We booked using Open Table for outside seating. Our confirmation was for outside seating. We arrive 10 minutes early for our reservation and we’re told that the only table available was in full sun without an umbrella. What? We were quickly informed that our reservation was not guaranteed outside but was a request. I’d like to inform the restaurant if that’s the case, then set up Open Table to reflect that! Other restaurants in the area that don’t guarantee outdoor seating do not allow reservations for that and do not send out notifications that outside seating has been reserved. No umbrella and beating down sun isn’t what anyone imagines. The flippant and rude hostess and the manager who set this up incorrectly aren’t appreciated by us. The service inside the bar was horrid. Water refills were non existent and the food took forever. I won’t be back. This used to be a decent restaurant. People with Father’s Day reservations may want to reconsider.
Appetizers and Sushi were excellent. We had Chicken Parm which was really good. But the Pad Thai did not have a lot of flavor.
Some of the entrees were pricey.
And the restaurant decor could use a refresh. I would go back.
Great service ! Delicious food!
Our primary complaint was with our server. We felt extremely rushed from beginning to end. We indicated we just wanted to enjoy our drinks for a few minutes and he came back twice to get our orders. Once we ordered it seemed the food came back immediately. When we finished eating, he offered dessert, which we declined and then brought our checks. No one indicated we had to leave right then and we did stay for at least another half hour, during which time no one ever returned for anything. Every single glass on the table wAs empty. It was as if he was trying to leave. Food wise, most enjoyed their meal but the chicken Parmesan was very dry and needed seasoning. Not sure that we will return any time soon.
My oldest son always asks for J Liu's when it's his turn to pick a restaurant. He was disappointed that the desserts aren't made on site anymore and that the amazing potatoes with his filet were replaced by wasabi mashed potatoes. But, everything is always tasty and we always have outstanding service. They change up the menu to keep things exciting so sometimes your favs are gone but you find a new one.
We chose to sit in the bar area so the noise level was more than in the restaurant, but we could still carry on a conversation. The service was excellent even though they appeared to be short staffed. Dodd is always good
Had a table by the bar. The service was excellent from the bartender even though she had to serve others on the bar. Like the variety of food options. Loved the poke and sushi.
It was great as usual except it was very warm in the bar area this evening!
Ya know, when you walk into a restaurant maskless at 6:00 p.m. on June 1 - and the ONLY people around are 2 of your 5 guests, and the "hostess" challenges an old, white haired lady "ARE YOU VACCINATED?" that the night is off on the wrong foot. Thanks be to God I resisted the urge to let her know that SHE HAD NO BUSINESS asking me that question! Yes - I was incensed! My reply "Of course" was not complete. "Of course - I was completely vaccinated by the time I was TEN!" I was at Polaris Grill for lunch on Saturday. No mask - no question - no challenge. As with Pat & Gracie's on E. Gay St. where our temperatures were taken as well as my girlfriend's name and phone number, it will be a cold day in a hot place before I return this J Liu's. Oh - the lack of menu's just added to my anger! It was an embarrassment as I was hosting an out-of-town guest!
The food was fantastic! The Crab Rangoon and crispy chicken salad was so good! The service was not great. Our server was waiting on a large table and we had to wait quite a long time. The manager finally came over and offered to take our order. This is the second time we have had a bad experience with service.
Service was extremely slow. Staff not knowledgeable about the menu at all.
We enjoyed our meal and cocktails. Loved the salad and
My cousin and I had a good time. She ordered a drink that was not up to her taste. The Boise level was high. We were still able to talk.
While the atmosphere was phenomenal and the food superb, the waitress was very neglectful. It felt as if she was intentionally ignoring us as she tended to the table next to us 6 times and did not bother to take the 3 steps to our table to see if we needed anything, if our food was alright, etc. It was clear the table next to us were either regulars or a friend of hers. Thankfully other staff members did check in on us. The waitress made us feel so bad that we actually asked someone if we did something to offend her. The who purpose for us going was not only to celebrate my daughters last day of High School but to see if this would be where we will be treating a group of 20 folks after the official graduation ceremony. We definitely would have made arrangements if selecting purely on the facility and taste; however, this is not the service I want to share with our family and friends or to celebrate my daughters achievements.
Food was good. Service was slow perhaps because our server was also the bartender. Entrance was dirty. Bar floor was sticky.
Excellent food and beverages in a comfortable atmosphere. Service was poor, seemingly inexperienced waitstaff? Very slow, inattentive server. Appetizer dishes still littered the table when the entrees were brought out.
Every member of the staff I interacted with seemed annoyed with our presence. The food was good, but the servers obvious aggravation with us, the seating being undesirable, and the manager asking us to leave because they were closing an hour early made the experience less than ideal.
It was not crowded. Our server was rude. He poured my beer and got it all over the table and didn't even clean it up. When I asked for a napkin to clean up he came back with a cloth napkin and swiped the spill onto the floor. My space on the table was still wet.
It was a very nice leisurely lunch. My friend said when she went in before I arrived the attendant was not very pleasant. I did it witness that so cannot confirm or deny.
Our sever was pleasant and patient. We sat for quite awhile after finishing our food. Food was very good. Loved the lobster bisque and we both had salmon. Mine on a salad and the other was a plate with vegetable and rice.
Was just ok, wants to be more than it is it seems.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at J. Liu's. We brought our daughter and granddaughter to dinner there for the first time. They loved the menu selections. We had "clean plates" when were finished with our dinner. We vowed we would return again soon. The wait staff was wonderful!
Took my wife there for Mother’s Day. First time there. Was a very good experience. Will definitely be back. Jo Jo was a great host. Loved it. Thanks JoJo.
I had been to the Dublin J Liu’s many times, I hadn’t been to the Worthington location. It was much bigger than I expected, but the ambiance - and everything else - were wonderful!
Took 30 minutes to seat after reservation time
Value for food low unless you ordered the chinese entrees
We had reservations. After 20 minutes I went to hostess desk to say we hadn’t been waited on. They brought waters right away. Our waitress came then and took our wine and salad order. She was working very hard and had quite a few tables so we understood. My $32.00 salmon was very dry and plain. She went back and brought me a sauce to dip. My husband had mongolian beef that was just ok. The salads were delicious. We were very disappointed, especially for the money we spent. I would definitely not give a recommendation for J. Liu Restaurant.
It was fine, service was amazing and the seating was comfortable. Wasn’t thrilled with the wait time even with reservations. But overall nice experience!
We were squeezed into the bar in a tight traffic area. Food was very good as always. It was a hectic Mother’s Day and it wasn’t our usual very good experience
Waitress forgot drinks, and salad.
Potatoes were overcooked and cold......seemed like they were left over from buffet.
My Wife's dish was oscar style.....but no oscar when delivered.
No Childrens menus or crayons.
Waitress was nice but overwhlemed. Not enough staff. She was literally out of breath.
Her frantic deamnor really dtracted from a nice relaxing Mother's day meal
Mind you, they were extra rushed due to it being a holiday. But we attended with two children, to whom they ignored that they were present and did not initially provide kids menus. When we asked the hostess for crayons, they stated that they were not provided them today.
Went in Mother's Day so they had a limited menu, but it was all delish!! I feel the kids menu could have better choices!
I went with my 6 y/o son for Mother’s Day. The food was delicious but they did forget the roasted potatoes on my dish and the side of broccoli for my son. We were also seated by the bar so my son was just glued to the TV.
They are struggling and the food is not nearly as good as it used to be. My lamb chops came out raw and twice! They food came out within 10 min which is a clue and my husbands meal was room temp. The second set of chops came out 5 min later. I ended up ordering something else. It was Mother’s Day and you would think there would have been a dessert offered but nothing. I would think twice about ever going again.
We left before eating bc we waited 30 min and the server hadn’t even taken a drink order. Lots of confusion and running around, but the restaurant wasn’t even crowded. Won’t be back.
Our dinner was outstanding! I was excited to be able to make a reservation for Saturday evening to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful dinner celebration for our family of 8. The food was great, as it always is at J. Liu's. And our servers were extremely outgoing and fun, making our evening even more pleasurable. I would absolutely recommend J. Liu to anyone.
Dinner was a bust. We had heard nothing but good things about this place, but it was disappointing. It started with the drink menu where the list of cocktails was limited and just not up to par with other top restaurants. Then the lettuce wraps we got as an appetizer were bland. The main courses were ok, but nothing great. Ambience is a 1 or 2. Lighting is very bright - should have worn my sunglasses.
Went there for prom and had to wait 20 minutes for a waitress, then another 25 to take our orders, then 45 minutes to get our food which made us late to prom. Food was good but service was very disappointing
Reservation system with OpenTable is not used correctly at this restaurant. When you reserve a time and arrive at your reserved time, you are not actually seated at your scheduled time. Instead when you arrive the hostess places you on an additional 30 minute wait, making the entire OpenTable process useless and not needed. Will not be dining at this location again. OpenTable should be made aware of this.
I’ve always liked this restaurant but made a reservation for 7pm and was told there was a wait and that all the other people waiting had 7pm reservations too. There had to be 12-14 people waiting. Asked for a manager and the hostess told me she wasn’t sure where he was, running around! No support for this young lady who was taking the heat for poor management.
This location is very tired and desperately in need of a makeover. Casual dining is an overstatement. Not at all a good choice for fine dining.
Food, Service, and Ambiance were spectacular even with a sold out house!
