   Food was absolutely fantastic!! It was my best friends’ and I first time dining here and it was a great experience! Our server Mei Li was spot on and made sure I enjoyed my dinner. (I had ordered the filet medium but it definitely came out well done. It was unfortunate BUT Mei Li MADE SURE that I enjoyed my steak so they had my filet remade with brand new sides as well! That was very nice of them to do that. Me and my friend loved our wine and everything tasted delicious! Will definitely be coming back and telling my other friends!

   Went to JGilbert’s for our anniversary dinner. Had a very good experience. Everyone from hostess to server wished us a happy anniversary. The server was very good. Attentive without pestering, knowledgeable on the menu, very professional. One of the best tasting steaks I have ever eaten. Dress code says businesses casual but some decent jeans and button up was the norm for most the men. Would definitely go back for a special occasion. Too pricey for an average night out for my budget. Definitely recommend.

   Poblano potato’s - cheaped out, dry, no creaminess, no cheese, just layered potato’s. Filet, overcooked, flavorless. Service, very good. Scallops excellent, perfectly cooked.

   My wife and I are in the bar area on a Thursday night. We had a wonderful server who did a great job. We brought our own wine and he was very delicate with opening and straining it for us which we really appreciated. We always have great food here and appreciate the corking fee so we can have a great dinner paired with some wines that mean a lot to us from our travels. Great job and thank you for a memorable evening out for my wife and I.

    We were there for my husband’s birthday. The front receptionist was rude as well as our waitress. She got upset when I asked for lemons for our water. She also told us that we needed to wait when we asked if she could please take our picture. I also brought a cake for my husband as a surprise at the end of our meal. The waitress told us we shouldn’t order any dessert since we will be eating the cake I brought earlier ruining the whole surprise. She also would question what we were ordering mentioning the prices as if we couldn’t afford what we were ordering. She was rushed and rude and food was just alright.

    An outstanding dining experience for the celebration of our anniversary! Angel took excellent care of us for the duration of our meal. My filet was just fantastic, perfectly cooked, and with the blue cheese butter - I took my time with every bite because it was so delicious. Just a wonderful experience.

    We and our two friends all ordered from the KC Restaurant Week menu. Our food was delicious and we appreciated the value! Jona, our server, was extremely courteous, friendly and attentive. We also like very much the 50% discount on bottles of wine on Sundays. We will be back!

    We went for Restaurant Week to J. Gilbert’s for the first time. We’ve been missing out! Besides the food being top notch, we had the best waiter that I’ve encountered in probably the last few years. Thank you to Mr. Saint John for such impeccable service, and especially for your interaction with our 8 year old daughter…very sweet. Will definitely be going back for the scallops, steak, and crème brûlée, and asking for Saint John by name!

    The only issue I had with the Dinner they would not let me substitute asparagus for green beans a side of green beans was $7 I guess That's their way to upsell

    The food was a little expensive ($150 for 2), but well worth it! Crab cery rich and tasty. Filet was nearly fork tender. The crab cake was nearly all crab. The scallops and lobster risotto were excellent! The creme brulee about the best ever! Service was attentive without being intrusuve. Will return.

    Best Restaurant Week menu in town! Everything was delicious. Our server, Michael did an excellent job . The hostesses at the check in desk could use some training in hospitality toward diners. Greeted with no smiles and a table by the kitchen even though better tables were open. We asked to be seated at a booth and they did move us.

    The food was excellent. We had the lobster bisque and the sea scallops. Only problem for the people in the booth next to us. They were excessively loud. Everything else was so right on time. Thank you.

    We have dined twice at J. Gilbert’s the past 2 weeks. It has been a great experience all around. The food was excellent and the service first rate. The Hamburger is really a highlight and the scallops were excellent as well.

    Great service. Restaurant week meal had by all 4. Salads were all good and nice portion. Crab cakes very meaty and flavorful. Boys both ordered steaks medium and came out completely different (one was definitely medium rare). Mashed potatoes tasted good but could have been made to be more presentable. Enjoyed all the desserts.

    Great food. Good service. Might have been an off night with possibly being understaffed and orders taking a little longer than usual and being out of some items on the menu (first weekend of restaurant week). We love the food and will be back.

    I've always loved my experiences at J Gilbert's. Last night, it was still good, but not the level it's always been. It was Restaurant Week and they were busy, so I'm not holding it against them. Just wish my sides and crab cake were warm when served. As for service, she had a great attitude and was pretty efficient. Forgot a side of sauce and failed to clear dirty dishes twice after checking on the table. Still, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone. (Get the crab cake. Still the best one in town!)

    We were sat in a overflow room when there was seating in the restaurant. Felt like we were in a shed built onto the back of the restaurant. Are waitress was not in the room we were sat in that often which in turn made for very slow service. The steak was mediocre at best my wife’s crab cake looked more like a little cheddar bay biscuit and wasn’t that good. The twin lobster tails I had with my steak were over seasoned with steak seasoning. For what they charge I expected a much better experience I will not be returning.
