J. Gilbert’s – Wood Fired Steaks & Seafood - Overland Park Ratings and Reviews
We mentioned in the reservation that it was our anniversary and we were greeted with a card thanking us for choosing to celebrate with them and were offered a free dessert or champagne toast (we chose dessert!) I thought that was such a nice touch!
We had a steak and a pasta dish - both were fantastic! Great service, delectable food - would definitely recommend!
Pig & Finch is one of our favorite restaurants in the area near the Sprint Campus. Every menu selection is delicious and presented well. The wait staff are excellent and the prices are reasonable. Check out Pig & Finch and I am sure you will add it to your "favorites" list.
Great food and service. They specialize in steaks, but also have a fantastic selection of seafood. their wines and cocktails are superior. Creative appetizers including 2 sizes of a seafood tower. Their salads and side dishes are tasty and plentiful.
Heard about this restaurant from a family member. We made reservations ahead of time. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were taken right to our table which was already ready and there was a special card on it that said “Happy Anniversary!” Our waitress, Rita, was so awesome. She was fun and really laid back but still professional. The food was absolutely amazing! Our filet mignon and king salmon was cooked perfectly. We would definitely recommend the au gratin potatoes as a side! The chocolate cake with raspberry ice cream and the coconut cake was fantastic! The atmosphere was perfect for our special occasion. We got $15.00 off for signing up for special offers with our email address. We even got our desserts for free for our anniversary! We would definitely recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or a nice date night.
My (Ribeye) steak was excellent. Very tender and juicy. But the cheesy corn, while it tasted good, was not as cheesy as I would have liked. It was a bit too runny. The lobster mac and cheese was very good. The crab soup was OK, but if I had it to do over I would have probably ordered the chicken tortilla soup instead.
This restaurant is the real deal! We have been several times and have excellent service each time!! The servers are very knowledgeable and have great suggestions. The food is TOP NOTCH!! Simply delicious!! I love going to J. Gilberts and seriously look forward to the next opportunity to go.
Love this place! Great food, service, and wine selections....what else would you want? We loved having the same waitress as we did a previous time. Great entree for when you are in the mood for not having meat or fish. We recommend this restaurant to everyone that wants a great meal experience! Hubby had their salmon special and I had their veggie special.
Service was poor. The server acted like he was in a hurry and we were an imposition. His name was BRYAN J.
This is the second time we’ve had poor service or lack of service, at this restaurant and staff acts like they are doing you a favor, instead of making your evening enjoyable. Must be the management.
The food - lamb chops were flavorless. Seasoning whatsoever. Meat was bland. Cooked medium rare, as ordered, but I’ve had much better every place else.
Overall this isn’t a good value -‘prices far exceed the food quality and service is poor for the price. There are too many other places in town - same or lower prices that over far better service and food. Sad. Don’t intend to go back. Beware.
This was a birthday and anniversary celebration. Christine, our server was very attentive and brought us complimentary champagne toasts as well as a birthday dessert. We had a nice, quiet booth and the food, as usual, was excellent. We have almost always celebrated our birthday/anniversary dinner at J Gilbert's because the food and service are dependable and excellent. We always feel that we made the correct choice and are never disappointed.
We have been going to J. Gilbert’s for 14 years and loved it, this time however was a disappointment. The food was subpar, the restaurant was cold and the service was just ok. I was so disappointed because for all of these years, I look forward to our night out. Hopefully we just came on an off night and next time our food is actually warm, steaks are cooked correctly and the restaurant it self is more comfortable.
I've been here several times and it's always great food with great service! Recently I went for my birthday date with my hubby and felt very spoiled and special. They sat us by the fireplace and I received a complimentary decadent dessert! The ambiance is always cozy and perfect for date nights. I will keep coming back for years to come!
Food remains very good to excellent. Service has slipped a bit over the years. The wine list is way overpriced and not very interesting. However, it is appreciated that you can bring your own wine for a $20 corkage fee. Atmosphere is stylish, dark & cozy. Still one of Johnson County's best places for high end meat & seafood.
