J. Gilbert’s – Wood Fired Steaks & Seafood - McLean
We were quickly seated upon arrival. Nice booth for two. Maria greeted us warmly, presented the specials, and noted our drink choice. Great to have such a good spot to have so close to home.
Upscale steak house in McLean. Servers are attentive and helpful. Menu has very good prix fixe options, which works for those who three moderate size courses.
Another great dinner at J.Gilberts here in McLean.
Service was great, had a late lunch with a friend and we decided to eat in the bar area. We took the waiter's recommendation on a special of the day, a salmon dish and it was fabulous!!! It was a little dark in the bar area but other than that everything was great!
Our waiter was great and friendly, a fun and delicious time!
It's a basic steak house. Very much better than a Ruth's Chris but also still a mainline restaurant. Great service though. Really.
We always have an enjoyable experience at J. Gilbert's. The food, the ambiance and the staff are always on point. Look forward to our next trip back!
Excellent service - excellent food. Will come back!
Outstanding restaurant. Great food. Super good service. Everything was wonderful.
Food was delicious great selection of fresh food on the buffet. Service was not great at the start but think it was due to extreme business levels it got better as time went on.
Nice brunch but it’s a bit overpriced for what you get
Our waiter, Hugo, was excellent! He was very attentive and was able to answer our questions about menu options. The food was delicious and the service was top notch! Thank you!
My third experience dinning at J. Gilbert.
The food, atmosphere, and our waiter were TOP NOTCH! As usual.
The gentleman that seated us was very professional.
Can't wait to return.....#GREATSTEAK!
Very good experience - will come back very soon
It should be possible to split the check per individual/pair according to what you had to eat and drink.
Service was meh. Server seemed to busy to be bothered with us. Also used sarcasm unnecessarily. Just didn’t seem very welcoming.
Food was very bland. It’s better other times I’ve visited.
Bathrooms were dirty. Toilet paper in every toilet, locks on doors did not work, toilet paper rolls were laying up against the walls. We Just expected a bathroom of a restaurant like this to be better maintained.
delicious food and perfect service. would definately go again.
As usual excellent lunch & ambiance! Thank you.
The food and service were excellent and met all of our expectations
Three folk had stake. Well prepared and nicely served I had the grilled seafood plate. Plentiful and tasty. Shrimp were a little under cooked.
Igor is an awesome waiter. Food was very good. It was a special anniversary.
I've always had a great time at J. Gilbert's, and look forward to having brunch there each time I return to the DC area.
Great food and service. Did not feel rushed and enjoyed our lunch!
Very nice as usual.
My birthday. Dined with a discount coupon.
The standard pork dish as usual was done perfectly.
The waitresses and waiters are all very, very helpful and polite
We were there for a special occasion and the staff was very attentive.
Service was excellent! We enjoyed the meal (seafood grill and salmon) very much — Thank you!
J. Gilbert's never disappoints. I can always expect an excellent eating experience!
The service and the food could not be better. This restaurant has it together. Food quality is excellent and ambiance is great. The waitress is the same gal who served us on our first visit. She is excellent and has a great personality. Love this place!!!!
Service is not bad. For paying near-downtown DC prices, the steak should have been better. The $29 sirloin was better than the gristly $45 KC -- I could have gotten the same or more edible steak for $16 less. The "smoked" old fashioned I was told didn't work right at the bar so we got another Manhattan instead. The Manhattan was good, but the old fashioned we never got was on the bill. Had to get that corrected.
The seafood platter was cooked medium rare as I requested. However, it would be nice to have other types of bread besides sourdough which several of us do not like. All things being equal, I'd choose a restaurant with better bread; it can't be all that difficult!
Well priced for a Tomahawk, but certainly not the best nor largest. Also, whats with the 4 carrots to share!!
Enjoyed the entire J. Gilbert’s experience, but felt the cost seems to be rising. People enjoy this type of dining when the food is more affordable. Although I plan on visiting again, it will be periodically only because of the cost.
The Sunday brunch is delicious, though it is expensive. Kids do not eat their money’s worth. Having said that, it’s a great place to go for a special occasion. Lunch and dinner without the kids is also fun.
Great spot for brunch on Sundays. We have been back many times. Hugo was a great server. Third time we have had him serve us. Keep up the great job.
Horrible. It was so dark you can’t see. The food was mediocre at best and our waitstaff was uninspired. We felt rushed and to boot our martinis were horrible.
We always enjoy J Gilbert's for wholesome food in a relaxing atmosphere. We had the soft shell crab specials, one sauteed, one tempura. Both were excellent. Our server provided excellent service.
A good first experience at this restaurant. A bit pricy though not bad, and somewhat noisy due to the size of the restaurant. That said the food was very good and I’ll definitely try them again in the near future.
it was great, my girlfriend loved it. we went for her birthday :), we will be going again
