J. Gilbert’s Wood-Fired Steaks & Seafood - West County Center Ratings and Reviews
Our waiter was named Shane. He did a wonderful job as our server. It was my girlfriend's birthday and her first time visiting your restaurant. He made it a nice, relaxing evening. He did not bother us, yet he always knew what we needed (refills, questions, etc.). This restaurant is one of the best for service and taste of food.
Friends & I were getting together after having a few challenging weeks & wanted to catch up, relax, & have a great meal. J Gilberts NEVER disappoints! Food was amazibg as usual & Ethen, our server was gteat! He has assisted us before & remembered us & took excellent care of us!!
Pro’s: Great steaks and sides, especially the Brussels sprouts! Nice wine and drink selection. Bar is fun and comfortable for drinks and apps, restaurant is cozy, decor and ambience is refined but not stuffy. Great service. Prices are not outrageous, you get what you pay for.
Cons: Desserts need some work, had a piece of cheesecake to go and tasted like freezer burn.
J. Gilbert's has a really great menu and something for everyone. Their steaks are exceptionally good and so is their chicken and sea food. I particularly enjoy the combination of 4 oz. filet with
crab legs. They have very good salads and very delicious tortilla soup when I want something lighter. I frequently go to J. Gilbert's for business meals as it is very close to my office and its
an upscale environment.
Great restaurant! Fabulous service and cuisine from start to finish. I only gave 4 stars for overall service out of 5 because the hostess staff is not up to par with what I expected for this restaurant. They ignored me when I first walked in and continued a personal conversation and even turned their backs to me. Out of 4 people at the entrance not one person acknowledged that I was standing there. The remainder of the visit outweighed the start. Sam was our waiter and did a excellent job!
This was one of the few places that I could find that served dinner on New Year's Day. The food was a little pricey, but not excessive. My wife and my two teenage girls had a variety of dishes including salmon, lobster, chicken and steak. The food was excellent. The server, Ethan, was very knowledgeable and attentive. The atmosphere was ideal. We totally enjoyed ourselves. We plan to return.
Went here to celebrate a birthday. Service was great. Food is always fantastic. We really enjoy sitting near the fireplace and feeling all warm and cozy on a cold night. They are consistent in their food preparations which is great because my favorite food items continue to be just as good as I remember them to be. Wonderful meal!
The wait was a bit longer than expected considering we made reservations, but the service made up for it. Mike, our waiter, was great! Able to answer all our questions and accommodate our special requests (I’m picky about my cocktails). The food was fantastic, although not surprising considering the reputation. And the tab reflected that was well. Not the price range for an everyday meal but great for a quiet date night in the midst of all the holiday craziness.
One of the best filets I have ever had. I ordered mine meduim and came out medium rare but still good. My wife's steak was ordered medium and it was medium well. No one ever ask if our steaks we're right. Waiter was nice but not as refined as I would expect in a high dollar restaurant. I thought prices were too higher than an equal quality restaurant.
I really enjoyed everything about my dinner at J Gilbert's. We were the first one there for the start of the dinner hour. we asked to sit by the fireplace, because it was very cold out. It was nice and made for great ambience. The food was really good and so was our server, who always came to see if we needed anything and kept our glasses full. While the meal turned out to be a little expensive, because we got appetizers and a salad as well as the entre, it was worth it. I will be back, we enjoyed the whole experience.
We very much enjoyed our first time visit - the waiter was attentive to our needs throughout the evening. The food was excellent and temperature just right. The crab cakes were so delicious. We were seated at a nice big round table which was excellent for our group and conversations. One of the specials was the 30+oz ribeye, which included 10oz of bone.....we would just order the steak the next time, the bone was overkill for the plate :) The steak & lobster special was excellent, would order that again!! The only negative thing we would say, is that upon paying, we were only given a 3-inch piece of paper with the TOTAL due....no detail of 7 people's order, etc. Three days later we emailed for the detail and received a detailed receipt emailed back.
Always top notch service and fantastic food. We first were seated by a large party that was having a lot of fun - but not what we wanted to be by for our date night. The hostess had no issues at all relocating us to a quieter part of the restaurant. It was perfect as usual.
Great birthday dinner! Sam, our waiter, was awesomely attentive . The food was delicious (husband had the 6 oz. filet,me the cedar planked salmon) and prepared just as we asked. Sam was so kind to bag up our leftovers, including my complimentary birthday dessert. Although J. Gilbert's is a bit pricey for weekly dining out, we enjoy coming here several times a year for special occasions. It's always a great way to celebrate the year end holidays.
We took our 3 teen boys for a birthday celebration and everyone loved their meal. The warm sourdough bread dipped in Maryland crab bisque was a great start. The KC strips were cooked to perfection. My favorite side was the mushroom risotto which complimented the tender seared scallops I ordered. We were too full to enjoy some of the richer desserts like creme brûlée or chocolate velvet cake, but did savor the house made peach sorbet! The room is cozy with a room length glass enclosed fireplace. The only complaint I have would be the noise level. We had a round table of 5 and the restaurant was full so it was difficult to talk at a normal volume.
