It was quite noisy on this particular night, but the food was outstanding as usual.
this was the worst experience i have ever had at a restaurant. we were seated 30 minutes after our reservation which was supposed to be in the lounge but we were put in the dining room. i had never been there and everyone always raves how great this place was so we decided to celebrate a birthday. there were four of us and we were seated with evan...i ordered a ketel one dirty martini light on the dirty and stressed that initially...the drink came and although it had way too much olive juice i decided to try to drink it. i took three sips and couldn’t do it so i asked for a new one...he came back to the table with s martini glass full of vodka and a side glass of olive juice and told me to do it myself...i mean that was shocking...never..not even at a fridays have i experienced that...i never drank the drink..it sat on the edge of the table the whole night and he didn’t even bother taking it off my 300 bill!!! the food was disgusting...the scallops were over cooked, the spinach was under cooked and the potatoes were so runny they were all over the plate...i didn’t like the steak but there is nothing i could do about that because i did t realize it was wood fired...the man i was with ordered the special which was supposed to come with potatoesbut came with wild mushroom risotto...he does t eat mushrooms but it was never rectified...of the 4 of us only one person ate their meal....evan knew this cause when he came to clear the plates he asked if we wanted boxes and we all said no and he did t ask anything g further...when it came time for the birthday dessert, which he knew at the beginning and made a point to ask who’s birthday so he knew who to give the dessert to. he didn’t deliver it...someone from the kitchen just dropped it on the table and left...from start to finish this was an awful experience and i work in the restaurant industry and have seen worse restaurants give such better service and food...300 wasted...definitely a terrible experience.
Its was our first time there. When I made the reservation, I had stated it was our Anniversary. They had our table ready and set with heart confetti. Every server wished us a Happy Anniversary. The food was amazing. The waiter was so helpful with recommendations. Cant wait to go back.
We had an excellent time and the meal was outstanding. Derek our waiter was very professional and new everything and we were very impressed. See you all soon.

Very polite and cheery greeting staff. Our server was not only very knowledgable but friendly and everyone who stipped at our table greeted us with a "Happy Anniversary and how can we make your special day even better?" Defintely would recommend J. Gilberts to everyone looking for a good time with great staff.

J Gilberts is one of my favorite places. I was a little disappointed on this visit. Their crab cakes have always been jumbo crab with very little filler just as you can get in places like Rehoboth. However, this visit it was downgraded and had much more filler and not jumbo crab pieces like normal -- big mistake. I also pay extra for the mac and cheese with lobster. Normally, there are a number of large pieces of lobster mixed in. They definitely skimped on this visit -- small shreds. It was a Wednesday so not a particularly busy night and the wait for our meal seemed excessively long. It will be some time before I return.
Food was great as always and is the reason we keep coming back. Unfortunately we didn’t care much for the waiter. He knew his job and was well informed but was a little bit slower then other waiters we have had in the past. When it came time to order dessert he took my sons order then my wife’s order then walked away, I had to call him back so I could order.. I think he was confused that we wanted to take our dessert home but eat the ice cream portion of our desserts there ?? We have been going there for special dinners for years and this is the second negative experience we have had but the food is always consistently delicious and why we keep coming back!!... wife just informed me her chicken was a little undercooked this trip..but my son and I had a great meal..
Best swordfish dish ever. Onion rings had a great pyramid presentation, but should have been much hotter upon serving.

We had a fabulous server who shared with us the specials and suggested menu items that were delicious. He made us feel as though we were the only ones in the restaurant; a fantastic dinner experience!
Yes, J. Gilbert is a bit pricey, but it is definitely worth it. Quality of food and service is exceptional; a wonderful venue for special occasion dinners.

1st time ever at J Gilbert's in Glastonbury where our waiter was quite slow and I observed that he was responsible for too many tables. Not sure if the restaurant was short-handed regarding their waitstaff?
Great birthday dinner, great food, great service!
Food was not cooked to order. They brought it back to kitchen, but it came back not good. They took it off my bill and offered dessert (was there on my anniversary), but would have preferred a good meal. The server was far too busy and forgot a few things. Was hoping for a great meal, but was disappointed and the overall cost to value just isn’t there.
My parents celebrated their 30th anniversary here. They loved their meal and said the staff was awesome. We will definitely all be back to J. Gilbert’s!

First off my wife Carey & I are long time JGilbert customers and tell everyone we know that JG's have the best steak in the CT!
Last night we both felt was subpar - her filet came out looking pretty beat up - more like hamburger than filet mignon. My KC Strip was just ok but I've honestly had one that equaled it at Outbavk for 1/2the price. One of my sides was cold - our waiter looked at her steak and ageeed she should send her meal back, I didn't want to complain and send mine back as well. Dave the new Manager for the past year was great - he personally made sure my wife was satisfied with her 2nd filet. Our waiter was fantastic and accordingly tipped him 25% since he was so attentive, personable & nothing whatsoever to do with the quality of the food.
Maybe just an off night but J Gilberts has consistenly set the bar so high for steak that when we go to J's we have come to expect to be dazzled & last night we weren't !
Food was absolutely delicious! Had the beet salad, filet mignon with butternut squash risotto, and pumpkin cheesecake. Love this place!

The food was outstanding, and cooked perfectly. You would not think that sauteed spinach would be something to rave about, but mine certainly was. The steak was exactly was medium rare is supposed to be. Our waiter was outstanding, keeping an eye on us without being intrusive. The barrel-aged Manhattan was definitely worth the price of admission. A really wonderful evening
We always start off our night with one of the delicious Manhattan's. Next, the sourdough bread is wonderful as are the salads. Then a perfectly cooked and seasoned steak. Will usually complete the evening by sharing an amazing dessert made by the in-house pastry chef. Have never had a bad meal here. Service is also top notch.

Have visited on multiple occasions and the food was always outstanding. My last visit which was for my wedding anniversary both my wife and I thought the food quality and taste had suffered. Maybe it was just the meals that we ordered but we were not blown away like our previous visits. The service was outstanding none the less.
The food is fantastic, especially the filet! The appetizers and side dishes are also excellent. This is our favorite restaurant for special occasions.

It was a Birthday dinner very disappointed with the meal filet mignon Was grisly and the carrots and string beans were raw and I specifically asked for them to be cooked to be softened.. I HATE RAW VEGETABLES 😡

I have yet to have a bad time at J Gilberts! Our waiter this time around, Evan, was fantastic and the 45 day dry aged steak was phenomenal. Service is great from when you enter and talk to the host to when you are departing. Food is always prepared perfectly and is perfection.
