J. Gilbert’s – Wood Fired Steaks & Seafood - Overland Park Ratings and Reviews
We mentioned in the reservation that it was our anniversary and we were greeted with a card thanking us for choosing to celebrate with them and were offered a free dessert or champagne toast (we chose dessert!) I thought that was such a nice touch!
We had a steak and a pasta dish - both were fantastic! Great service, delectable food - would definitely recommend!
We had a very good dining experience. Restaurant Week was in effect, so J. Gilbert's was busy by the time we left. The food was very good and we got good value for the dinner. As it was Restaurant Week, we felt somewhat pushed by our server to finish so they could free up a table. That was the only negative about the evening.
Food and service was exquisite. Everything was delicious. Portions were big and presented beautifully. Lots of choices for everyone. Dessert was wonderful. Everything had a unique and wonderful taste to it. Server was well versed in the menu and very attentive. Can't go wrong with a meal like this.
We dined for KC restaurant week and expected issues. Previous years restaurants have had longer than 2 hour waits with reservation, small portions, and menu being out of items.
Not with J.Gilberts!!! They were professional and on top of it all as any other night!
My favorite romantic date night spot! Always recommend!!!
Our experience was spot-on. Our server Stephanie was fantastic. We were immediately attended to, and kept track of all evening. The food was spectacular, I had to ask Stephanie to be sure to tell the kitchen they nailed it. I was so excited about my leftovers, to be able to share them with my parents was another high note. The lamb was fabulous!
Restaurant week outing with friends. Food (as always) was OUTSTANDING! We LOVE this place. Wait staff was not the typical 'on the spot' service though. Also, first time I've ever had my wine poured to be left with cork bits - just unfortunate as we were introducing friends to this - our favorite restaurant. Manager did stop by to apologize and make it right. Would we go back??- without a doubt, just hoping the service level is back to what we've always encountered before.
My husband and I's first time at J Gilberts. Had heard good things about food and service and was keeping an open mind since it was restaurant week and knew things would be pretty hectic and busy during our first experience. We were both very pleased with our entire visit. Limited wait with reservation, excellent food and great service. We've found a new place for a great meal. We'll be back!
Pig & Finch is one of our favorite restaurants in the area near the Sprint Campus. Every menu selection is delicious and presented well. The wait staff are excellent and the prices are reasonable. Check out Pig & Finch and I am sure you will add it to your "favorites" list.
I had scallops with lobster risotto. They were rich, yet perfectly cooked. The crab bisque was also decadent, creamy and perfect. My husband had the rack of lamb and it couldn’t have been done better. However, accompanying that with a heavy mushroom risotto and oversalted garlicky spinach was a poor choice. Those sides could have been replaced with something more tart and complementary to the rich lamb.
Great food and service. They specialize in steaks, but also have a fantastic selection of seafood. their wines and cocktails are superior. Creative appetizers including 2 sizes of a seafood tower. Their salads and side dishes are tasty and plentiful.
Heard about this restaurant from a family member. We made reservations ahead of time. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were taken right to our table which was already ready and there was a special card on it that said “Happy Anniversary!” Our waitress, Rita, was so awesome. She was fun and really laid back but still professional. The food was absolutely amazing! Our filet mignon and king salmon was cooked perfectly. We would definitely recommend the au gratin potatoes as a side! The chocolate cake with raspberry ice cream and the coconut cake was fantastic! The atmosphere was perfect for our special occasion. We got $15.00 off for signing up for special offers with our email address. We even got our desserts for free for our anniversary! We would definitely recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or a nice date night.
My (Ribeye) steak was excellent. Very tender and juicy. But the cheesy corn, while it tasted good, was not as cheesy as I would have liked. It was a bit too runny. The lobster mac and cheese was very good. The crab soup was OK, but if I had it to do over I would have probably ordered the chicken tortilla soup instead.
Excellent dining out. Had not been to J's for years and now wondering why not? Our table of 4 enjoyed very well-prepared apps and mains. My wife's pasta was unique and tasted superb. My ribeye was as good as any steak I've had across KC's many steakhouses. Pleasant and attentive service. Only wish we could have parked closer to the entrance.....brrrrrr.
This restaurant is the real deal! We have been several times and have excellent service each time!! The servers are very knowledgeable and have great suggestions. The food is TOP NOTCH!! Simply delicious!! I love going to J. Gilberts and seriously look forward to the next opportunity to go.
Love this place! Great food, service, and wine selections....what else would you want? We loved having the same waitress as we did a previous time. Great entree for when you are in the mood for not having meat or fish. We recommend this restaurant to everyone that wants a great meal experience! Hubby had their salmon special and I had their veggie special.
