   We've been going to J. Gilbert's for over 10 years, and it has really gone downhill over the past few years. Cocktails with mostly ice, undercooked vegetables and missing ingredients. Just not a fan favorite anymore! The only thing that has been consistent is the crab bisque, Caesar salad and steaks. Our seasonal cocktail was filled to the brim with ice, not worth $10. We both had vegetables, creamed corn had zero cream or spices (served asked to replace 15 minutes after our food came out), green beans we under cooked and the carrots were under cooked. Overall a disappointing experience as we continue to return.

   Food was excellent. Service was on point. Hostess sat us at a table close to the the door where the staff was coming in and out of the kitchen constantly yet there were many other tables open. Mentioned it to her but nothing came of it. Noise level couldn’t be helped by the restaurant due to large Birthday party that was quite loud.

   While the overall ambiance and service were satisfactory, I was disappointed with the quality of the steak, which needed to be cooked to the desired temperature. Upon placing my order for a medium with a push, I had high expectations, given the restaurant's reputation. Unfortunately, when the dish arrived, it was clear that the steak was undercooked. The meat appeared more towards medium-rare-lacking the more browned meat with a slightly pink center. The overcooked steak significantly impacted the taste and tenderness of the meat. As a result, the flavors were muted, and the overall dining experience was diminished. In terms of service, the server was friendly and attentive throughout the meal, offering to return the steak to the kitchen to be "put back on the grill." When I brought the problem with that offer to her attention, she apologized and offered to replace the steak. However, considering the time and inconvenience involved, I declined the offer. Given your reputation, I expected a higher level of culinary expertise and attention to detail. Properly cooking steaks to the requested temperature should be a fundamental skill for any restaurant specializing in steak dishes. Unfortunately, the subpar execution in this particular instance left me disappointed.

    It was our first time there, the place was amazing. We were gifted with a free dessert for our anniversary. Super sweet! The staff was extremely nice and helpful when we had questions. What can I say about the food, delicious. My husband said best filet he has ever had, the maple salmon was so good. You can’t go wrong dining at J. Gilbert’s. We brought home the carrot cake, wow is all I have.

    Our waiter Matt was exceptional. All of our food was delicious and cooked perfectly. Went for an anniversary dinner and we were treated so well with even a hand written note. My husband and I are from Michigan-he is in town on work. We talked about traveling back just to visit again.

    The food was terrific - great presentation and served nice and hot. However, the service left much to be desired. Went on a Tuesday night so there was not an overwhelming crowd. We were seated quickly but wait quite a while for our server. Then waited for our drinks. Meals came out in reasonable time. But then waited for refills on drinks. Then waited for desert, then waited for checks. You get the point.

    Candace P did an outstanding job serving us. Once she knew about gluten free requirements, she checked with the chef regarding toppings/dressings. She also apologized for not having gluten free bread. She is an asset at J. Gilbert's. A booth in the bar is a great location.

    This was my first time a J Gilbert's. At first the service was great. I had a reservation and we were seated immediately. We noticed that the place was almost completely empty. We ordered the oysters rockefeller , 2 filets medium rare and a salad with ranch dressing. It took 30 minutes to get the oysters and another 15-20 to get the salad. The salad had blue cheese dressing so we sent it back and skipped it since it took awhile to get it. We then waited another 30-40 minutes for the filets. My filet was under cooked so I returned that as well but, wanted another. My dates meal was perfect and was enjoyed. Another 15-20 minutes later i recieved a new filet cooked perfectly and began eating. Just 5 or 10 minutes after that we were asked if we needed a box for our leftovers. Keep in mind all this time we only saw our sever once. After the complaints we saw others but not our server. she only appeared to be interested in getting us to leave. Having said all this the food we ate was great! Don't know what was going on with the service.

    We had a wonderful experience! The steak was smokey and tender; it melts in your mouth! They have my favorite Pinot Noir, Belle Glos Clark & Telephone by the glass. The potatoes au gratin were amazing, as always. Life is good!

    This restaurant is one of our favorites. It was a great experience with excellent food. Little on the pricey side for a lunch ($250 for 2 folks), but it was Mother's Day and we had a bottle of wine, etc. So not too expensive.

    We have always loved J Gilberts. Quality of the steak was still good and cooked properly. Apps were kind of OK. Calamari and Blue Cheese chips. Calamari was average and $15 for a bowl of potato chips with blue cheese sauce is a little ridiculous. It is a large bowl, but how much of that stuff can you really eat? I didn't love the house salad. All at our table went with the filet/combo that had a 4 oz filet and scallops. All were good. Dessert was fine, but nothing special. All in all, J Gilberts is a great restaurant that I will go back to.

    The food was excellent as usual. They were either busy or short staffed as service was slow, though it did not impact the quality of the meal. We were there to celebrate a 91st birthday and the staff failed to recognize the event despite including it in the reservation. We really didn’t need free dessert but my mom would have gotten some joy if someone had mentioned it. We all enjoyed ourselves and our waitress was very thorough and polite when she did attend to us.
