J. Gilbert’s Wood-Fired Steaks & Seafood - West County Center Ratings and Reviews
Our steaks were cooked to perfection, juicy and delicious. The large selection of sides are diverse and offer fresh vegetables and house made potatoes. We love the prefix menu selections and combinations which come with seafood selections and dessert choices.
We had an amazing time celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary! It never disappoints and the fresh sourdough bread is to die for; along with the wild mushroom risotto. He both had filet Oscar that were AH mazing!! Our server was just beyond! The right amount of attention and food came out perfectly not on top of each other! Wouldn't have had a better experience anywhere else. Our favorite place for a steak in St Louis!!
My only complaint is. We made 7:30 reservations and we were seated maybe 5 mins after. However even after ordering our food in a very reasonable time it took over an hour to get our meal. I remember saying to the server, "I've been waiting so long I almost forgot I was hungry!" I was offered a dessert but needless to say I reminded the server that a dessert was included in my order.
I'm in no way blaming the server. He was fantastic. It wasn't particularly crowded so I'm not sure why it took so long
It was a good place to catch up with friends over good food. We went with pre fix three-course meal options. Portions are generous without being excessive. The wait staff was attentive, without being intrusive. It was busy, but we were not rushed. The way seating is organized keeps it quiet enough to have a conversation. We will go again.
The steak was delicious, although we asked for ours to be cooked medium well and it came out medium.
The butter that is served with the bread needs help. Pretty tasteless. This quality restaurant should serve real butter, not a fluffy whip that barely tastes like butter.
The baked potato and the sautéed spinach were also delicious.
What a great find for dinner before the Fox Theater. A very light crowd gave us our choice of seating. The scallops, lump crab cake, and lobster mac and cheese we're phenomenal. If you want to impress your woman, it's a great date night find. The staff was excellent and extremely friendly.
We enjoyed our time a JGilbert for a get together with friends. The ambiance is rich without being fancy. Our foursome enjoyed a variety of items. Crab bisque, wedge salad, tuna tartar, halibut , filet and lamb. All of the food was served correctly and it was delicious. Jason, our server, was efficient and friendly. This meal was so much better than a recent visit to another high end steak house in our town. We decided for our next special occasion we would return!
This was the second time that I was in St Louis and the second time at J Gilbert's.
We were looking for a good steak/seafood place.
The food is excellent as is the atmosphere. Not to mention that the wood fragrance when you come in is amazing
The service the first time was outstanding as was the food, so we wanted to return this year.
Last year we did not have reservations so we sat in the bar, which was still very nice. You hardly noticed that it was the bar.
This year we had reservations and sat in the dining room that was very nice! Even though it was 90 degrees outside, the fireplace was one. Very nice!
The food was again, very good. There was flexibility in the sides which was wonderful.
All in all a good experience again. If I am every near a J Gilbert again, I will be dining there!
Handicapped hard of hearing solved in high back booths. Grilled veggies entree perfect for vegetarian and the whole grilled carrots in balsamic "paste" were the best ever. Even the baked potato had special taste and flavor . The inhouse made sorbet was light way to end up. My wife's sirloin was done rare, just as ordered .
We went to J. Gilbert's on a Sat. afternoon. We were seated quickly and serviced well by our waiter Sam. Sam was very informative with our questions concerning the menu and wine selection.
We ordered the onion rings which were delicious. My wife had a salad that was very fresh and tasty. My wife ordered a surf and turf special (filet and lobster tail) and I had a bone in ribeye steak. Whenever possible my wife has the lobster tail at J.Gilberts. Her filet and lobster tail were fantastic. My steak was was so big that I took over half of it home. It was tender and cooked exactly how i asked for.
In many visits to J.Gilberts we have never been disappointed by the food, service or quality. It is pricey but well worth it.
