All good except front desk. My guest was never connected to me/my table. Front has always been the one downfall of this place. Experienced staff are great up front. New employees need more training on how to take care of customers the entire time they are in the restaurant.
One of the only times that J. Gilbert's service was a disappointment. More than one order was incorrect (6 oz filet vs a 4 oz). On the special of the evening, there was significant confusion between the kitchen staff and our waiter. When I brought these issues to the attention of our waiter, he apologized for the confusion but took no additional action and did not involve the manager at all. I am not sure if we will return for our next family event.
The wife and I always enjoy dining at Gilbert’s. Great food and great service.
I have been to this restaurant many times--with my former law partners, a professor I used to teach with, and family. NEVER been disappointed! Service is first-rate. Food is delicious. Drinks are generous. Seats are comfortable and well spaced. Who could ask for more?
The $48 Rib Eye was too fatty (completely appreciating the fact that it is a fatty cut of meat), we enjoyed our family dinner.
The food was good as usual. No complaints
I found this restaurant by doing a steakhouse search. Great find! The appetizer, entrees and dessert were all fantastic. I love being able to enjoy a meal, and have a nice conversation with my table while not having to lean in to hear or have to hear other tables conversation. Will definitely return.
Was everything its prior reviews stated and more. Delicious - everything perfectly done - even the scrambled eggs were delicious - just a ton of variety - waffles were GREAT - wish they would have had the dounts!
Brunch at J. Gilbert's never disappoints. Great memories and food every time!
Excellent food and outstanding service by our server, Hugo
The ambiance was phenomenal, the food was exceptional and the best part was the service. I’ll definitely be back!!
Always great! We are frequent patrons and love it's reliability for food, service and value. The food is always prepared well, the selection is good - although the menu doesn't change and there are really no specials the meals are consistent and there are no surprises which is nice. The restaurant has great ambience and the service is attentive and professional. For the McLean/Tysons area, it is one of the best values and I don't have any complaints. Well, sometimes it is hard to read the menu because it is dark in the restaurant and bar. But other than that, all good!
We had a lovely Easter dinner at J. Gilbert's. The food was amazing. The staff was wonderful. Ambience cozy and relaxing. We will be back!!
Kira and Igor were outstanding serving us. It was Easter Sunday and the restaurant was very busy and both of them attended to us. They are very friendly and always smiling. It was a pleasure being served by them.
Food is reliably good here but our friends' lamb chops were disappointingly tough. The petit filets ( and they WERE petite!) were perfectly cooked and flavorful. It was Easter dinner, and we were crammed into a back room which was loud , but we understood the challenges of lots of people. That said, the servers and other people could barely get past our table and there was constant jostling.
Holidays at this restaurant accommodate many people successfully enough, but I think it does a much better job on regular days and weekends.
I have dined at jGilberts for several years. This past visit will end my dining at j Gilbert’s. The service provided was with arrogance as well as testy. In addition the entrees “tossed at
the table were not well prepared. j Gilbert’s needs a remake in service & food. Bad experience for me & my guests !!!!!
Went for Easter brunch. it was crowded but the food never ran out and it was excellent. Every single thing I ate was wonderful. I highly recommend the seared tuna and the chocolate fountain!
Always a great place to dine! J Gilberts' Sunday brunch is awesome.
Very disappointed. We wanted a steak not brunch. The website stated u could order from menu. Not trus
Excellent service and brunch buffet and waffles!!! The food was especially delicious and the service was great, as usual! Our favorite brunch spot! Our booth was a little tight for our party of 6 but it was ok. (The booth cushions seem to be pretty worn out and uneven in several booths that we’ve sat in over the course of dining there for the past few years, but we still love the restaurant. Hopefully they will upgrade the booth seats sometime soon). Overall the food is excellent as is the service. :)
We had a wonderful family brunch on Easter Sunday - enjoyed by all.
Poor service. We won’t be going back.
Food was incredible as well as the service. Cannot wait until the next opportunity to dine at j.gilberts!
Had an awful experience, spoke to manager and left there disappointed. We won’t be going back.
Luncheon menu was great for a group of 4 ladies and As always, good food and excellent service!
Very expensive, which is fine, so long as you are getting the best cuts and portions and service, commensurate with such cost.
Food was good, but not great, for $50+ entrees.
Service was great. Steak and crab cake were awesome.
We had a very nice dinner at a reasonable price for the area. The atmosphere is casual elegance. The dress code seems to be relaxed. Booths are spacious and food is perfect. I had the top sirloin with two sides that you can choose. Onion rings as an appetizer were excellent. Nice selection of wines, most from California. Service was good without being too smothering.
The food and service was great. They do need to have the bench seats near the fireplace re-upholstered. They are taped in areas and though the food is good it makes the dining area look dated and not well kept.
I've loved dining at J. Gilberts for many years, ever since some good friends introduced me to this restaurant. The food is always delicious, the service is always excellent and there is no problem with parking. This time, I went with my daughter-in-law and 3 grandchildren. Everyone loved their meal although, in the spirit of full disclosure, my 3 year old granddaughter fell asleep and had to finish her meal at home. It was also nice to be able to use my $25 birthday gift from J. Gilberts for partial payment. I'm looking forward to enjoying many more great meals and happy occasions there.
NICE. Always GOOD FOOD AND GOOD SERVICE. VERY RELIABLE.
The service is always top notch. All the servers are just wonderful, professional and genuine.
Some of the dishes are relatively a good price, others are fairly outrageous. So just be sure to spend a lot.
We love this steak house. Service is always wonderful, the food is great.
Returned to their Sunday brunch but, left with huge regret.
The usual cold and hot dishes were there but Prime Rib Roast was replaced by brisket.
Small end pieces were carved out to be served and it truly looked like left over brisket ends that were left over during the week. Really, really not up to par for the quality that's expected.
Took my cousin's family there because we always had good brunch there but, none of us will probably return because 4 out of 6 of us got stomach aches after the meal.
So ~ wrong.
The food was great however our waitress was not. She was not attentive and spoke so softly it was hard to hear her say the specials. We had to ask for water a few times and steak knife. She didn’t seem too excited about her job and at time put out with us. Will be back to eat there but hopefully we have someone else waiting on us.
We've been coming to J Gilbert's for years. The food never disappoints.
If there are any issues at all, management goes above and beyond to fix it. Always good quality food and service!
Fabulous food. Good service. Will return
