Very pleasant Saturday evening dinner-out with friends experience. Quality of food, drinks and ambiance was good relative to price. Service was spotty but consistently polite. Will definitely return.
The pork shank was very good. The server was impeccable: friendly, attentive, unobtrusive, and thoroughly professional.
This was my second visit to J. Liu's in three weeks, but this time I was with a different group. Usually I start with a glass of wine, but the cocktails were so tempting! Two of us thoroughly enjoyed the Bite the Bulleit drink.
As always, the menu has a wonderful variety of appetizers and entrees, some Asian and others more American. I made a meal out of a cup of the Broccoli Cheese Soup and the Asian Lettuce Wraps appetizer. There was so much food that I took the rest of the appetizer home and ate it for lunch the next day.
The ambience and service were also good, and we'll be back again soon!
Overall expected better. Went for brunch, but all the items listed on the website were not on the buffet; one of which i went for. The bacon was a bit jerky like, but my husband liked it. For 20 bucks a person, i was hoping for something to really talk about. Not the worst I’ve had, but not the best either. Maybe we will give it another try sometime, but unsure at this time.
Great drinks & food as usual! Love this place! Sangria is the best I’ve every had. Will go again.
We got seated immediately with our reservation. Our waiter was very polite but did not really understand the special. Thought a filet was a fish. The piece of salmon that was on the salad that two of us got was incredibly small. We did not complain as we really don’t eat that much but it was much smaller than I’ve had in the past. That made for a very expensive plate of lettuce. This is not what I’ve experienced in the past at J Luis but I have to say if I go again and it has the feel of lowering standards as it did this last time I will not return. There are just too many good restaurants.
Walked out before service. Horrible experience with rude and uninterested server. Strange ambience in restaurant.
Went to another restaurant and had a wonderful dinner and experience.
Do not regret leaving for one second.
J Liu is an excellent restaurant, but I was very disappointed on Easter Sunday! I had no idea it was buffet, which I am NOT a fan of. This type of menu should have been advised when making the reservation. The food was either cold or not there (empty pans) while going through the line. Also, the serving pans were so high that (shorter) people had trouble seeing what was in them. I don't mind paying more money for a good meal, but $29.95 per person was a bit outrageous for the type of food being served cafeteria style Not to mention the 20% gratuity that was automatically added to the bill. Paying that much for a tip when we had to serve ourselves was not acceptable! I brought my family for a wonderful Easter luncheon and ended up spending over $200.00!!!!! Never again...
We had been in past years for Easter brunch and it was good. This year it was awful. They were understaffed, the food wasn’t replenished, we were seated upstairs 45 minutes after our reservation time and it was hot in the dining space. Highly unlikely that we will return.
We went for Easter Brunch and was very disappointed! The service was slow, they were unable to keep up on replenishing the food in the buffet area, it was noisy, some of the food was luke warm, and they messed up my omelet order 2X!! All of this for a 75.00 bill for 2 people. Never again.
Easter Brunch - super busy, slightly understaffed upstairs as Steph seemed to be doing her best to take care of a lot of tables. It took time to clear plates off the table and refill drinks. At one point, there was a line of people waiting at the buffet since they had run out of plates. Very chaotic, but still good and we had a nice family meal.
Very disappointed on my recent visit (Easter Sunday). I have visited JLiu several times in the past with great experiences. My most recent visit was nothing like the past. On this last visit employees all seemed frustrated and the barmaid especially came with an attitude. The food was good but the food display was not very appealing. Serving bowls were not kept full and at one point we had to wait for clean plates to come out of the dishwasher. All in all the experience was not what I expected from JLiu especially on a holiday. Not sure if we will visit again. Probably time for us to try something new.
Our family of seven opted to have our Easter meal together at J. Liu and sample the buffet. I enjoyed the food, especially the omelet and desserts. There were many choices of breakfast and lunch entrees, as well as prime rib and ham. The dessert bar had so many wonderful bite-size options. Because it was Easter, the restaurant and staff were very, very busy. I had to wait for a clean plate at one point before going through the buffet. Our water glasses had so much ice that we rarely had a full glass of water. Pay attention to your bill. We were automatically charged a 20% gratuity, and I missed this.
The service was not good made reservations at noon was not placed to until 1pm did not think value was good drinks should be included
Well. a sense of humor is what wrote the sign above the public restrooms. That sign was a play on the name: Liu. How so? Back in England, the Loo....is where emergencies are relieved.
Went there on our anniversary. The food was ok, the service was good, the prices are a bit high, but to be expected in a nicer restaurant.
We chose this restaurant because they were in the Entertainment book. What better way to try out a new restaurant than to get a discount on the food. When it was time to pay the server told us that the manager said they do not accept the entertainment card. This was the only reason we went there, it was a large colorful add in the Entertainment book with there address and phone number.
The service and food was excellent.
Our bar server was really bad. The bar people don’t share tips so we went to the other bar tender who literally turned down helping us. Ugh. Also, do you know you have a major typo on the main page of your website???
The couple we met were seated at a different table for 10 minutes and saw them on way to restroom. By mistake lobster bisque was served instead of mushroom. Other than that all of us enjoyed our food which was great tasting and priced reasonably.
Cool restaurant with delicious food. The salmon is wonderful!
Our party of 8 loves J. Liu of Worthington! It's centrally located for all parties, and we always have a wonderful time. This place has it all--good atmosphere, great food, and an attentive staff. Be warned! The portions are generous, so you will enjoy your meals for one or two more days when you take the leftovers home. Several of us had the Mongolian Beef, and my husband had the Chicken Fried Rice. Everything was expertly prepared. We'll be back!
There were multiple dishes on the menu that I would have ordered. WAs very very happy with the Blackened Tuna - cocktails were amazing as well. My dining partner had the Tilapia, which I also tasted and it was wonderful.
We did not order desert, I felt like prices were reasonable for the quality of the meal.
Wine was great, food taste was great. Steak was raw, sent back and came back raw a second time, so that needs improvement.
My friend and I had a very bad experience at this restaurant. We were seated without menus and no body talked to us for at least 10 minutes. Then we were only handed one menu. We didn't even know who are waiter was because we had so many and the bread came out with our entrees. My friend's chicken was very low quality so she asked for a small piece of salmon instead. The salmon came out raw in the center.
Food delivery was slow; pasta was warm (not hot); steak was warm (not hot) and overcooked. They did apologize and provide free dessert, which was nice. But, overall, not a good experience.
My partner and I went here for the first time, and to celebrate our 6 years together. We had a great experience and look forward to going back. Our server, Teresa, was great! She recommended the "halle-liu-a" cocktail, which was delicious. We both had the Red Snapper meal with red-skin mashed potatoes and green beans. Everything was delicious; the Snapper being pan-seared, was delicious and came to the table hot. We had the house salad prior and it was delicious. The atmosphere was quiet enough for good conversation, the bar being in a separate room at one end of the restaurant. The decor was beautiful! We'll be back!
We ordered the surf and turf. Our steaks were excellent. We were disappointed that the shrimp was fried and not grilled.
Anniversary
Another fantastic Sunday brunch by J. Liu the Prime Rib, crab rangoons and desserts were phenomenal!
Food was good.
Happy hour is amazing. My friends and I have never been a huge fan of their food, but every appetizer I have had is amazing (aka all of them). The main meals (chicken, steak, fish) were just okay- not bad, not good. Great vibe in the restaurant, great service. If the main coarses were a little better, I'd be here all the time.
Every member of the staff plus the chef and the owner greeted my Mom and wished her Happy Birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed our happy hour appetizers and cocktails. It was a memorable celebration even for a 102nd birthday. Thank you!
Outstanding recipes, great wine selection served in a conversation friendly environment. Certainly a neighborhood gem, both for locals and destination diners.
Perfectly cooked steak with subtly seasoned sides served by a wonderful employee, Bree. If you find yourself in the Worthington area looking for a great meal, stop by and try J. Liu.
Great food. Bree is an awesome server. She made our experience fun and relaxing. Highly recommend Bree!
I was not impressed. The food was awful. The hostess was extremely rude and unwelcoming. It's a very stuff place. I'll never go back.
Not my best experience!
The restaurant is very lovely. It looks like a mansion in the outside, and when you walk in, it has a very trendy vibe, which was pretty cool. We were sat near the bar area, so there were a few times when my chair was bumped by customers and staff. It was a pretty narrow space to get through. Overall, we had an enjoyable experience.
Food and service were quite good.
And carmelized salmon with forbidden black rice was excellent.
Our meals and service was excellent. It started off with a miscommunication with the server staff and as to who was actually to serve our table, but once they realized the issue, the server bent over backwards to make it right. We’ll be back!
