J. Gilbert’s – Wood Fired Steaks & Seafood - Overland Park Ratings and Reviews
Absolutely sensational food! The ambience and service were exceptional. We went there for our 30th Anniversary and were told "Happy Anniversary" by everyone from the greeter to the server to the manager. They also offered as a complimentary beverage or dessert because it was our anniversary. The steak was probably the best I've ever tasted and the sides were exceptional too!
Had a wonderful meal at J Gilberts on Sunday. We had not been there in years, and we will not let that much time go by again. Excellent food, exceptional service. Steaks cooked to perfection. We enjoyed half priced wine bottles (Sunday). The food is absolutely on par with pricier steakhouses like Sullivan's, 801 Chophouse, Capital Grill, but at a lower cost. Great ambiance, too.
We’ve gone to J Gilbert’s a lot and this time I️ was totally disappointed. First of all we were sat and already ordered wine, had water and drank from I️t and then the guy who sat us said we need to move one table over - my husband say why the table is identical - the guy said I️ sat you at the wrong table. Two of us ordered salmon I️t was dry and crunchy - in fact I️ thought I️ had a piece full of bones - we asked the waitress to have a new piece - she brought I️t but everyone at the table was completely finished eating - we were not offered a discount or was our meal comped - totally not like our normal experience here
Almost everything was wonderful, as always. We got there a little early (5 pm) and had a drink at the bar. The bartender was so unfriendly it made us uncomfortable. We couldn't wait to be seated at our table, where we felt more than welcome. So the 4 stars on the rating scale above were a reflection of our experience with him only (if it had been a review of the bar experience only, I would have rated it with -5 stars). Otherwise, everything would have been rated 5 stars.
My wife and I returned to J. Gilberts after being away for quite a time--and we were very pleased in all respects. As expected, our steaks were outstanding--I really liked my filet. The salads and sides were excellent--I had asparagus and green beans. Glad they have Stella on draft. My wife enjoyed her red wine. So we will be back and wonder why its taken us so long to dine there.
Hostess and server were prompt, friendly and accomodating - especially Kathy our server as she was fun yet professional. Bartender was a little stiff but service was prompt. Overall a great place and great food - filets were tender, juicy and reasonably priced. We'll be back.
J. Gilbert's is consistently good. Every time I visit, my service, food and beverages are enjoyable. A great wine list, but also a fine list of cocktails. The quality ingredients used in the food preparation will produce a dining experience you will remember for days. The service is attentive, but not overbearing. Thank you for being an oasis in the restaurant world!
