J. Gilberts is our GO TO place for special occasions.
This visit was just what we are used to GREAT SERVICE, FABULOUS FOOD, AND FRIENDLY PEOPLE.
We highly recommend J. Gilberts.
Excellent meal and service! J Gilbert’s is always a wonderful experience. We will definitely return. I had the sea bass special - delicious. My one recommendation - turn down the popular music or change the music to a jazz or some other soothing music.
Birthday celebration, server did the best he could and the food and drinks were excellent. Everything was slow to get out and the server had way too many tables to wait on for excellent service.
My girlfriend and I waited an hour to get our food. I ordered a medium rare steak, but it came out very rare. I had to send it back to be recooked. They forgot my girlfriend's fennel salad on her lobster risotto. Charged us way too much for the quality of food that we got and for the wait we had to sit through. Will never be going back here again.
The food was amazingly flavorful!!!! Going back again and I can’t wait!!!!!!
It was overall ok, but for $250 meal, I expected more. The cocktails were excellent. The food was good, not great.
The service was great, however. Our server was excellent.
It’s also worth mentioning that the booth seat was broken and literally fell off the base when I stood up. Again, for such a pricey meal I’d expect better.
My sister's and I had a delicious meal for my bday. Lots of good choices on menu, we sat at a table in the bar for appetizers and drinks with dinner afterwards. Recommend the 3 course filet combo, it was excellent! Fun evening, great food and good company!
Great service. Delicious steaks. A little noisy, but the noise level went down after a large party of boisterous men left.
Bleu cheese potato chips and cocktails were great. Went downhill from there. Server may have been new, but was not stated. Didn't know the menu real well was absent a bit. Lobster tails were over cooked, side of mushrooms was burnt and flavorless (credited). Filet was butterfly cut without asking - we would have said no. I expect much better when paying this much. May have been an off night as they had two large parties.
The food was excellent, but the service was not, it took a half an hour just to get the waiter to take our order, and the slow service continued the rest of the night. Everything else was top notch.
The food was delicious and the proportions were just right. Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful.
Waited for over an hour and 10 min to find out they lost our order . I felt bad for our waitress she apologized.
Was a nice evening but the service was slow. Food was lacking in flavor. Completely overpriced for what you got .
This is awesome place great food
We absolutely love this restaurant. Great ambiance with excellent service and very high quality steaks and seafood. It’s are favorite when we want to spoil ourselves.
The strip steak was delicious-not one bite of waste. It was prepared perfectly. Jackson, the waiter, was excellent and knowledgeable with wine suggestions and entrees. We sat near the fireplace, which was very relaxing. Lots of choices on the menu and sides were included with the price of the entree. We could choose a different side if we didn't care for the one which came with the entree. So nice!
Food was fabulous. Our server was awesome. And of course our company was terrific.
Our server was not as attentive as we would have liked.
We have a great meal and the waitress was wonderful. The staff here is excellent
Excellent food at a reasonable price! Jackson is a great waiter:)!!
Top marks to the kitchen for producing delicious seafood in a timely fashion.
The servers need a few adjustments, but nothing that would cause me distress.
Shavann was very helpful.
Very nice dinner. Food was good and our server was excellent. It is expensive, guests should know that going in.
Great waiter and experience.
The food was very good and the filet mignon was outstanding. Definitely would recommend for great steak dinner. The pricing is on the higher side for those who are looking for value pricing.
Received a coupon for my half birthday and decided to celebrate. I had rack of lamb and wife had mixed seafood grill. Both of us had salads first. Decided to skip the appetizer since entrée portions are generally large. Everything came out in proper order and we never felt rushed to finish one course as the next one arrived. For dessert we split an order of ice cream. You get 3 scoops of house-maid sorbet or ice cream. We had raspberry and vanilla ice cream and the 3rd scoop was peach sorbet. From house salads, which are huge, to dessert, everything was excellent and our server, Mercedes, made sure our ice tea didn't run out.
Love J Gilbert's. Always a Great Meal and experience
Great dinner with my wife on date night. Cajun smoked filet is best in class.
It was a great experience and food was amazing!
Food and service were excellent. The place is a little too dark to read the menu. That a side we had a wonderful time.
We love J. Gilbert’s - the food was great and since we were a party of 7, we loved being in one of the alcove rooms! The only disappointment was that they did nothing for my son’s birthday. I noted in the reservation that we had a birthday and told them again when we arrived that it was my sons 18th birthday so it was a special night out for him and us, but they did not acknowledge it at all the entire evening. We gave him gifts at the table, so it was pretty obvious that it was a special event! I wasn’t expecting to get anything for free, but it would have been nice if they at least put a candle in his dessert or somehow acknowledged his birthday. We love it there and will be back I’m sure, it just would have been nice if they helped to make the night special.
Sea bass was good. Service is great. Love this restaurant.
Our favorite restaurant in Columbus. We were there to celebrate our son's college graduation. It's tough on restaurants now due to staffing shortages and a dining out comeback. We were very happy with our service. I admire the manager for stepping up and cleaning tables to prepare for guests efficiently. The only glitch was the front desk initially assigned us to a table too small for 4 people, but that was quickly solved. We enjoyed the large seafood platter as a shared appetizer - everything was fresh and delicious/ served with a variety of sauces. Their bread and butter is always good also. For entrees, one had the mixed seafood grill, one had twin lobster tails, two had the triple filet with 3 different sauces. Everything cooked perfectly including the sides. My son particularly likes the au gratin potatoes with poblano peppers and the creamed corn with bacon. I prefer the asparagus. DESSERT!! all their desserts are delicious, but the chocolate velvet cake is awesome! worth making room for.
Server was very nice and helpful! Food was good, as always.
Food was good but expensive. Decor is desperately in need of updating.
Maybe I am nostalgic, but I remember J. Gilbert’s being a great place to eat around 10 years ago. We went last night for a birthday dinner, and my experience was not nearly as good as in the past. The food was good, but not worth the price. The service was mediocre. The server must have been busy, because we could never get his attention to get drinks. He probably walked by us 10 times without even glancing in our direction. I practically had to tackle him to order a 2nd beer. Then it was probably 15 minutes before I got it. Overall, we had a very average experience. There are better places to drop $200 on a meal. 3 stars at best, and that is probably generous.
We absolutely love this place and the employees that works there. Everyone truly cares about giving you a great experience!
Wonderful in every way. We like our filet mignon well done and at JGilberts it is still very tender and flavorful. They have a nice selection of side dishes, however the pecans in my green beans tasted a bit burnt. Their deserts are amazing and large. Our wait person was wonderful - attentive enough yet gave us space and time so we did not feel rushed.
Excellent food service and ambience. Will go again
As always, wonderful food, outstanding service, and more reasonably priced than other high-end steak restaurants!
It was our Anniversary & the hostess told us Happy Anniversary but our waitress didn’t acknowledge it. We ordered a bottle of wine and she brought it out & said it wasn’t chilled but would we want it over ice. We said no & she offered a different bottle which had a screw top. Not good at all. The food was fabulous though. No one wore masks besides us and the wait staff. They need to step up to the standards that the Cameron Mitchell restaurants are taught.
