Overall the experience and service was fine. Most of the food was good but the scallops were really salty and the mashed potatoes seemed microwaved and barely warm. Part of my order was incorrect and the waiter took the wrong part back which was already awkward but then wouldn’t let me scrape it off with my used fork and wanted to use a clean one. I’m not sure why that would be necessary unless they planned to reuse that piece of food which is pretty nasty. The whole situation was a little awkward for a place that seemed this nice.

I would say I’m not very particular when it comes to dining. But I think I was expecting more than what I received. So take this with a grain of salt that I had unmet expectations from the person that recommended the restaurant. The dinner was an anniversary dinner with my wife, total was $160 with tip, food was fairly on par maybe slightly underwhelming. The biggest complaint was the service, water ran out, wine wasn’t brought for a long time. We were asked to order all food at once. Dinner came out right after apps. Our waiter wasn’t very attentive. Again I hate to complain because maybe he was having a hard day and I get that, it was just a miss overall on that front. The only other thing was at one point they dropped the lights and I could barely see my wife across the table. I guess to some that’s a nice mood, but maybe some candles so I can see the person I’m with.

My colleague and I had a business dinner at the steakhouse last night, and my food was over cooked and over priced. Seabass with risotto. This piece of Seabass was tiny and overcooked, and the risotto was sticky and gluey. I was shocked to see when the bill came and I had to pay $65 for this disaster of a dish.

Waitress (Shea - not sure of spelling) was excellent. Lobster risotto superb. Pork chop was very good once past the somewhat excessive fat on the perimeter.

Last time for this place; Capital Grille, 801, and Fleming’s from now on - Server was good, almost all of the food was great,the problem was the seating I requested ahead of time for a milestone bday dinner I was hosting wasn’t what we got, and then I pointed to where we could sit and be happy and I was told no by hostess. Hostess said we were seated where I asked for in my original request, so I had her pull that request up and it showed that what I asked for well in advance was not what I got. We then told our original server which table we wanted and she went and talked to someone else and only then were we moved to the table that I asked for but had been told no on originally. Why was this so hard? I had Opentable up and ready to book an opening at Capital Grille for 20-30 minutes later I was that beside myself. At no time while we were there was the restaurant not able to accommodate the parties that came in, so I was further confused why the seating process was so inefficient and difficult. We would’ve been gone sooner had we not wasted 5-10 minutes on getting the seating settled correctly.

Steak for me and my daughter was Well done and very dry! We had ordered Med Well. Also, waiter did not check up if food was ok or not. Took a long time to refill our drinks. Was not happy with my experience this time unlike my previous visit.

Great meal and service. They offered vegetarian options as well as sides that were a nice portion and could be a meal in themselves. When making the reservation, I noted we were celebrating a birthday and they had a birthday card ready when we were seated. Classy all around.

We usually love J. Gilberts, but this time our steaks were not cooked correctly and lacked taste. The waitstaff is always indifferent, no matter who we get. Entrees and drinks are pricey, and you have to be careful because they won't ask you what size pour of wine and just automatically serve the larger, more expensive pour. The atmosphere is a little too dark to read the menu, but the fireplace is wonderful!

The food is consistently good. Steaks, Lamb Chops and off the menu special Miso Grouper were prepared perfectly. I love the ambience and atmosphere of the restaurant.

Great Thanksgiving diner. Outstanding services. Little noisy with crying child, but no fault of restaurant. Husband thought the Old Fashion was very good. Kudos to the bartender also.

It was good - and the service always outstanding (thank you,Scott!) but the steak was charted and the crab cake dry...not typical of this place. it was hard to har and our drink order was wrong- but not something you could fix, (noise) and our waiter corrected the drink. So...still one of our fave places... but an unfortunate dinner this trip.

Our server was wonderful, as was 8oz. filet. Crab bisque was served hot, & was outstanding, although there was barely 1 teaspoon of Crab in the bowl. Asparagus side was very woody on the ends. Alcoholic beverages barely had any alcohol. Chocolate fudge cake was amazing!

Excellent dinner this visit. Cocktails were on point and started the evening off very well. Our seafood mixed grill was very good. All varieties were prepared very well. My strip steak was excellent. Great flavor and seasoning was just how I like it. Great service from Jake. He did a very good job taking care of us.

We have been to J Gilberts 6 Times Service always 5 star Ambience 5 Star Wine Cocktails 5 Star Food usually 5 Star my wife had Twin Lobster Tails 5 Star I had Dry Aged Strip with bone 14 ounce $65.00 The steak was tough and overcooked but I ate it I understand with any beef it’s the Luck of the Draw
