J. Gilbert’s – Wood Fired Steaks & Seafood - McLean
Everything was great. Food, service and ambience were all we could ask for. One of our favorite places to dine.
My service was bad.
My fiancé and I love coming to J. Gilbert’s. The food is always good, the service is excellent, and we always have a great time. It’s one of our go-to restaurants for a date night.
Food was very good! Server was very nice! Maybe play a slow song next time, but other than that, everything was 5 star.
Service and ambiance were great. Food was just ok. Our appetizer was good, but the steak was just ok (We are from Chicago, so we are picky about our meat.) I ordered medium rare and it came out medium and the meat quality was not as good as we expected. Overall it was not terrible, but not worth the price.
Great experience. Will be back.
Food was excellent - I had the filet and scallop combo. Loved the brussel sprouts. The service was friendly, efficient and attentive. The desserts were out of this world - I had the carrot cake and the wife had the coconut cake, both highly recommended.
The only issue, the baked potato had a black spot.
Food was good overall. Spinach had too much onion but other than that, everything was good. Service is excellent and very accommodating. The crowd and atmosphere is welcoming and diverse
Would definitely come again.
Wonderful restaurant with great service and food. We look forward to going back.
Food (Tomahawk Steaks) and service were excellent. Igor, our waiter was outstanding. Will definitely return.
It was Valentine's Day and the restaurant was very busy even at the early time we were able to make a reservation (4pm). We are regular customers there and always enjoy ourselves. This night the food wasn't quite up to what we expected and we had to send our initial order back because it wasn't prepared as ordered. This resulted in my having to send my food back as well as i didn't want to eat while my wife was waiting for her steak to be properly prepared. When the food came back her steak was done properly while my ribs which may have been kept under a heat lamp were quite dried out and not at all as good as usual.
We'll be back expecting better.
Unfortunately, we were seated in same room as large party and it was extremely loud and we could not hardly hear our own conversation. They really need to keep large parties in separate space, so that other diners can enjoy their meals. Food was very good and service was excellent.
Always enjoy the opportunity to dine at J. Gilberts. Delicious food and great company.
There was a mix up with the sides to the entrees, but it was corrected.
This is a very nice place. Steaks are really good, atmosphere is nice. Been there twice, first time waitress was awesome, second time very average at best. Pass on the desserts though, had both the cheesecake and the chocolate mouse/cake and both were below average. If you go Monday-Thursday there's a cheaper option to get a salad/soup, entree and sides, and dessert for a fixed price. Limited options but good for those who only want to spend a lot, not a ton, on dinner.
This was a nice lunch, we sat by the fireplace and my widower friends felt comforted by the ambiance and enjoyed their food immensely.
Always great food & great service. Neighborhood favorite restaurant. We love the filet, crabcakes and salmon.
Great selection of brunch buffett except for the dessert table. It would be nice to have more choices and better dessert table.
It was a wonderful brunch - great selection - the food was good. Very nice ambience - and excellent service.
The drinks could be better. Use the big ice cubes for all Manhattans and old fashions. And dont water them down so much.
Great atmosphere and food. Loved the chocolate mousse cake. Will definitely go back!
Outstanding food, great value, and if you are looking for a special place to go for a celebration, this is truly the place to go. They treat you special.
This place is very expensive and the food was not very good. We had to send back the steaks (and we do not send things back) -- one was overcooked, the other was a much cheaper cut of meat than we ordered (which cost nearly $50 -- it was a special occasion). The rest of the food was fine but nothing special. On the positive side the service was attentive (both dinners were replaced) and the atmosphere was lovely. Was completely expecting to love this place and am so surprised it was not good, especially for the price.
Great meal with friends. The steaks were excellent , and we enjoyed excellent service. I was happy to use the on line reservation system because the restaurant was totally full upon our arrival
Food was excellent. Our waiter Dogan was very attentive. We will definitely go again.
Food as always was excellent, surpassed only by the outstanding service by our waiter- Hugo
Excellent customer service. Our waiter was very professional and courteous.
Wonderful celebration!Everyone we experienced was professional a d courteous. Fantastic service
The food made this choice worth it, the portions were a good size and everything came out yummy. The service overall, except hostesses, was a little weird. Better service and a Happy Birthday to the Birthday girl would have been nice and made this a lot better experience.
My friend and I both enjoyed our salads. My friend ordered the Cesear salad with grilled salmon. She said it was the best cooked salmon she ever had—not undercooked and not overcooked—just perfect. My lobster Cobb salad was delicious and nutritious. Our server was excellent. She refilled our drink glasses but did not hover. We were not rushed out when we finished our meal. We had a wonderful lunch. We both highly recommend it.
Both the food and the service were excellent. The server Joan was particularly good.
I got there at 1:30 and paid full price but some foods weren't available at that time.
J. Gilbert's weekend brunch is a fantastic way to start your day! The food is abundant, fresh and tasty.
Our server, Hugo, was very attentive and greeted us with a warm smile.
We will be back!
Disappointing meal on a Saturday night. About 30 mins after we ordered the manager appeared to tell us they were out of the entree we ordered. The steaks we finally got were of supermarket, not steakhouse quality. Our waiter also brought the wrong salad though he did bring the right one eventually. The restaurant charged us for both. The one we did and the one we did not.order. $200 for one app, a salad, 2 steaks and 2 small glasses of wine. Definitely wont be back.
Wonderful food as usual!
I've dined at JG's many times (BLT and JG are my favorite steakhouses). The food is consistently great and the servers are consistently attentive, friendly, and courteous. I love this place!
This place is one of our go to favorites! We have never had a bad meal. Almost always excellent food, service, etc. And so quiet!
We were seated next to a very large party so it was very difficult to have a conversation. In hindsight we should have asked to be moved as when we were leaving we noticed how quite the main dining area was. We will be back as we have been here many times and we really enjoy the food and the wait staff.
I love this place, but where do they hire the wait staff? Waitress had a bad attitude from the start and it wasn't until she dropped a small dish of butter than exploded (not her fault) everywhere ....including my pants, shirt, hair, everywhere and I told her not to worry, that she finally loosened up. If they would hire good wait staff this place would be 4 stars across the board.
