Early afternoon meal, everything was great.
Was amazing and quality of food was out of this world! You get a lot for the price too! You get what you pay for!
This is not the first time that we have dined here--and we always find ourselves coming back for more. The steaks are nothing short of delicious. The sides were awesome. Highly recommend!

This was a thank you dinner. My wonderful cousin drives me to and from Florida so I can be a snow bird. I wanted to give him a special treat and knew he would enjoy your restaurant. The food is always superb and service amazing.

Service was wonderful. Combo steak and scallops were delicious as were pork chop and ribs. One person in our party did not like the mesquite flavor on their steak. Server offered to redo but she decided not to. Did tell us you can request your steak pan fried which we didn't know. So an option if you don't like mesquite. Everything else was wonderful. You get to pick two sides which were great.
Loved the place. Took my best friend for her birthday. If I had to say anything that could of been better, the deserts were less than stellar. The main course was totally without fault. We all got something different; scallops, lamb, beef medallions and New York strip steak. All were extremely tasty.
Awesome time. My lady loved it. Couldnt have asked for a better management. The accommodation i requested were not taken lightly. I really appreciate it.

Felt like our service lacked once she realized we were not going to drink alcohol. Made me very uncomfortable considering we can't drink for personal reasons. I didn't feel like she was as attentive as the guests across from us with bottles of wine. I was a little upset as we were celebrating my birthday and I didn't go away with a good overall feeling
We met friends for lunch because we had read good reviews about the restaurant. Our meals were excellent and the service was outstanding. We plan to return for evening dinner in the future.
My birthday got a wonderful dessert, our server was a little new, but for the most part,tried. The scallops were perfect. Love the white anchovys
This was the second time in as many weeks of poor service from the kitchen. Food delivery has been extremely slow this time and the last time. Several tables arrived after we did (2 of us) and their food was served before ours. We ordered from the special menu purposely so we would not have to wait. It should not take 45+ minutes for a main entree to arrive. The server apologized for the delay, but we knew it was not her fault. Will give this restaurant one more try...
We were there for Easter and the food and service were amazing.
I had the Easter special meal with a 4oz fillet and scallops. Best scallops I've had in St. Louis. Service was excellent, as usual. Great atmosphere.
Everything was wonderful. Brought my family there for Easter lunch and it was perfect.
Date night
Food was excellent as usual. Joey was our waiter and he was fantastic. Never had salmon rillettes before and they were awesome (Appetizer). Steak was done to perfection and cheesy au gratin potatoes were wonderful. A little noisy on this occasion but we were still able to have nice converstion. Will go back again for sure. Turning into one of our favorites. Pricey but worth it !!!

We visited with a party of five to celebrate a birthday. Our server Michael was very friendly, attentive, and made great recommendations. Expansive wine list and drink menu. Food pricing is on the high side, but they offer multiple combination meals that provide good value. All steaks in our party were cooked perfectly and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Only negative would be that they keep the dining room very dark, so much so that we had to use cell phone lighting to read the menu.

So its his BD. Made resv thru OT. Always good! Arrived on time-4:05-only ppl here no prob. I told them it was a BD & they wanted to seat us RIGHT by the kitchen! WHAT??? No one is here? Why? So I ask to sit at a booth 3 booths down was told “no-its reserved by ppl that always res that booth”...whatever.. so we had ROBYN as our server. Very nice, but, told her TWICE when she took our drink order that I wanted a glass of ice. Didn’t bring it after 10 min. The “spec” Ppl behind us arrived & all of her attention went to them. Even the food order & we were still waiting for my
Glass of ice. 25 min later she comes to our table & hubs tells her “she needs ice”. Come on.. she FINALLY brings ice & we order. Food came out in a timely manner (after we ate a half-loaf of bread prior-ha bc we were starving). Steak was cooked perfectly; lobster was amazing & lob mac n chz oh so good! Even after we finished..There was still only 4 tables occupied. So sad bc the food is really good-just that the waitress lacked attention. Needless to say.. her tip suffered but was appropriate for the service we received. Tip: don’t ask for Robyn
Four of us dined here on a Saturday evening. Had to wait a bit, even though we had a reservation. Recommend the chicken tortilla soup, although it is filling vs. a salad. I had the salmon (always good) with brussels sprouts (some were not cooked enough) and lobster mac and cheese (yummy). My husband had the chicken (simple but very good!) and the mushroom risotto (he enjoyed it!). Across the table a NY strip steak (was so-so) and a filet/lobster combo (was very good!). And my friend recommends the coconut cake with pineapple ice cream :) Service was very good as usual...can't really go wrong here.

I celebrated my birthday with family and had a fantastic time. The high touch service was perfect for our group. Our waiter was awesome and the food was great. I will be back.

Excellent as always. Prime beef, perfectly prepared. Best sides in town, especially the creamed corn with bacon and the poblano au gratin potatoes. Top notch service. Looking forward to next time.
I have eaten at J. Gilberts on several occasions and never had a bad meal. That being said, this visit left a little to be desired. Service was exceptional, but food preparation and delivery to the table was extremely long. When the food arrived, it was warm - but not hot - as if it was sitting under a warming lamp for a while. The server apologized profusely and the manager came to the table and apologized for the wait, but we were a table of 2, and there were many other tables of 2 or 4 people that received their food long before we did - even though we arrived and ordered before they did. The server offered dessert "on the house", which we declined (we were so full and didn't want it to go), but the manager was less than accommodating. She just apologized for the wait and appreciated our patience. She did not offer anything other than her apologies. I would have declined her offer, but she should have at least made the offer. All that being said, there were a couple of large tables (10+) being waited on, but I have been there when it was much busier and never had to wait long for food. This was 45+ minutes after we ordered that food was delivered.
This was our first time at J. Gilberts. We went on a recommendation from a friend and we were not disappointed. We asked for a quiet booth and we were seated upon arrival. The server was very friendly and patient and helpful with our ordering. The food was so delicious and the desserts are homemade in house. So yummy. I highly recommend this steak and seafood restaurant. And one more thing... THERE IS VALET PARKING!!!!!
Was there for a friends birthday and there was 8 of us. Our waiter was great! Recommended food drinks and food. I had the fish special which was fantastic. The onlt reason have a 4 star for the atmosphere is the lighting. Need the phone flashlight to read the menu, but seems to be that way everywhere these days. Dedinatly would go back.
Wonderful service and food!
I had the steak and scallops, wife had grilled chicken. Both done well. Had the pretzel crusted onion rings, a great starter. Highly recommend.
The overall experience was as good as always !! Food was amazing !! The crab cakes were out of this world. The stake was tender and cooked to perfection.
The only negative thing about the dinner was that it took some time (10 min ) for the waiter to even say hello and offer us some drinks.

We often go to this restaurant. The service is always very good not to mention the bread they give you at the beginning. The value is right on too. I like the ambience with the fireplace and feel you can either dress up or be more casual here. Overall recommend!
The steak and the salmon entrees were excellent. The service was also very good
