Everything was excellent. We were seated two minutes after arrival (on time from the reservation time). Our main waiter (Robert) was very courteous, knowledgeable of all menu items, gave us ample time to decide on dinner, after explaining or responding our questions. I would recommend J. Gilbert's to anyone wanting to enjoy a romantic dinner and superb food. Five stars for the wine, salad, main entree and dessert. My wife and I will certainly revisit J. Gilbert's in the future.
Out for my husband’s birthday. Thrilled they had halibut as their fish special. It was absolutely delicious.
Without a doubt one of the top five restaurants in the State of CT.
We have eaten at j gilberts many times and it is my favorite restaurant. I have to say the waiter was by far the best one we ever had. Service and personality were outstanding
The restaurant was awesome! My husband and I can't believe we've been missing out all these years. My husband loved the crab cakes !!! He enjoyed his porterhouse steak as well. Sea scallops were to die for. Atmosphere was great. Very friendly waiter. We really enjoyed it. Can't wait until our next date night. We will be back to visit very soon.
Great good food as always
Food was excellent!
We went to J. Gilbert's to celebrate a first-time home purchase with friends. While we had no complaints with our server, who was attentive & friendly, we couldn't help feeling "rushed" when it came to the meal itself. Drinks, salads & entrees all arrived one right after the other. There was little down-time between courses. It felt like they wanted to turn the table as quickly as possible.
The food was good, although my husband did comment that the Porterhouse was a little tough.
This place was beyond amazing! I rarely leave a yelp review and one here but it’s highly worth it. It was expensive but honesty worth every cent!
Absolutely love this place! Food is always consistently excellent! Got my favorite....Boned-in Rib Eye with Loaded Baked Potato and Mushrooms.
Have eaten at J.Gilberts several times and never been disappointed. It has an old-style steakhouse feel. The menu is small and concentrates on what they do well - steaks and chops. We liked the cheese board with some local cheeses. We both and a combo with a filet and a crabcake. The crabcake was outstanding - Chesapeake Bay quality. I thought they were a little heavy-handed with the salt on the steak but it was perfectly cooked and wonderfully tender. The cocktails and wine are first class, and the service, as always, was excellent.
Great crab bisque!
I've been to many steak restaurants in major cities and I thought their KC strip was about the best I'd had anywhere. Everything was perfectly prepared, I'm a foodie and I was delighted. Our server was also outstanding - helpful, fun, friendly and very knowledgeable and he made good recommendations. I'd highly recommend this place!
we always enjoy the food at J. Gilbert's ... it is consistently good. Our waiter (Rob) was great that night too!
Great dining experience. Always a good meal. Definitely worth the money. Have been there before and will definitely come back
This restaurant has always been a favorite of mine so I was eager to have my boyfriend try it out. The service was exceptional and our waiter went far above our expectations! I would recommend the cheese plate and Blackened Chicken Penne Pasta to anyone! We were celebrating my birthday and received a free dessert which was a great way to end the evening! Needless to say, we were very happy customers!
This restaurant doesn’t fail to please in all categories. Wait staff is always top notch.
We were given a gift card for our anniversary, and finally had a chance to use it. We dined on a late Sunday afternoon, which was a nice time to go-not too hectic. We were seated at a booth and were greeted quickly by our waiter Jake. Jake was very attentive without being overly so, and was there when we needed him. The food was delicious and seasoned well(no salt and pepper on the tables). My husband had a great strip steak with baked potato and brussel sprouts and I had the filet/crab cake combo with risotto( a bit too salty) and green beans. It was all very yummy. We were too full for dessert, but enjoyed a latte instead. We even found a coupon online for $25 off $75+ and used that along with our gift card. A really great deal! We'll definitely be going back to J. Gilberts in the very near future!
Everthing was just perfect and to my liking. Only thing was the regular restaurant salad (first one) had something extremely spicey in it and customers arent being told beforehand. I ordered it thinking it was a plain salad until i started eating it and it burned the top of my mouth. Servers need to let customers know its very very spicey.
J. Gilbert’s is always amazing, been dining with them for over 15 years and it’s always a perfect experience!! Food, hosts, bartenders and servers are great people.
The food was delicious! Filet mignon & scallops melted in your mouth. Potato Au Gratin, excellent! My husband loved the oysters and lobster mac & cheese. He also loved the Kansas City steak. Everything was cooked to perfection and exactly as we ordered it. Our waiter was prompt and very professional. It was my husband's birthday and they had birthday confetti on the table waiting for us. It was a perfect touch! We will ABSOLUTELY be back! (Warning - it is an expensive steak place, so you will pay.)
This was an exceptional meal with outstanding service!! Our server Kara was outstanding. The Manager also was outstanding, asking if everything was satisfactory. The steaks were unbelievable as were the sides. Highly recommend!!!
Always an excellent experience. The food is to die for, service is great, and the drinks are top notch! This is our favorite spot to go for special occasions and even holidays — their thanksgiving dinner was fabulous!
The dining experience at J. Gilbert's was excellent. We were seated promptly at the time of our reservation. The service staff was friendly and helpful. The food was outstanding. Altogether a very pleasant experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions.
Great place to enjoy good cocktails and great food
Great dinner. Food was amazing. Our waiter Nate was awesome!
out standing steak, prepared sides and desserts... love eating here...
As always, a delicious meal with great service. I’ve never had a bad item and have tried many. Our number one pick for a dinner date!
It was my birthday, I will say everything went well , Fiance had to send steak back to cook a Little but more , but no big deal. Your waitress Lisa , was in agreement that it wasn’t med-well. Your manger host came by to speak to us , without us knowing. I told him it was no big deal but it shows why your business is a great success. We appreciate it and your service . It was a great touch that your staff had alittle birthday touch on table and I appreciate that dessert, that was on the house . Again we love j-Gilbert’s and will definitely be back
Our server, Evan, was attentive and quite pleasant. Will ask for him again. We are regulars at the restaurant and have always received impeccable service.
Our second visit to J Gilbert's. Hubby loves the filet and it was on special ! No problem substituting sides which we appreciate. Lobster Cobb Salad was delish including Sweet Potato Straws. Wine glasses kept refilled by server who was attentive but not overly so. We will be back, again and again. J Gilbert's is a 40 minute drive for us but so worth it.
Nice atmosphere, friendly service. Rib eye steak was excellent, cooked properly, tender and flavorful. Strip steak was good, not outstanding. Sides were creative, veggies not overcooked. Overall, an excellent meal.
Always great. Halibut special very good but too expensive.
Our dinner was great. We ate everything on our plates. Steak was cooked to perfection. Salmon was perfect and tasty. I am only sad about them not offering steak au poivre any longer. It takes skill to make this perfect steak and I guess it’s become difficult to find chefs who know how to do it? I had truffle butter with mine and it was ok but not the same as a real sauce. Also, I think the crab bisque needs to be not quite so thick. And I recall the portions of the bisque were more generous. I’ve moved out of state and missed jgilberts and was looking forward to a scrumptious meal. And, in general, I was not disappointed.
As usual, the ambiance, service and food was outstanding!
Had to wait 10 min to be seated (we had a reservation).
Service was good, but seemed like people kept stopping by to take our plates and we weren't done-just a pet peeve and we seemed like we were being rushed.
30th birthday, great food and service!
Our server was crude, and rude. He's jokes were poorly chosen, and he's table manners left plenty of room for improvement
Always great. Have never been disappointed. Have been dining there for special occasion since it opened.
Thanks for your Great Service and Awesome food
