This place is almost all the way there. Steak was very good. Chorizo flambe app was very tasty but too plain. Could have used a sprucing up (maybe carmelized onions or served over polenta). Bernaise sauce came out ice cold, was sent back and then brought out curdled. Waiter should have noticed and honestly didn't seem to care when we sent it back. Drinks were excellent. They didn't have the first bottle of wine we ordered but our second choice was very good. I would go again. If they can put the final pieces together this could be a homerun.
Overall the experience was just average at best. Wouldn’t rush back
The waiter brought my drink in a glass that was still dirty. My steak was not cooked well done. I ordered a second sprite and it came in a larger glass. Desserts were not given to the correct person at the table.
Went for Valentine’s Day. Was a perfect setting although the price was a bit high for what was served since you had no choice of price fixe or regular menu! Food was good quality though
I would not recommend. The steaks were not prepared to our preference and all 3 had to be sent back. It is highly overpriced and the $25 corking fee was ridiculous. The only reason I gave it 3 stars was for the service and ambiance.
As usual, a wonderful meal with impeccable service.
The food was great, but the service was not what you would expect from a steakhouse and their price point. We were seated 30 min after our reservation time, service was slow to take drink and food orders, and there was very little follow-up at our table.
Steak was Ok! A bit tough to chew on. It was missing flavor. Pricing for steak was that of restaurants in NYC but no where as good.
Waiters were unbelievable though.
It was a great experience. The restaurant was lovely and not too loud. Love that they have round tables for larger groups. Food was good as was the service. Will definitely return.
Our waiter Jeff was outstanding. Service was impeccable. He was friendly but didn’t hover. The food was very good. We’ll be happy to go back.
Outstanding! Everything - filet, scallops, salmon and chicken - was prepared exactly as requested and was delicious. Portions were just-right to generous. Service was graceful, attentive and unobtrusive. Tables are nicely spaced; the decor is tasteful and understated. There is parking behind the restaurant - rare in Morristown. We will be back!
Went for dinner. No one greeted us at door. Place was empty. Finally got seated. Had to keep asking which waiter was ours. Strange experience. Strange ambiance. Prices are high. Food was ok. Will not be returning.
Had a reservation. Several tables seated ahead of us with later reservations. Agreed to share a table with someone or may not have been seated.
Two non-veg options and the 1 was gone replaced with Tilapia. Not a great substitute and it was tough. Way overcooked. .
Waiter and staff did not do anything to acknowledge our flexibility Not a great night.
Overbooked and Underwhelmed: We had an 8:30 pm reservation on NYE. Upon our arrival, we were told the servers were clearing tables and we can wait at the bar until our table was ready. The bar was a madhouse and there was one, poor bartender running around like crazy (with no help). It took about 20 minutes until we were finally served drinks. Although my sangria was delicious, it was not worth the wait or price tag. (Of note-the menu reflected a glass was $9 but we were charged $12). After approximately 30 minutes, I went back to the hostess to confirm she was aware we were waiting at the bar. I also asked how much longer until we were seated. She apologized and reiterated that tables were being cleared as quickly as possible. I returned to the bar and we finished our drinks. After waiting an hour, we were tired and hangry. Further, we were baffled because the back dining room, which was in view of the bar, had several empty tables. I went back to the hostess stand and again, questioned when we can expect to be seated. There were several other people there expressing identical frustrations. The hostess continued to apologize but still, could not tell me when we could expect to be seated. At that point, I requested to speak to the manager. She pointed him out to me behind the bar, where he was assisting the overexerted bartender. I approached him and explained that we had been waiting for an hour for a table, with no end in sight. Rather than apologize or immediately attempt to rectify the situation, he began blaming Open Table for overbooking reservations. We then took our belongings and ate at the restaurant next door.
My primary complaint is that the restaurant was not transparent when we arrived for the reservation. Had we been told they were overbooked and advised of the timeframe for the wait, we could have planned our night accordingly rather than wait for a non-existent table. I was also disturbed by the manager’s handling of the situation.
The restaurant over booked tables and we waited for an hour and a half just to sit. 20 min to get a drink once seated and another 40 min to get food. Management didn't care and many other people just left. Don't go for special occasions, maybe lunch service is better.
They didn’t seat us until 45 minutes after our reservation time. They didn’t give us silverware, water, bread, nobody even came over to our table. After 15 minutes of that, we left.
My reservation was for 8pm, we weren't seated until 9:30. The food was good, waiter was good, but the service was so slow
Great atmosphere and bar area. We celebrated New Year's Eve and were not disappointed. Food was excellent and would recommend the Filet Mignon and Brussel Sprouts. Service was a little slow but with the it being New Year's Eve and how crowded it was it was understandable.
Had New Year’s Eve Dinner and the steak was fantastic. For a holiday prixe fixe the food and value did not disappoint. Staff was attentive. I would definitely go back for the aged steak.
The food was good (a bit over priced) and the drinks were okay (we didn’t have specialty drinks). The star of the night for us by far was our server. He was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and knew when to come and when to go. The food yo can get anywhere but our service was amazing.
Amazing food and great place. This last time that we went however the waiter was not proper. Did not serve ladies first, barely paid attention to the two in our group and did not speak much or answer questions.
We arrived very early for our reservation but they were able to seat us any way. Service was excellent as was the food. Everything cooked as asked and delicious. Looking forward to going again!
Our first time at J&K we found the food just OK, nothing special at all. Service was poor at best. Waiter overfilled wine glasses, then disappeared after taking our order. Food served missing a sauce and waiter finally showed up and got the sauce we wanted. I planned on ordering a glass of red wine, but could not find the waiter and gave up. Noise levels are very high especially with large parties seated in the middle of the dining room. Large parties should be away from the main seating.
We told the server that my daughter had a dairy allergy and asked for recommendations from the chef for her. We ordered what the chef recommended - shrimp skewers w/rice. Approximately 1 hour after dinner - during mass - she got very sick - obviously there was butter in her meal.
The swordfish that both my mother & I ordered was terrible. Certainly not fresh - neither one of us ate it. The server took no notice.
When the tea & coffee came, there was only a splash of hot water in the cups - which appeared to have not been clean to begin with. Not a great dinning experience.
It’s a fine place but they didn’t have enough servers to support the number of guests. Also, the cost versus the quality of the food does not equate - the mushrooms which is a side, taste like they came out of a can versus fresh mushrooms.
The service was very rough - we had a business dinner that felt as though we were on a time table. I should not feel like we need to push the clients out the door when entertaining. Food was fine, although I was expecting better quality from the steak.
I would never go back and I would not recommend it. Our server was rude, we asked to speak to the manager he threw his hands up in the air and and “I am what are you going to do now”. The place was empty . Our party of 4 got up and walked out. We were afraid he was going to hit someone. We ended up at another place down the street , where we were treated with respect.
My go-to place for theater night, now has full bar, no longer BYOB weekends
service: place was not crowded at all and it took way too long between appetizer and main course other than that good
My wife had the salmon and said it was delicious. I had the 16oz bone-in ribeye and found it just ok. Didn't really think it was worth the $40 charge, but that's just my opinion, right?
Was there to see a show at the mayo performing arts center
One steak had to be sent back because it was tough. The replacement was not much better.
No one in our party of four thought their meal was great. Service from bar was very slow.
We will not go back. Thank you!
We were disappointed in our first visit last year but we heard it was under new management so we gave it another shot. We reserved and made it clear we needed a table by a corner because a member of our party had hearing issues. They tried to seat us in the noisiest section. When my wife complained they made other people move as we stood there, very awkward. The steak I ordered was very grisly hard to cut and harder to chew. The asparagus was barely cooked. The waiter only checked our drinks when I caught his attention every 20 mins or so. The furniture was torn and very uncomfortable. After we paid a pretty hefty bill and we were leaving I said goodnight to the hostess who never bothered to look up from her phone. Very bad experience and will not be repeating this mistake
The food was semi decent but the service was awful. The waiter wouldn’t come over initially, bad refill on waters. The waiter was more interested in his other 20 tables that he was waiting on. He didn’t introduce himself or give us any specials. He just walked over after 20 minutes of waiting and asked what we want while looking at other tables. The steak was firm and chewy, too burnt on the outside.
Delicious Steak....but get there in time to be done before the live band starts at the bar in the next room. Unless you know sign language, you will be unable to communicate with your guests. And if you have tinnitus get ready to loose your hearing. I am sure that the noise level exceeds current OSHA standards for safe sound levels
I am not going back!
My husbands birthday
Didn’t seem like the restaurant had enough help, we were sitting in the back room and there were only 2 other tables, 4 or 5 empty. Our waiter was totally rushing around from the front room to the back and was flustered. Took at least 20+ minutes to get drinks and had to keep asking to place our order. The other 2 tables had different waiters. Luckily, the food was DELICIOUS and made up for the inattentive service.
Food is outstanding. Ray was working so service was excellent. Wine prices are ridiculous but sangria is excellent!
Food was very good except my steak was overcooked. I ordered it medium and it was well done. Next time I will order it medium rare. The ambiance was also very nice. I didn't like our waiter. He took a long time to come over to the total. Usually you order drinks first and he just took the whole order and rushed us through the ordering. Didn't tell us fries came with the order and we over ordered the sides. It was really hard to get his attention.
Food was good...service just ok. They are in desperate need of managers.
