J. Gilbert’s – Wood Fired Steaks & Seafood - Overland Park Ratings and Reviews
We arrived at 7:15 pm as per our reservation. My wife ordered a bone in rib eye and was told they were out of rib eyes. She then ordered a beef filet medium and I ordered salmon. Her beef filet arrived almost well done and she refused to send it back. Both my sides of mashed potatoes and green beans were cold and I did send those back. So, i would be very reluctant to come back. Too many things went wrong especially for my wife in a steak restaurant.
Absolutely one of the best meals that I have had in quite some time! The filets were cooked to perfection...and all sides were perfect!! I cant even describe how good the 7 layer coconut cake was....would take two pages for that alone! Our server (Christina) was absolutely passionate about making sure that everything was above expectations. Her friendly attitude and vast knowledge of everything on the menu added yet another star to an experience that was already at the top of the game! KUDOS to her...she is a superstar in customer service!!
We ultimately had a nice booth, but were initially taken to a table in the "secondary" (my term) seating area, which has virtually no ambiance. I was surprised - after making a reservation - to be taken there. Glad I asked for a booth in the other area instead. It was a MUCH nicer experience.
I have been in the restaurant business for over 25 years and have traveled extensively. Our server, Angel, made our dining experience amazing! She might be one of the best ever! Not to mention, the food was delicious and the overall experience was delightful. Can't recommend this restaurant enough!
Had a reservation for my wife's birthday on a Saturday evening. They sat us in a small room off the main dining room that was much brighter than the rest of the restaurant. Even though there were only two of us, they sat us at a table for 6. I told my wife that it felt like we were rejects and placed in a room away from the other customers. Server forgot my drink, steaks were not cooked correctly. Just overall a poor experience. Could have saved sixty bucks and had dinner at Applebees. We certainly wont be in a hurry to go back.
J. Gilberts has been my go to STEAK restaurant for the past 15 to 20 years. Sorry, I really do not remember the first time I went to J. Gilberts, however I have not gone anywhere else for a steak dinner since. They also have other entries, which are equally as good, like scallops. Depending on your budget, J. Gilberts may seem a little pricey, but it a great special occasion destination.
Of course you go to a steak house for a steak and it still acceded my expectations. The food was delicious, steak was perfectly seasoned and prepared. I could have cut my filet with a butter knife. The dessert left me a little wanting. I get the feeling they are pre-prepared and kept in a fridge, but still good.
Absolutely loved this restaurant 10/10 . Despite it being valentines day we showed up 10 minutes before our reservation and were seated immediately. Our waiter ( I cant remember his name) was friendly, funny, and provided us with amazing and prompt service. He was busy and running around like a chicken with his head cut off because of how busy it was but he kept our glasses full and even remembered i had wanted my beer brought with my meal. He brought our food out in a giffy and it was hot and delicious. He paid special attention to us even with how busy he was and truly made it an amazing experience .
We celebrated Valentine's Day there, but we go there regularly. My wife and I are vegetarians and we can always find options on the menu, or we can ask for a pasta dish minus the chicken. Their dirty martinis are great, and the service is always superb. And on Sundays you can get a great bottle of wine at half price.
We had dinner on Valentine's Day. The steaks were excellent but the asparagus was under cooked. I wasn't looking for a coupon to reduce the price, but one popped up on my pc the morning of. It was clearly valid for the day, but the server was adamant that it wasn't valid and refused to take it. I had to speak to a manager to settle this, and yes, the manager agreed the coupon was valid.
We were seated in a room away from the romantic and ambiance areas of the restaurant on Valentine’s Day. I was disappointed to say the least.
Our waiter whose name I can’t remember was a little to talkative for my tastes. Not the best overall experience on this special day.
For our 49th anniversary we could not have found a better place to go. I wish I could remember our servers name. He was superb. He was attentive but not overly so and was truly and genuinely nice. Our dinner was prepared to perfection. The steaks were just excellent and my lump crab cake was so good. Dessert was chocolatey delightful. The evening was just perfect. Thank you all so very much. Barbara and Pete.
Great Steak house! We went for Valentines Day (the day before actually!) This place is very popular & very busy! Always make a reservation! Very good food. My steak was perfectly cooked. Nice variety of food! Warm, cozy atmosphere. Attentive wait staff. We enjoyed our evening out!
