J. Liu Restaurant & Bar of Worthington Ratings and Reviews
Some of the items on the website are not offered on the menu. It also seemed like things were priced higher for me than i thought they should have been when the bill came. The food amazing and the ambiance was very nice as well. I would recommend this place to someone else.
It was our first time dining here and we were extremely disappointed. The place was not crowded at all and it took someone over 15 minutes to greet us at our table after we sat down. The drinks took about 20+ minutes to make and came out after our appetizer. The food was less than mediocre and our meals were cold - they were presented by someone who literally dropped them off at the table (not even in front of us) and didn't say a word, they just walked away and didn't ask if we wanted anything else. It was very odd. One of the servers dropped my steak knife on the floor and picked it up, took it to the back and brought back the same knife absolutely dripping wet with water, not even dried off. If the restaurant was busy, I would have been a little more understanding but it was not crowded at all, there were so mant empty tables! I have heard good things about this place so I was eager to try and I have to say I will not be going back.
We went on NYE and we expected crazy crowds but it really wasn’t busy at all. However our service wasn’t amazing and since it was NYE they weren’t making any modifications to any dishes. I liked my dish (chicken Milanese) and my fiancé liked his too (filet medallions) but as we were leaving we both thought our dishes were overpriced for what they actually were. We want to go back again though and see if it was just the NYE shenanigans that brought it down for us or if it’s just not the place for us. We will be trying the Asian options next time too!
The menu does not offer anything spectacular. Food was very ordinary. The flavor lacked the depth- not what was expected. We ordered flourless chocolate mousse- it seemed to be brought right out of the freezer. It was as good as eating a frozen chocolate bar!! The waitress seemed occupied with other things. Her lack of keenness and warmth added another reason to our verdict -“Won’t be coming back a second time.”
We ate dinner a J. Liu Restaurant on New Year's Eve. We were seated promptly in a nice secluded booth as we'd requested. The waitress was very attentive and helpful. The appetizers, soup and cocktails were excellent. The entrees weren't quite as good as we'd expected and seemed overpriced to us.
There was a limited menu for NYE, and I think the kitchen was focused on speed and volume. It wasn’t quite as good as usual, but ordinarily the food is delicious. Mine was just cold and the steak was a little bland. My boyfriend’s Chicken Milanese was amazing, though.
J Lui's were out of several things...salmon, several desserts. The pear drink we ordered never arrived and then when we complained and it did arrive it was horrible. Food was luke warm. Big table beside us was noisy and had little kids running up and down the aisle and in front of our table Then the adults, who were drunk, stood in front of our table when they were getting ready to leave and started arguing/fighting over who was paying the bill. We were hoping for a nice quiet Christmas Eve dinner with good food and good service and expected that since J Lui's is an upscale restaurant but that wasn't the case. I doubt if we will go back.
Service reigns!! We were shown our table within minutes of our 7:00 pm reservation despite being what was probably one of the busiest nights of the year (Friday week before Christmas) Service was impeccable and the meals masterfully prepared. I've never had a meal here that was short of wonderful. I wish all restaurants were this consistent, I would never cook at home.
I have always loved your location. I love your soups and salad. The Sunday brunch did not allow me to order what I enjoy. The food on the brunch buffet was not the quality I have come to enjoy at your restaurant. I made arrangements to gather with my friends, and am quit embarrassed.
We made reservations for Thanksgiving dinner not knowing that they were only serving a buffet. The website did not mention a buffet and we thought we would be ordering off the regular menu.
Our party of 4 was seated upstairs at a round table for 12. The rest of the groups upstairs were large. The atmosphere felt institutional as did the buffet. This ranks as the worst Thanksgiving dinner ever. We usually eat out that day at restaurants, but at places that take the trouble to serve a real meal. We may as well have gone to a Golden Corral and saved ourselves some money.
It was 4pm and too late to try and go somewhere else.
We were there for a Thanksgiving family dinner, specifically at J. Lui because they have such a variety of choices. The family has different food needs (or preferences) and options available made everyone happy. No fuss or stress in our home kitchen! Besides, the food was great.
We had Thanksgiving buffet there for the last two years. The only thing was in my attempts to keep Mom from fighting for the bill I didn't notice that we were only charged for one of us as a senior when 3 of us qualified for that price. My fault... I just looked at the total and shoved the cash on the folder while the waitress was still there. We will still go there for more special occasions.
Had Thanksgiving meal at J Lui. Special non-menu buffet was set-up with traditional Thanksgiving fare plus a nice variety of Asian selections. Also had carved meat service and desert table. All-in-all a great meal and exception value. Will continue to visit throughout the year, menu items are a nice variety and service is good. What’s not to like!!
Excellent, as usual. While the bar area is loud and fun, the restaurant area is quiet and cozy. Great attention from staff. Tables were filled with quiet, upscale diners, providing a perfect ambiance for a Sunday night dinner out (the bar area was still hopping). Food was great -- combo fried rice (enough for two or three more meals) and Jason's Spicy Chicken (again, enough for take-home). We will definitely go back and take guests -- we love this place!
Planned on having an early lunch with our son before heading back to Northern Ohio, but we couldn't order anything off the menu because it was Sunday and all they served was the "brunch". The food was adequate, nothing to write home about. Not sure I would go here again for the brunch. Would prefer to have ordered off the menu. Our server was very prompt and filled our drink orders quickly. She also cleared the table of any and all dishes.
I wanted to show my appreciation to my dog-sitting neighbors for all the help they have given me. I suggested dinner out someplace, and thought of J. Liu's. I had been there before, but they had not been. As I expected, we had a great dining experience. We had good food and a wonderful waitress. We were not rushed in any way and were treated very well. My friends remarked on the ambiance and decor. We had a wonderful time, and my friends thanked me for picking such a nice place.
