Ja' Grill Hyde Park
Waiter Raushaun was always missing and we had to keep asking two other members to get him or assist us. Food was awful. Oxtail and stew chicken had a thick icky sauce, really bad. The chicken soup had flavor like packet soup and was too salty that we had to return it.
We don’t plan on returning unless they get an authentic Jamaican cook who actually knows how to make meals tasty and maintain flavor. Do not go for food and private dining!
I really enjoy eating Ja'Grill's food. It took a little long to be served even though I had a reservation. But once Roxie came, I was happy. Tge onky other thing is obe of my food items didn't come until I was ready to go.
This is my second time coming to Ja' Grill. The drinks are good along with the food. It can be a little packed but that adds to the vibe of the restaurant. Everyone was in good spirits.
A trip to Jamaica in Hyde Park. Fun place!Excellent interesting food and great ambiance! Great value!
We visited for Mother's Day. Overall, the location is very small, so you feel like you're sitting on top of people. You can practically hear other people's conversation without being included. The food was decent and the drinks were ok. I would only go back for the steam cabbage, the cabbage had me at hello.
This was my 2nd visit to this restaurant and have received very good Service on both occasions. Considering this was on Mothers day on this visit I expected crowds. Pleasantly surprised that my table was available on time. The portions are enough for two meals. My table of four had whole red snapper, curried goat and oxtails. All were very good. Our server Denise was professional, friendly and patient. I was impressed that on the way out because we had an elderly person with some vision impairment the person who seated us ( forgot her name) was able to prevent us from having to walk around the longer way to exit. Thanks for that. Also observed that Reserved signs were placed on tables until those guests arrived. Will definitely continue to patronize this business
Our server, Michael, was phenomenal! His recommendations were on point and our food was spectacular. My only concern is the noise level. It is entirely too loud and I don’t think it’s because of the acoustics. My recommendation is to lower the music because it’s hard to hear the person next to you.
I love this place! The food is outstanding, the staff is great and it has a cool casual atmosphere. If you grew up on Queens and Brooklyn NY Jamiacan food like I did Ja' Grill will take you back to the good old days of coco bread, jerk chicken and a whole lot more. DO NOT forget to try their bread pudding.
Great food and service. The rum punch is a must have or have a shot of Balvenie Scotch make sure it’s the 15 year.
Enjoyable experience all though prices are expensive for the standard Jamaican cuisine. $25 for Oxtail and $32 for lamb chops (WOW)
Noise level extremely high but nevertheless an enjoyable night out.
Be sure to make reservations on open table for a stress free experience.
Jerk chicken was on point. Rum Punch never disappoints. The Dark & Stormy drink is good but too much ice, not a good value.
FOOD ALWAYS GREAT ! THE SERVERS AND BUS BOYs NEED TO LEARN GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE!
The place is tight and loud; which is the perfect setting for great Caribbean food. Friendly staff and did I mention amazing food.
Was ALL GOOD!
It was a date night and we decided to stay close. We wanted some jerk chicken and this was the spot. The service was good even though it stays super busy.
I made reservations for 9:15pm and the hostess made sure we were seated at our reserved time. Our waiter was extremely nice, courteous, and attentive. I would definitely come back along with guests.
Food had no seasoning at all. The wait time was extremely long literally a hour an half before the food came out! The wait staff doesn’t acknowledge you. Never again
Unfortunately my salmon was over cooked but overall good experience.
The food was good (jerk wings, the honey wings, and the jerk catfish). The only disappointment was that they ran out of ribs.
I celebrated my birthday with about 20 people and the waiter took care of us all he made sure we were all tooken care of and everyone loved the food and music great way to bring in my 50th birthday thanks ja grille
It was our 1st time there and the food was good. My husband is a very picky eater and he enjoyed the food as well. But what stands out the most to me was that rum cake OMG they were delicious!!!
Great drinks. Amazing food. Really good service. Wonderful atmosphere.
Glad I didn't listen to other reviews and miss this wonderful treat. Best food of my visit.
Once you’re parked, Ja Grill is the spot to be. Warm, welcoming, well prepared Caribbean style foods, beverage selections, good music will have you moving in your seat. Ja’ Grill Hyde Park is an attractive place to be for a upbeat date or time out with the crew
Great food & drinks
thanks to open table i was a to reserve a table which minimize my wait!
Great Food! Very crowded and loud on Friday evenings!
I dine here often, however, the food is inconsistent. most days the salmon Escabeche and jerk chicken is moist but my last couple of visits... both were dry to the point I needed to specify extra saucing./desserts are always a hit.
Amazing experience as usual Rum Punch wasn’t as strong as it was suppose to have been but everything else was awesome 👏🏽
The atmosphere was amazing until a group of people got into it at the bar. Everything else was very good.
Great food! Great atmosphere! Busy so must be patient but it was worth the wait
My fiance and I loved it, we've already made it our special go to spot!! 👍🏿
Our server was a bit rushed and kept forgetting certain things, but that didn't take away from us having a great girls night out.
Great atmosphere , missed our reservation but the hostess was very good about getting our party of 3 seated promptly. Salmon salad was excellent.
Good food, small space, need reservations, nice ambiance..
Food was decent, service was good, and ambiance was alright. I will suggest that if you are in a wheelchair make sure you make reservations but still be prepared to be extremely close to others.
The jerk chicken, chicken soup, jerk shrimp and lamb chops were excellent. The red beans and rice and cabbage not so much. The red beans and rice were dry and the cabbage had absolutely no taste.
It's still a go to spot for us.
The food was not authentic Jamaica cuisine! It was so plan and dry I had the lamb chops and they were dry and bland. My husband had the jerk chicken and it was not seasoned. Me and my husband had a 8pm reservation and still had to wait about 20 minutes for seating. Our waiter was ok nothing special, the drinks were the only thing that was great. Next time we will just go there for the drinks only.
Amazing place excellent staff and a big thank you to Alex who assisted in coordinating my proposal at the restaurant but also the food was amazing and will continue my anniversary dinner at JaGrill
Jerk Grill cat fish was delicious.
