We had made some changes to our order and it was not served correctly. 4 out of the 5 of us ordered the fish special which was very dry. Once the order was taken by the waiter he never came back to check to see if we needed anything. We enjoyed people watching but the food did not thrill us.
Great time but music was way too loud.
Came because Tony is there now. Food and service were excellent but we really can't wait to see what he is going to do with the place!
Amazing food! Love the live music Thursday’s. Since Tony took over a several months ago he has made some great changes.. New chef, great vibe and...Tony’s trivia is always a highlight.
Food and service are outstanding! With Tony in charge you know you have a winner!
Tony is the man! J House is back as a go to place!
The noise level was loud, but it was because of the band the food was very overpriced for the value. I prob would not go back
Great food and ambiance!
We had to wait 1.5 hours for our appetizers and then another hour for our main course. Major issues in the kitchen. Though they handled this major issue professionally by comping our meal they claim to be having kitchen transition issues for the next few weeks. This will have a major impact on business! The atmosphere is sleek and the menu selection is appealing. Food was awkwardly presented-- thrown hastily on plate--again a kitchen problem. Maitre D was welcoming but staff needs to have a better hold over kitchen/service coordination. Once this is worked out it will be a worthwhile reservation.
I go there a lot. This time there was a problem. The service was terrible. They did not have enough help. It took forever to get a drink and the meal. Twice I had to leave the table to find s waiter. We had two salads. For 22 dollars, I have seen a better presentation at a inexpensive place. It also tasted mediocre.
Super fun time with amazing band, great service, food and overall a great experience.
This was my 2nd time dining here within a month. The space is very lovely, inside or out. It was a beautiful night and we would have sat outside but we were told that the band was about to start playing. Now, that may be an attraction for some but the 4 of looked at each other and said, "indoors please!!" The band was pretty bad (the inside is open to the outside so you can hear it) and not what I would have wanted in my face at dinner, but that's just my personal opinion.
The food was very good, except the chicken martini which sorely lacked flavor (probably salt). Other than that we enjoyed everything!
Great food! Highly recommend
Tony’s J House!!!!!
Food was excellent; service was excellent. I did not even find the cost to be exorbitant. It was a bit loud.
Ask Tony questions about The Godfather ... try to stump him. Good luck with that ...
Classy but not stuffy. Attentive service. Well paced meal. Broad menu of refined classic items.
Very good food but menu changes & now more Italian dishes than in the past. A little disappointed
as the town already has so many of these types of restaurants. Prices also seem a bit high as extra
sides really increase the price per person.
Appalling service and this is my second try. If it wasn’t for the early hour to meet up with close friends, I would never return. It’s so sad, as the restaurant and hotel atmosphere are fantastic! We had to wait 20 minutes to get our coffee, and that’s only because I flagged down the hostess!
The service and quality of food was exceptional. Under new ownership and Anthony is the quintessential maitre de / proprietor. Our waiter was excellent too. Can't wait to taste the new menus in the fall.
We loved the ambience, especially the music. Tony is always so welcoming . Loved my dinner. Definitely returning soon.
Nice place with pleasant, although a little bit "fake friendly" servers and live music. The wine list has some good high end wines, but very few moderately priced good wines. We had oysters to start: Blue Points and Kumomotos. The Blue Points were outstanding, but the Kumomotos were mushy. When I mentioned it to the waiter, he started to tell me that West Coast oysters tend to be mushy. When I explained that I had lived in LA for 20 years and had eaten dozens of West Coast oysters and knew exactly how Kunomotos should taste and that they weren't supposed to be almost liquidy, he backed off and said he'd tell the chef. My wife had a halibut special and I had the pork chop. Both were good. Neither was outstanding and for the price, they should have been better.
J House is wonderful! This was my second dinner here this month. The food was great and our server was lovely. Best veal parm ever! The atmosphere is really pretty, too.
We have been dining at the J House since it opened. We are frequent clients and recently since Tony has taken over, we are visiting even more, sometimes twice a week. The menu is updated and fantastic, the wine list is revamped and the desert menu is great. We would recommend for any type of dining and especially for large parties, they have a great venue.
It was terrific
Love the direction of Tony’s JHouse. Can’t wait till the remodel / relaunch. We’ve followed Tony and his crew & they always make it a fun & entertaining evening.
Four of the seven orders were wrong. And, two of the people had to send their food back three times or more because it just wasn’t cooked! The service was horrific. The manager seemed upset and nervous. The bus boy was the only one who seemed relaxed. Horrific. Will not be back for Food.
Great atmosphere and value for happy hour! We were ballin' on a budget while a man next to me ordered a $200 bottle of champagne. The hotel was also nice to stroll through and see the cool art and displays throughout. Overall I would visit again!
Super quiet during the week. Beautiful patio, but humidity kept us inside. Food is good, but please do something about the flys! Always swatting when we're there.
Delicious meal. One disappointment: bring back the AMAZING Gazpacho!!! All 4 of uscame for it.
I want this review to be helpful to diners and to he restaurant. The place is beautiful, the decor is inviting and sophisticated. The service is attentive and smart. TONY is a gem! Such a lovely restaurant needs tablecloths and proper place settings—not silverware wrapped in napkins on bare tables. The wine list is smart and broad.
But the food is not at the same high level as the restaurant’s ambience. Our meal was simply not delicious, everything is oversauced. Nothing was wrong but it was far from excellent. I wish I could say otherwise because J House is a great place to go and hang.
The staff was friendly and kind. The food, pizza, appetizers (octopus, buratta) mains were not worth the high prices on the menu.
Slow service with food not worth the price. So many better places to eat in Greenwich. Too bad as it is attractive space.
Great food n service first time will definitely go again can’t wait to see the renovations coming . In a hotel but didn’t feel like it had outdoor dining but crowded and noisy outside inside was quite with outdoor views
I recommend going! Surprised? Tony who used to be at Gabriels in downtown Greenwich is now here. I think he is the manager, but his specialty is entertaining the guests. He goes from table to table with interesting challenging questions such as "what is the largest city in the US without a major sports team?" He has a photographic memory and thousands of teasers to keep you guessing. Great guy with a big personality and a lot of fun. Go to see him! Definitely a five star personality.
The food is pedestrian. Not horrible but not good enough to attract you given all the alternatives.
The decor is fine. Can be a bit loud when heavily occupied. A lot of money was spent on this place by the developer. Too bad he can't find a good chef to go with it.
Our first visit and it won’t be our last. We sat outside had a fabulous meal and was listening to a great band. Can’t wait to go back.
Second time we have been here. Other than private clubs there are very few out door dining options where you do not face a road, this is one of them.
We all enjoyed our meals
Excellent service and food. Highly recommend! Very attentive staff and Tony is the BEST!!!
New Owner. Air conditioning not working and it was so hot.
No fans , just awful. Too hot to eat. Will not return
food and atmosphere was really nice, new menu, looking fwd to eating there again
I have enjoyed Happy Hour & apps regularly here but my first business dinner. We had hoped to dine outside but a rain storm stopped that process. Had a booth so comfortable & good
for business discussion. My meal was excellent & my two colleagues from Seattle (foodies)
were also very pleased. Tony is a delight & his staff now have his positive energy. I have a
SF friend in town this week & we will try lunch on the patio. It's a great addition!
One if the reasons that I enjoyed dining at J House, was because it had a creative menu. What a diapontnwntmwnt to learn that it now become Italian. Westchester does not need ANOTHER Italian restaurant. How boring!
Hoping they will return to an innovative cuisine.
