    J Gilbert’s does not disappoint! Great food, service and atmosphere. Bone-in ribeye and filet mignon are 1st class; the creamed corn is amazing. The carrot cake is wonderful. It’s pricey but love it for special occasions.

    We’ve been visiting and enjoying the restaurant for more than 15 years. Our meal last night was just simply horrible. With all the options out there this might be our last dining experience there.

    One of the worst dining experiences we have ever had. Brought salad before appetizers which took forever. Manager apologized and said the chef didn't like the small of the fried calamari and did them over. Said no charge because of the wait. Food finally arrived. Crab cakes, salmon, and ribs were OK. 2 people ordered medium burgers which were well done. Sent back. After long wait, replacements were well done too. We ordered a $42 bottle of wine but were charged for an $86 bottle. Server was perplexed. Manager comped all of the food. Qualifies as the top 1 or 2 of horrible restaurant dining experiences ever. Might be difficult for us to go back again.

    I feel like this location has slipped in the last year. Our last dinner there was average but last night's dinner was a failure on all phases. Snotty server, undercooked seafood and cold asparagus. We ate in the bar so maybe the service standards are less? I literally had to get up from our table twice to talk to our server. I don't expect we'll be going back

    Great night out to try the lobster tail as the "fish" and chips special. Lightly fried with chef's side sauces was a nice twist on this dish. Dining partner enjoyed a delicious strip steak with generous side dishes. We opted for gin cocktails, a French 75 and When life gives you lemongrass, created with Gray Whale gin. They were wonderful and we only needed one each to feel satisfied. Appetizer was a dozen fresh Beau Soleil oysters, and we could have easily eaten more of those. Excellent evening.

    My guests Anna I loved everything about J. Gilbert’s. From the food to our server Haudesia was awesome! Even my leftovers were good! Can't wait to visit again it was a great way to celebrate our anniversary!

    Waited over 90 minutes before our food came. Inattentive server. Rarely checked on us. Had to go to the front desk to ask about our food as we watched others who came in after us getting their meals. 90 minutes and only bread? Our food was OK. Nothing special, unfortunately. The manager was very apologetic and gave us a substantial discount but this is our 3rd try here and it has been the same every time: overpriced food, noisy atmosphere, subpar service and a weak bar when it comes to beer selection.

    The taste of the food really wasn't worth the cost. Steaks could've been better. The crab cake was so dry, not good at all. Steak wasn't juicy and I ordered it medium rare. I never got the drink I ordered. The wedge salad was very tasteless with watery lettuce. So expensive for what we got.

    Overall, a very nice experience. A bit pricey, but when we got the steak, it was well worth it. Nice to have sides that are different that can’t be find elsewhere.

    We were greeted right away by the hostess and our server. However, after she took our drink order she disappeared for 10 minutes to come get our food order. She only had one other table, so this was a little long. We finally ordered and we received our food in a decent amount of time. We had to hunt down someone to get a steak knife as our food was getting cold. We were not given all our food, so we had to wait 5 more minutes to speak with the server. We got the additional food we ordered after 10 minutes or so we thought, the food that was brought was wrong. We were going to say something but again the server was nowhere to be found. We ordered dessert and after 15 minutes we finally got this. We have been there at least 10 times and I expected more!?

    The food is absolutely the BEST. Filet fabulous, augratin potatoes unequaled, and wedge salad beautiful and delicious. This dinner is my favorite all time dinner in the world and we eat out a lot. Service is always tops and heads up to our waiter Hannah!!! Our 4th time this summer for the same meal!

    Found the place by happenstance, but have to say it was one of THE best restaurant me also offered my life!! Had the $64 fixed-income price menu; filet was perfectly medium rare, scallops were spot on in cook and taste, and the carrot cake nearly stole the show! I only wish I lived in the Columbus area now!!!!

    My scallops were amazing but my husbands prix fixe meal had the wrong steak… which wasn’t a big deal until he realized it was cooked to medium well… steak he ordered was medium rare. But… servers in the bar made it right & gave us a bill credit. Mistakes happen… this isn’t typical for J. Gilbert’s. Won’t stop us from coming back. And… cocktails were delicious!

    We had both steak and seafood and everything was delicious and cooked as requested. The waiter was pleasant and responsive. The high backed booths keep the noise to a level that conversation is easy.

    We miss the bar menu including sliders and the samplers, as well as the grilled veggie plate, the heirloom carrots, the chicken tortilla soup and the catch of the day. The pastrami butter is not as good as it once was. But most of why we had was as good as always.
