Enjoyed a wonderful brunch on Saturday morning. Food was great and service was excellent and fun!!! Hot Browns are great but rich. Eggs Benedict were perfect.
Fabulous food, excellent service!
The brunch buffet looked outstanding but we went to have our first authentic Hot Brown. It was well worth it! We'll have to go back to try brunch next time we're in the area.
A great place visit to have the brown sandwich. The service was great!
A blast from the past. Eating a Kentucky Brown in a classic old dining room.
Nice staff and great food. The chairs need upgrading.
The food and drink were amazing. Had a hot brown and derby pie. Mint julep and bourbon bloody mary were awesome.
Everything went well. At restaurant after morning / lunch buffet so almost had the place to ourselves. Wait staff was in midst of change but our waiter was very pleasant and upbeat.
Beautiful old hotel setting and the dining room was likewise well appointed. The food was excellent. We had the buffet which was like a cruise ship. The bread pudding with caramel bourbon sauce was to die for. If ever in Louisville, we will go again.
The Hot Brown is exceptional. So's the iced
I had never been to J Graham’s Cafe. I read online that it was rated the best lunch downtown. I had two friends come to Louisville for the day. The overall ambience is dated. I had never had a Hot Brown before so I ordered it from the original source. Noted on the menu was it would take 20 minutes extra to prepare. Our order was out in well under ten minutes. I was disappointed in the meal itself. The sauce was “watery” and the turkey was not tender. I wondered if it was pre-made and heated up? My friends politely, but with no enthusiasm, thought it was a “good” experience. Overall, just an OK outing for me.
There is no way I would come to Louisville and not eat a Hot Brown! I did and it was amazing! The turkey was hand-carved and the sauce sublime, a perfect pairing with the fresh tomatoes and toast points. It was almost too much to eat but I powered through and enjoyed every last calorie-ridden bite. The J. Graham Cafe inside the Brown Hotel is elegant yet not stuffy. The decor is in soft yellow and cream tones and invites you to relax. Dress during the lunch hour ranged from casual to sophisticated. The woman, who I presumed to be the manager, was everywhere, making sure guests were comfortable and being served, chatting with the guests, she was always on the move to ensure everyone's best experience and offering the Hot Brown recipe that she suggested makes a great dip. Kudos to her and the J Graham.
There was some confusion over our reservation which they initially thought was for two. I had to show the electronic confirmation of the reservation. We got seated at a table for 7 which tells me that they had no table for four.
Once seated, the food was very good and the service professional.
J Graham's Hot Brown is simply the best. The service is outstanding. Always a treat to go here.
Delicious brunch and wonderful service!
This is the restaurant in the famous Brown Hotel. It lives up to is reputation. The food is all excellent and the bartender has specialty craft cocktails that are well-crafted and excellent.
A necessary stop for a full experience in Louisville! From the (first) Brown Bloody Mary and fabulous food, this rounded out our stay in the Derby City!!
We went for breakfast and were not disappointed! Lena was super friendly!
The whole experience was wonderful from the time we entered until the time we left!
Have to have the Hot Brown!!! Absolutely delicious. Great service too!
You must have the Hot Brown and Derby Pie! Love that they give the recipe for the Hot Brown but I know mine won’t compare.
My fiancé and I were visiting from out of town and had a fabulous brunch date! I couldn’t decide between the amazing buffet or a Hot Brown ( which I have never had). Chef Arkan Bajalani overheard my dilemma and he offered a wonderful solution. He suggested I order the buffet so I could try the incredible delectable desserts and lobster corn and bourbon maple pork roast, and he would bring me a piping hot fresh bowl of his latest creation: Hot Brown Pasta! It was a perfect solution and such a great surprise. Chef Arkan went out of his way to make our date memorable and special along with the rest of the incredibly attentive staff! Thank you so much! Southern hospitality at its finest !
Went for A Sunday breakfast (wife wanted their famous Hot Brown). Food expertly prepared and Regina, our server, was excellent. Highly recommend at any time but certainly great for a relaxed Sunday morning outing.
Beautiful hotel. Go early or stay late to look around at the history and the historical pieces near the entrance. Service was great!
I MUST SAY THAT THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE OVER ALL ,FROM THE YOUNG LADY VALET TO THE LOVELY SMILE HOSTESS TO OUR SERVER REGINA,SHE IS GREAT & ENTHUSIASTIC WHICH OLD FOLKS SO ENJOY. THE DECOR AND SURROUNDING WAS BRIGHT AND PLEASING TO THE EYE. THE ONLY THING IF I HAD T/ O SAY SOMETHING SOMEWHAT NEGATIVE, WAS OUR TABLE WAS BEHIND A PILLAR AND WE WERE KINDA ISOLATED BUT DIDN'T AFFECT THE EXPERIENCE VERY MUCH. THANK YOU AND WE W ILL BE BACK!
Famous for being the birthplace of the Hot Brown, their version does not disappoint. Creamy, rich, and decadent, slices of turkey and bacon over toast, smothered with a Mornay sauce with Parmesan cheese, with tomato halves to bring some needed acidity. The $20 price point is fair, given its fame (other places in town are a few bucks cheaper). The ambiance is far more Old World elegant and refined than the pictures suggest. Staff is all smiles and friendly throughout, exemplifying that famous Southern charm.
great food, services and always good to be downtown at the Brown.
Had to have the famous Hot Brown. Disappointed. Two huge hunks of roasted turkey smothered in a thick Morney sauce topped with more cheese. Not what I expected.
The staff was super friendly. The Hot Brown was yummy. It was sweet of our server to give us a free dessert for our birthday!
Biscuits were cold . Limited selection for the price . Did not have some basic condiments such as jelly .
I would not return .
Overall a disappointment in view of the hype. Serve coffee which was bitter and only lukewarm.
Many of the but they items were lukewarm. Somewhat strange items offered for a Sunday buffet.
Omelette Chef was too busy talking and got my order incorrect. Pastry choice was excellent. Limited fruit choices.
Fully recommendable. Service was outstanding and food was really great as well. Hot brown specialty deserves a visit to this place
We took our family out to brunch when my parents were in town to give them a classic Louisville experience and was not disappointed. The food was excellent and the service was impeccable. Our server's timing and understanding of those diners eating off the menu for The Hot Brown vs those of us eating the brunch buffet made the meal that much more enjoyable. Highly recommend when entertaining out of town guests.
The atmosphere is great. The service is excellent and so is the wait staff. Bartender makes the best Old Fashion anywhere. And unless you have had a Hot Brown here, you have not had a Hot brown!
the filipino staff was amazing and friendly
Although I've lived in Louisville my entire life, I've never had a hot brown at the Brown Hotel. That changed this week and it was worth every penny. Treat yourself (and your friends/family) to this wonderful meal....you won't be sorry! The hot brown was perfect in every way!
The Brown Hotel is so lovely!
Excellent! We come every time! Food was great and service was excellent
Had to try hot brown sandwich where it was invented and it far exceeded my expectations. Also tried a bourbon flight. The hostess even brought me a recipe for the sandwich. It was a wonderful experience.
