As always a wonderful experience.
JGilbert’s Always has great food and you can count on great service!
food was great.... service as well.... waiter was informative and friendly
Excellent service and food as always. Maytag blue potato chips a must have for an app. Durango shrimp excellent too. My boys had filet mignon and my husband a 45 day aged Kansas City strip all cooked to perfection. I had the rib eye, very flavorful, tender, just delicious. They didn’t have our favorite steak the Tomahawk Steak tonight - this is a must have if it’s on the menu. Our server was very attentive and on the mark with service.
Always excellent service, steaks are so tender and cooked to perfection. Side dishes are also delicious.
Excellent food, excellent service. Food never disappoints. Sergio is one of the best waiters and he has been there for many years. I love, love the food at J.Gilberts no other steak house can compare.
Excellent menu, both steaks and seafood. Creative sides, very tasty. Nice touch for birthday celebration of colorful celebration sprinkles on the tablecloth. Very much enjoyed our meals, one steak, one salmon. Sides were wonderful.
Always solid. Great value given competitive landscape
My wife and I go here whenever we can (which is a couple of times per year). We always enjoy ourselves. The food and service are great. You'll need a reservation though - it is frequently busy - even on a Tuesday night.
The menu and dinners are outstanding. J Gilberts is our choice for all special occasions.
I got a $25 coupon in my email. We decided to take advantage of it, and we really enjoyed our meal. We will go back again. The onion rings are to die for. I also love the mushroom risotto.
Never disappointed. The food and the staff are incredible!
Friendly and knowledgeable staff and overall nice atmosphere. Food was cooked just right and was delicious. A good wine list and decent beers on tap.
The service was great and food was delicious. We will definitely be back and recommend this restaurant to our friends and family.
Food was delicious but I'm not happy being stuffed in a small booth when other people after us were put into bigger booths that were empty. We were a party of 2 as well as the couples after us. We always seems to get bad seating when we book through Open Table
Went to this restaurant for my bf birthday for first time last week and the food was AMAZING the services could not have been better. The bill was high but we thought it was worth it. Some music would have helped the ambiance but that's it we will definitely recommend this place
We celebrated our 15 Year Wedding Anniversary by having a romantic dinner at J. Gilbert's. We both ordered the Filet Mignon dinner special, and it was cooked to perfection! We enjoyed our meal and dessert, and we will plan on coming back again. I highly recommend this restaurant.
The food never disappoints. I highly recommend the crab cakes, sea scallops or maple plank salmon. Once we were seated however, it was 15 minutes before the waiter came over to greet us and take our drink orders and then it was another 15 minutes before the drinks were delivered... It was also extremely loud on this night due to a birthday party. It's unfortunate that these events cannot be held in private rooms only. It was distracting and took away from the ambiance that I normally enjoy here. But let me reiterate (to conclude on a high note) that the food was nothing short of spectacular.
Wonderful food, wonderful atmosphere. It's very noisy, but otherwise a great experience. Even the bread is delightful, but I should have stopped at one piece, because I could not finish my entire meal.
Outstanding as always, I love this place. The waiter was good, but I have had impeccable way better than good service there before.
Food was exceptional. Nate was my waiter and he was outstanding and very responsive and genuine. There was slight delay in dessert and he handled this very professionally and gracefully. I would highly recommend this establishment for a quality and enjoying evening dining experience.
Great waitress delicious foods.
Great apps and desserts. Steaks were fine, certainly not worth the money. Had better at chain restaurants.
Really aren't too many good places to dine... J Gilberts is my 1st. choice! Always a great experience.
Great food and drinks. Service felt a bit rushed - meals can out very fast. But a nice night out
Excellent night celebrating a birthday. Our server, Sheila, was gregarious and attentive. Nice Seafood medley special for those observing Lent....and then of course the steaks!!!! Nice selection of whiskeys/bourbons/scotches. Great time had by all.
Everything was perfect. Waiters attention to detail is fabulous. We had a $20 coupon that expired. I didn’t ask if they would honor it. He saw it and took it upon himself to ask his manager. They let us use it. Always a pleasure to dine here.
d mayonnaise not much crab. Scollops on lobster risotto was very good but no lobster in the risotto. Crab cakes which were excellent in the past were poor. Too much filler and mayo not much crab. Atmosphere mass market and busy and noisy. Prices very high for value received. This place used to be good but is no longer.
The ambiance was quiet and cozy. The food was wonderful. Shirley, our server, did an excellent job. looking forward to returning there soon
Great food. Excellent waitress. Poor management. My mom loves J. Gilberts -- the steaks are fantastic ... so are the salads, side dishes and desserts. So for her 80th birthday, that's where we went to celebrate. Our waitress was top-notch (attentive but not overbearing). But my mom is hard of hearing and the area of the restaurant we were in was very loud. When I asked to switch tables (making sure they knew it was because mom couldn't hear), I was told all the tables were allocated for pending reservations. I said I understand -- I wasn't asking them to give us an extra table just move us to a different table in the restaurant and give our table to someone coming in later. I was told no. I was shocked. I have never had a restaurant refuse a simple request for help like that. Needless to say, it made the rest of the meal difficult and put a bit of a damper on the evening. So would I recommend J. Gilberts? Not if you are celebrating a special event ... or if you have any requests. While the food is great, the experience was not.
Usually good food but not good this time. The mashed potatoes were so salty and steak was way to smokey
Always great, you can never go wrong at J. Gilbert’s. Staff is the best!!
This may be close to the 100th visit to J. Gilberts, but it could have been the first. If there's one thing that can be appreciated in a restaurant, it is its ability to deliver a consistent experience. J. Gilbert's seems to pride itself on always having the following: Professional and knowledgeable waitstaff, fresh and delicious food, and an environment that melts away so that you can focus on what's most important. The same high quality has never wavered, and it makes me think there must be a manager there who has somehow pioneered some business practice that a book should be written on. From a first date to a wedding anniversary, or anything in-between, J. Gilbert's remains a favorite and essentially the only restaurant we go to anymore.
As for the food, you really cannot go wrong. My wife always gets the scallops, and they always have the same seared outside and are tender on the inside. I've sampled almost everything on the menu, and I prefer to stick with really any of the steaks (although I will get the Tuna from time to time). You will get your steak exactly as you order it, so there is no need to go up or down a step (You may be used to ordering medium-rare and getting medium, ask the staff and they'll make sure it arrives exactly as you order it). Our friends got crabcakes and the 1/2 chicken. Both were pretty much as you'd expect: well seasoned and given the char it needed for flavor. Dessert is essentially always the chocolate velvet cake which can be shared by up to 2-3 people if you'd feel silly attacking a piece of cake together.
My last piece of advice is to make sure you're signed up on their e-mail list. They love to send out $25 off $75 coupons, and many Mondays out of the year are 50% off bottles of wine. Dress code is dressy casual at least (probably want at least a sweater with those jeans), but it can range to however fancy you'd like to get.
Fabulous service, delicious food. Very accommodating & extremely flexible with substituting sides. Very highly recommend!
Good food, good experience overall, we go there as a special treat.
I thought it was a bit pricey for steak and steak portion.
Went for my wife’s birthday and the food was out of this world! Our waiter was slow and appeared overwhelmed by the rush. Would definitely go back though!
Another great dining experience at J Gilbert’s. Always a pleasure.
The food was fantastic in both taste and presentation from appetizers to seafood and meat. One of the best steaks I ever had that practically melted in my mouth. Our waitress and all the staff were very friendly and accommodating. She took extra time to go over the menu choices and provide input on particular dishes.
