J. Gilbert’s Wood-Fired Steaks & Seafood - West County Center Ratings and Reviews
Waited far too long for various courses. When mentioned to the server, he let the manager know. Manager came by to explain that a party of 100 in the back room was the issue. He apologized but failed to provide any comp on the bill. Poor form given the normal attention to customer satisfaction.
Our experience, in a word, was excellent. The food was perfect and the service superior; it could not have been better. Although we brought our own wine (2010 Duckhorn Merlot), the wine list here is extensive and a good recommendation is available if one so desires. This place rates very high on our list.
Spent Thanksgiving Dinner with my husband at J.Gilbert's. Exceptional experience as always. That is why we choose J. Gilbert's. Consistently top notch food and service. They never let us down. Justin was our server and he took excellent care of us with wine and appetizer recommendations and just the right amount of attention throughout our dinner. We started with Shrimp Durango and warm bread; Justin reminded us to dip the bread in the Durango sauce. Excellent tip even though I am partial to butter. Delicious with a nice glass of Cabernet. Traditional turkey dinner was available but we went with our favorites, wood grilled ribs and mesquite grilled chicken breast. The ribs were fall off the bone fabulous and the chicken was crispy on the outside and delightfully moist inside. Yukon mashed potatoes and green beans with pecans complemented the ribs and parmesan herb roasted potatoes and grilled asparagus with the chicken made perfect combinations. J Gilbert's is always a great experience whether a special occasion or lunch with the family. This is definitely our go to dinner spot!! We love everything about J. Gilbert's.
The food was great. The service was excellent. We especially enjoyed the fresh iced tea brewed at our table. The steaks are delicious. We love the shrimp Durango appetizer. The atmosphere suggests elegance without being arrogant. Overall it was a very enjoyable dining experience.
Food was very good and the service itself was excellent. What wasn't good was the hostess(s). No smiles and kept walking around sizing us up to see when we were leaving. Very uncomfortable feeling. Informed the server since he did such a good job. Seems weird writing this, but it did turn a great evening so-so quickly. I remember that more than the rest now.
Our steaks were cooked to perfection, juicy and delicious. The large selection of sides are diverse and offer fresh vegetables and house made potatoes. We love the prefix menu selections and combinations which come with seafood selections and dessert choices.
We had an amazing time celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary! It never disappoints and the fresh sourdough bread is to die for; along with the wild mushroom risotto. He both had filet Oscar that were AH mazing!! Our server was just beyond! The right amount of attention and food came out perfectly not on top of each other! Wouldn't have had a better experience anywhere else. Our favorite place for a steak in St Louis!!
My only complaint is. We made 7:30 reservations and we were seated maybe 5 mins after. However even after ordering our food in a very reasonable time it took over an hour to get our meal. I remember saying to the server, "I've been waiting so long I almost forgot I was hungry!" I was offered a dessert but needless to say I reminded the server that a dessert was included in my order.
I'm in no way blaming the server. He was fantastic. It wasn't particularly crowded so I'm not sure why it took so long
It was a good place to catch up with friends over good food. We went with pre fix three-course meal options. Portions are generous without being excessive. The wait staff was attentive, without being intrusive. It was busy, but we were not rushed. The way seating is organized keeps it quiet enough to have a conversation. We will go again.
