About J. Trani's Ristorante
On a typical Friday night at J. Trani's Ristorante, a visit to the dining room reveals a host of family and friends and the bar is bustling with a crowd that can only be described as enthusiastic. Most of the crowds are long time friends, but even those who aren't are made to feel like one of the family.

J. Trani's Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
Party of 7 celebrating a birthday. Chef Dustin out did himself, as usual. Salmon, creme fraiche pizza, Thai chile calamari and Day made fresh mozzarella apps were outstanding. All guests raved about entrees, I had the porcini mushroom ravioli, wow. Burnt rosemary shortbread crumble and house made marshmallows over butterscotch panna cota topped off a perfect celebration. Don't miss the 'rocky road' mallo! OMG
I love this his restaurant. It's a throwback to an era where one can feel not anxious nor rushed, and valued. The wonderful matitre d waived the champagne cork age Vee when we disclosed that my guests had just got engaged. Eric our server, was perfect. Suggested food for me, becuz of my allergies, mind had the chef do a half order of an appetizer for me. I love this restaurant.
Finally after 40 Years of driving by J Tranis in my hometown of San Pedro I made my reservation. I came for my Birthday and it was delicious. Bread dipped in Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar, then we shared the Seared Short Ribs and a Pizza with Prosciutto, Sausage, Tomato, Roasted Peppers, Onion, Mozzarella, Parmesan. If you sign up on their website you get a FREE meal on your Birthday ($30 value
Local "neighborhood dinner house" in San Pedro, 90 years of history. Manager, hostess and waitress were all very friendly, greeting people by name as they came in and seating them at their favorite booth. Service was terrific.
Menu was traditional continental fare, not a place for foodies but a comfortable neighborhood fare. Food tasted good, but was uninspired, with big portions. Drinks were a little thin.
Net net if I lived in San Pedro I would go back, but this is not a destination restaurant.
We were headed to a show at the Warner theater and had dinner before the show. Our first time with some friends. We had the house salad , very tasty. The swordfish Milanese amazing , Ahi Tuna perfect and spaghetti in red sauce with jumbo shrimp. All was very well prepared and the service was wonderful. The booths could use a boost but overall nice find.
The food is consistently great as is the service. My mother lives blocks away in a retirement home and this is perfect for us when we want to experience a special occasion meal. We enjoyed Easter brunch there this past Sunday. Selected the fried chicken and jalapeño cheese French Toast - a dish I would normally never consider. It was truly incredible! I am already looking forward to our next meal there.
Easter brunch was perfect at Tranis. Fried chicken and french toast, pancake and burrata were just two of the delectable choices for this holiday meal. Everyone should try their new brunch hours and menu. It's a delightful new Sunday venue and you will applaud the chef!
We enjoyed our brunch immensely. The menu was creative and fun. Everything we tasted was outstanding. This was our first experience with their brunch menu and we were really impressed. We love their dinner menu and have been a few times. The signature cocktails were beautiful and potent 😊 So happy we tried the brunch.
Great food and service. A little pricey for Italian, but well worth for special times out. Portions are not huge like some places, but more than enough, we took doggie bags home for us, and did not have room for dessert (but we had 2 appetizers and 4 dinners between the 4 of us).
Loved it!! Very friendly and efficient staff. The place is dated but it's old school, so it works..because.. The food is AMAZING. I'm pretty critical and I was floored with everything we ordered. Swordfish was incredible, Braised Ribs melted in my mouth and the appetizer 'New Calamari' was a great start.
We had out-of-town visitors and everyone was pleased and impressed with the restaurant. The food was excellent across the board. We brought a bottle of wine and the corkage fee was very reasonable. Although it was a little crowded, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. This is the best place to eat in San Pedro!
We usually come here for special occasions and this time my wife took me here for my birthday. The service was first class, the wine list excellent but not overpowering, and the food was excellent. My wife always orders the duck -- I had the special. We don't eat out much but if we did, we would definitely make this a regular spot. The prices are at the upper end but comparable for the service and the quality of the meal. I wrote 5 star value because they comped my meal and provided the birthday desert.
The food never disappoints. Have been to Trani's many times, ordered many different things and have never been disappointed. The New Style Calamari is outstanding, the Shishito peppers are delicious, I have had everything from the steak to the swordfish milanese and would recommend it all.
Enjoyed our visit to Trani's on a Sunday evening. Restaurant was really crowded and they informed us that they had run out of meatballs! I did enjoy my lasagne and my husband really liked his mushroom risotto. Nice glass of wine; really good live music but we were seated too far away to really enjoy it and the level of noise made it difficult. We really like this neighborhood restaurant and the quality of the food is always very good.
EXCELLENT service, from the hostess, to the busboys, to the waitress. We were a party of 9 which is typical for us and some in our party Always make changes to whatever they order, they are too hot or too cold or both. The staff here was on top of everything. The meatball and the risotto appetizers were great, the salad was crispy, the steak perfect.
