J. Gilbert’s – Wood Fired Steaks & Seafood - Worthington Ratings and Reviews
Wonderful upscale dining experience. Our server(Kaylyn sp?) was very friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Our party of five all had various steaks prepared perfectly to each persons request.
The bone-in ribeye is fantastic. The signature cocktails and after dinner coffees were excellent, though a little pricey. Free desserts for Birthdays was a nice plus. Cozy atmosphere. Will definitely return.
Made reservations using Open Table for a Birthday dinner with family on a Sunday. We were seated within 5 minutes and our waitress acknowledged us right away. Food was excellent cooked to our liking. Birthday wishes aplenty! Didn’t feel rushed in any way. Most enjoyable evening! Thank you!
Fantastic experience! As always! J. Gilberts is one of our favorites! Friends joined us and enjoyed it too. The staff is wonderful, from the host and hostesses to the wait staff, to the bartenders. Food is just delicious from start to finish. Steaks, scallops, shrimp, risotto, bread, salads, soup.....have never had anything that we didn't enjoy.
We have been going to J. Gilberts for years . This time our meal were again very good, except my steak I ordered. Normally I get the ribeye, but I decided to try their featured steak 16 oz dry aged Kansas City Strip. I ordered it Med Rare and it came out extremely rare. It came back almost 15 min later, acceptable. I found this steak lacking in flavor and very over priced at $54.
Let me start off by saying they corrected everything. 3 of us went out for a friends birthday and the kitchen screwed up each of our orders. They were busy (we had reservations for 6:45 and were not seated until 7-7:05) but I've never experienced anything like this before from this restaurant. It was disappointing. I will now think twice before I come back for a special occasion.
We have visited J Gilbert's many times and each time has been perfect: excellent service, exceptional food, awesome handcrafted cocktails. The atmosphere is cozy and great for those who like to people-watch. I would recommend this restaurant for special occasions or just any occasion.
This is our third time there and it's been outstanding each time. It's pricey but well worth it. Alan was our server this last time and he was amazing! To be honest we haven't had a bad experience and all of our servers were wonderful. I'm a steak girl and the ribeye and filet are my favorite. I highly recommend and can't wait to go back!
Our visit to J. Gilbert’s was wonderful as always! Delicious food & great service! We told our server we were in a hurry to go to an Ohio State Women’s Basketball game - so he helped speed our check out along & got us on our way in plenty of time for the game. We have been there many times & never have been disappointed - food is always excellent! I had the George’s Bank Sea Scallops & my husband had the rack of ribs. Both were outstanding! One of our favorite places to dine in Columbus!
New Years day is an annual event for our family at J. Gilberts. The steaks were done perfectly and the sides were the perfect compliments. The carrot cake continues to be a favorite and we expanded the desert choice by adding crème brulee this year......it didn't disappoint. The service was great. Very enjoyable evening.
We love dining at J. Gilbert's. We had an issue with a steak being overdone once, and it was taken care of. Other than that one instance, we haven't had a meal we didn't like. We always have good service. We generally request a particular server when we go now, just because she is so personable. The filet and scallop combo is delicious. If you can't decide on a side dish, choose the creamed corn. You won't be disappointed.
Our food was sadly pretty bad. Overcooked scallops (Ugh) and salmon; undercooked steak. The plates were hot; alas, the food was not. Salamanders are not your friend, Chef, even on a busy night. The service was fine, but not great. The atmosphere is very nice but we were a group of four seated at a 6 top in the middle of the room with an empty, cozy booth right behind us.
Relatively expensive food for people who work hard for our money. We have to be selective. We felt we were making a good choice, but it was money and time wasted. So disappointing :(.
It was my first visit to J. Gilbert's and I was thoroughly impressed with the tasty food, variety offered, and the New Year's Eve special menu. The inside had a nice ambience and our waitress was friendly and very professional. I would definitely go to J. Gilbert's again.
This was our 2nd visit here and both times we went on New Years eve. We were blown away in our 1st visit, everything was excellent. This time around our expectations were high and honestly I’m not sure I would go back. Our waitress was great, accidentally brought out the wrong desert but realized it right away and corrected it. Other than that she was attentive and polite. My husband and I both got steaks and salad. My steak was not as good as last time, even harder to chew and it was not because of the medium well I had it cooked too. There was a lot of pink in it. Salad was just ok. The wild mushroom side I did get was amazing! So food compared to outback and I expected more. Bathroom was messy, toilet paper on th floor. Restaurant was decorated wrapped Christmas presents which was nice except they had a layer of dusty on them. All in all it was good but not worth the price.
We went to J Gilbert’s for dinner on NYE. Restaurant was busy but service was excellent. Our waiter was Jackson and he did a great job serving us and made the meal fun as well. Entree was served almost too fast as we had not finished our salads when entrees were brought to our table.
Food was excellent. Wait staff were great! We made reservations on November 19th for New Year’s Eve for 6 people. Our table was across from the coat rack. JGilberts should have a coat room separate from the dining area. Also, round tables as parties of more than 4 aren’t able to talk to one another when six of us are in a booth.
I usually love this location. This time, the steak smelled terrible as if it was rotting. The brisket Mac and cheese was doused in liquid smoke to the point where we could not even eat it without gagging. Service was amazing as always, but was left very dissappointed in the money spent for this dinner.
