anyway
Service was excellent and food was really tasty. Great prices that make this place a once a week comfortable dinner.
Absolutely incredible food and service!! Wish I didn’t live across the country bc this would definitely be my Friday night spot!
Excellent food, large portions, price point excellent
Had a great time. I’m glad I used the open table app for a booth.
wonderful, need to have mushrooms available for side order.
On the edge of Old Town San Diego near hotel and convention center circle. Very good Italian specialties. Good service.
Our server was very attentive and the food was authentic and delicious
Wouldn't have expected Old Town to have a really good Italian restaurant (seems like everything else is Mexican). But the food was excellent. A couple of us had nice shrimp scampi dishes (mine had a good pesto), and another person had an excellent pasta ("swallow's nest"). Service was very attentive at first; a little delayed toward the end due to a large party next door diverting the staff's attention. According to my sister, this restaurant was originally Giulio's in Pacific Beach decades ago, so they've been around a long time.
I love the authenticity of the food but the ambiance out on the patio kind of ruins the experience. We were forced to sit out there during Valentine's day because she had to "rotate the tables", which shouldn't be my problem. I suggest you invest in a better outdoor dining experience. Otherwise it felt like I was sitting on cheap furniture on the side of my house. The server was outstanding and the food was delicious...just the ambiance sort of ruined it all.
The food was amazing and the restaurant was a very romantic setting for Valentines Day!
Still just as amazing as it was almost 20 years ago!
Excellent Italian food where the pasta is made in the kitchen. Very quiet, cozy and romantic if you wish. Good place to come for a date night or if you just like good, Italian food.
Veal Parmigiana =THE BEST! Need to know that name of the Cabernet Savignon I had = THE BEST. Sergio = THE BEST. It's our 2nd time. We LOVE this place and will come again!!! Thank you for the best food, service, atmosphere, etc. PERFECT :) Bob and Barb Hill
Food was fantastic and the service was just as good. The 5 of us had a great evening there together and will be back soon, no question. Loved it.
We've been coming for 30 years and love the place!
We went on a recommendation from a fellow traveler and it was well worth while. Service was very good food was most excellent
Great food, Great service. The best scampi that I have ever had!!
Jack and Giulio’s has been my go to resturant for years. Out of town guests always rave about the food, especially Scampi Alla Guilio. This occasion was diner befor the play Hamilton! We invited fiends from La Jolla and they loved it. Jack is the consummate host that makes your dinning experience unforgettable! This restaurant is a gem in San Diego! Located in old town that is fun in its self! You won’t be disappointed! Thanks Jack!
The Scampi ala Guilio is fantastic and over the years that I've been eating it first at Giulio's in PB and now Jack and Guilio's they have kept it exactly the way it has always been. Absolutely love it!
It was such a lovely dinner because of the FOOD! I live right across the street and I need to come more often. The waiters are very attentive too! Thank you for a lovely evening!
Overall, it was a pleasant experience...but there were a few things I was disappointed.
#1....the shrimp was delicious but canned mushrooms???
#2....the penne was from a box ...for the price we pay I would expect homemade pasta or at least cooked al dente
#3...the chocolate mousse was good but canned whipped cream...YIKES
Our go to Italian. .... Always so delicious!!! All of our out of town guests love it here, too!
We have been coming here for many years for new years eve. This year we moved to Arizona but still came back to San Diego to dine on NYE. We brought two other couples who had not been here before and they are now hooked! Love this place!
I have been going here for 40 years and have never been disappointed. The scampi are particularly good as are the classic Italian dishes such as veal, pasta. Service is friendly and timely.
Enjoyed our post-Christmas dinner especially the J&G Manhattan and Margarita. Garlic bread was excellent and entrees very good. Would dine here again
Our grown children and ourselves were spending Christmas in San Diego. We booked a table for Christmas Eve and were very happy with our choice. We were greeted as old friends, and sat at the bar for a bit as we were early. The cocktails were delicious, my old fashioned had hand mulled fruit! The authentic Italian food was wonderful. We were the last seating of the night but we did not notice. We all enjoyed the seafood and would highly recommend planning a night out there.
