J. Razzo's Ratings and Reviews
We were out for a birthday dinner and had a wonderful time. We had the seafood linguini, lasagna, tortellini and manicotti. We raved about each of our dinners, so good and serving sizes were generous. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This was our first time there but won’t be our last.
Thank you for a great experience.
My husband and I LOVE this restaurant! They have an amazing selection of Italian dishes that are made with the owners family recipes. Everything we've ever tried has been outstanding! My favorite is the Angel Hair Shrimp with Asparagus and of course, the garlic bread sticks...Delicious!
This was our first time at J Razzos. We had a 6:30 reservation. Arrived and was told our table was not ready and was told she had no idea when it would be ready. We sat at the bar and waited 35 min for a table. After being seated, a waitress came and greeted us and told is someone would be there with water. We waited 20 min for the water and it was another 10 min after that that we were ask to order any food or beverages! I will say the food was good hut the service here needs some help.
How do restaurants stay in business when they are out of food? They were out of the duck breast but didn’t tell us until after the order was placed. Same thing happened with dessert. Scallops were well done and so was the salmon but the bruschetta was awful as was the risotto.
It was so disappointing that we decided to remove J Razzo’s from our list.
My only complaint is that we were seated at a very narrow booth-the table itself was narrow and we kept kicking each other under the table and we are not tall people. I think that booth needs to be converted to a regular table that is wider. The food was crowded on the table top, too. Otherwise the food was delicious, the restaurant is very nicely decorated, and we will go back. We will just ask for a different table.
The food was soaked in heavy sauces almost like eating pasta sauce soup and cheese soup. Chicken was over cooked. Spaghetti was cold. Ambience was ok, but male waiter didn't seem to care about our orders at all. The hotel recommended it, but we told front desk manager not to recommend them anymore. Worse meal of entire trip!
My friend and I enjoyed another outstanding dinner, with friendly, unobtrusive yet attentive service. We tried the sauage-stuffed, bacon-wrapped dates for a starter - something new and delicious. I'm always amazed by the excellent seafood J. Razzo's serves, something one doesn't expect in an Italian restaurant. My red snapper (one of the specials) was perfectly cooked, topped with 3 shrimp, accompanied by delicious risotto with veggies and fresh asparagus.
My friend enjoyed the marinated chicken, one of his favorites. It's a very simple but delicious preparation, served with penne with veggies. We took home the yummy tiramisu, plus our dinner leftovers from such generous servings.
The quiet, cozy atmosphere is very relaxing, and it's a perfect place for an adults-only meal. One of my favorite restaurants!
The Chicken Veneto (Chicken strips simmered in white wine, garlic, pistachios, artichoke hearts and parsley) was absolutely amazing! It Is normally served over spaghetti, but I opted to have it with no pasta. It sounds like a run of the mill dish, but It had amazing flavor with tender sautéed chicken. I can't say enough about how delicious it was.
The wait staff seemed genuinely concerned with the experience of their patrons and knew several by name. The ambiance left a little to be desired, but the food and the staff make up for it!
J. Razzo's is consistently one of our "go to" Italian restaurants in the Indpls. Great food, service, and value. If you don't see it on the menu, just ask and they will likely prepare whatever you wish. They have locations in Carmel and Westfield with essentially the same menu, but Carmel is larger and was their first location. Ownership and many staff came from Salvatories an Indy north side institution for years.
First of all we love J. Razzos. The food & service are always good. We choose the restaurant because it is one of the very few restaurants that is usually quiet. You can carry on a conversation at your table. We had reservations for 13 of us and happy we were seated in the back room. Unfortunately shortly after we were seated a group of 25-30 soccer players and adults occupied the other two large tables in that room. We lost our quiet room and it was very difficult to talk or hear. We will go back to J. Razzos again, but the last experience was not too pleasant.
Always a good experience, from John greeting us at the door, through the meal. Only very minor complaint is that the waiter seemed a little in a hurry on us ordering. We had to tell him a few times that we weren't ready to order and we needed some time to talk and decide on food. Not a big deal.
