Delicious meal. One disappointment: bring back the AMAZING Gazpacho!!! All 4 of uscame for it.
I want this review to be helpful to diners and to he restaurant. The place is beautiful, the decor is inviting and sophisticated. The service is attentive and smart. TONY is a gem! Such a lovely restaurant needs tablecloths and proper place settings—not silverware wrapped in napkins on bare tables. The wine list is smart and broad.
But the food is not at the same high level as the restaurant’s ambience. Our meal was simply not delicious, everything is oversauced. Nothing was wrong but it was far from excellent. I wish I could say otherwise because J House is a great place to go and hang.
The staff was friendly and kind. The food, pizza, appetizers (octopus, buratta) mains were not worth the high prices on the menu.
Slow service with food not worth the price. So many better places to eat in Greenwich. Too bad as it is attractive space.
Great food n service first time will definitely go again can’t wait to see the renovations coming . In a hotel but didn’t feel like it had outdoor dining but crowded and noisy outside inside was quite with outdoor views
I recommend going! Surprised? Tony who used to be at Gabriels in downtown Greenwich is now here. I think he is the manager, but his specialty is entertaining the guests. He goes from table to table with interesting challenging questions such as "what is the largest city in the US without a major sports team?" He has a photographic memory and thousands of teasers to keep you guessing. Great guy with a big personality and a lot of fun. Go to see him! Definitely a five star personality.
The food is pedestrian. Not horrible but not good enough to attract you given all the alternatives.
The decor is fine. Can be a bit loud when heavily occupied. A lot of money was spent on this place by the developer. Too bad he can't find a good chef to go with it.
Our first visit and it won’t be our last. We sat outside had a fabulous meal and was listening to a great band. Can’t wait to go back.
Second time we have been here. Other than private clubs there are very few out door dining options where you do not face a road, this is one of them.
We all enjoyed our meals
Excellent service and food. Highly recommend! Very attentive staff and Tony is the BEST!!!
New Owner. Air conditioning not working and it was so hot.
No fans , just awful. Too hot to eat. Will not return
food and atmosphere was really nice, new menu, looking fwd to eating there again
I have enjoyed Happy Hour & apps regularly here but my first business dinner. We had hoped to dine outside but a rain storm stopped that process. Had a booth so comfortable & good
for business discussion. My meal was excellent & my two colleagues from Seattle (foodies)
were also very pleased. Tony is a delight & his staff now have his positive energy. I have a
SF friend in town this week & we will try lunch on the patio. It's a great addition!
One if the reasons that I enjoyed dining at J House, was because it had a creative menu. What a diapontnwntmwnt to learn that it now become Italian. Westchester does not need ANOTHER Italian restaurant. How boring!
Hoping they will return to an innovative cuisine.
Great to see Tony in his new home (brilliant steal by J House!). The outside patio is the best in the area - you forget that you are in Greenwich. The menu is changing as Tony and his chef bring in their high standards - so far so good. Menu options from reasonable to expensive allows for your own desired range of experiences (love Gabrielle's but always felt guilty about the price of our dinner). It will be fun to watch the restaurant transform and rumor is there will be a billboard with Tony on it! Oh boy....
We've known Tony for many years, he always makes every dinner a memorable evening!
It’s been a while since we’ve eaten here because I did not love the food the last time we had dinner at J house. I was pleasantly surprised by the food this time. Everything was very good and we enjoyed the live jazz band. We will be back soon.
been back twice recently, one experience better than the other. lovely to see famous charming maitre'd tony from valbella running the place, which suddently has a new energy not to mention a yummy new menu. service a little iffy, maybe worse...the place suddenly got busy and our servers sorta forgot us for a while. we were in no hurry. cocktails good. food better. we'll be back....for sure...it's back on our a list after a hiatus. thanks tony
Great food. Our vegan guests were accommodated with the preparation of a special dish.
We went for Father’s Day brunch and sat outside. The patio area was lovely. Three of the four of us ordered pancakes. They were very good but a rip off. $16 for three regular sized pancakes on a plate with literally nothing else on it. Not even one piece of fruit as a garnish. Service was lackluster. We had to track down a waiter and ask twice for syrup after the food arrived at the table. It was a fine meal but because of value and service I doubt we’ll go back.
Tony was awesome. Very personable and made it very special for us.
Great service, amazing ambiance, and I love how discreet they were about our anniversary celebration. I will definitely go back.
I love this restaurant and was even more excited to see Tony and Roberto (formerly of Gabriel’s) are now working here. Great sushi. Amazing entrees. Great ambience. Amazing service. I’ll be back!
The outdoor dining area was very nice. The food was good with interesting choices. Our waiter was absent for the latter half of the meal and we had to flag down other folks to get another drink. The band was not very good. For a place like that I would think that they would have a better selection of musical talent.
Birthday for daughter. Tony the new manager was terrific.
An old favorite. Service was a little slow and one of our party had fish that was overdone, but we still love the place.
Good but sorry To hear they are changing their menu to Italian steakhouse! Have
Enjoyed the eclectic menu previous manager and chef provided.
Service was not fabulous....when I arrived, the dining room was void of chairs and tables and the curtains drawn. When I found the reception desk, they quickly set up our table. Our waiter was surly and I was hesitant to ask for a refill on my coffee. Disappointed, as I usually adore this place. I was meeting up with my best friend and her family who were visiting from Vermont and I gave this establishment glowing reviews. Only saving grace was the house cured smoked salmon.
Salad great. Coffee like battery acid. Undrinkably strong. The place at lunch was so entirely crazy.... setting up for a bar mitzvah.... moving tables.....CHAOTIC.
Should have apologized to us! It was my birthday lunch.
We had a very nice meal. The carrot cake was excellent
Overall very good. Steak was undercooked. Corn bread was a disappointment. Had to wait for our check.
Brunch: Service wonderful. Grain appetizer good. Hamburger excellent except English muffin undercooked & soggy. Creme brûlée & bacon not good. Homemade ice cream fabulous.
Food was really good, service is very slow in the dining room. This is our 3rd visit and the dining room service is awful. Sit at the bar, food is good and service is excellent!
We really enjoy the J House as much in the summer on the outdoor patio as inside at one of the cozy booths. Food is varied and very good. Had the salmon sushi and guest had the prosciutto pizza and enjoyed each very much. But we came for the eggplant parmesan and it was not on the menu. Bring it back, please!
J House is a great place to meet colleagues for business meetings; meet friends for lunch or dinner or to schedule a quick coffee break in a beautifully appointed small boutique hotel that provides great service and a location that is easy for people to meet whether coming down from Stamford, or north from Westchester...or for people like me who live and work in Greenwich! As a marketing executive and event planner, I've worked closely with the hotel to plan a few successful corporate events and happy hour's. The J House is a great local venue that is located in an easy-to-get-to location on Route 1 and a perfect spot for a corporate meeting; a small family celebration like a birthday, wedding or Bar Mitzvah and the hotel features a restaurant that allows for quiet and productive business meetings-- as well as fun lunches or dinners with family and friends. I highly recommend the J House!
Good sushi. Great happy hour specials. Nice ambiance.
The H House is great because of two main reasons: the food is very good and the atmosphere is lovely. If you want to sit and not be bothered and have a nice dinner with a friend it is excellent. if you want a bit of a bar scene they have that two as well as a small Jazz band on some evenings. Will continue to go back there.
Went here for Valentines Day dinner. Absolutely fantastic. Great food and great service at a great value. Very elegant yet modern twist at the J House hotel!
We always have such a great experience at your restaurant whether it is for a quick drink or bite with a bunch of friends, a date night or an early dinner out with our kids!
Your servers are extremely helpful and courteous.
I recommend you all the time for different events, like MNO, tennis group get together, friends birthdays, MY birthday.
Keep up the good work, (and delicious food!!)
