J&K Steakhouse of Morristown Ratings and Reviews
Holiday dinner with my team before a concert at MPAC. The hostess is wonderful! Called in advance about dietary restrictions (I’m a Celiac with dairy allergy) and found out they’re BYOB, but she had great wine suggestions to go with their delicious Sangria mix ($15 per pitcher for them to make it). One bottle of wine per pitcher. So we stopped in to Grapeful Palate a minute walk away (they deliver ($15 minimum)) where their staff was very knowledgeable of J&K’s menu to suggest wine for the Sangria.
The hostess was absolutely wonderful. Our waiter on the other hand was adequate at best.
He had the personality of a newly painted wall. The Kansas city steak was good but nothing special. It was cooked well, just the quality of the meat was lacking.
I have had better meals there in the past so would go back.
Went there for a date night. Delicious food, friendly staff, and the noise level was not bad at all for the amount of people there! I really enjoyed the experience. It’s expensive, but if you want a good steak, you expect that. Definitely recommend for (special) date nights, anniversaries, or parties!
Our first time. We found this very nice restaurant on OT on a night we were attending a show at the Mayo Center.
So lucky to have found it. Trendy newer places were packed and this little gem was quiet and easy to get into. Service was amazing! Food was so good! We had the mushroom soup. Very very nice. Calamari and crab cake were very good too. We were in a rush and skipped dessert, they we were celebrating and they brought my friend a desert with a birthday candle while we were paying the bill, free of charge and so fast there was no waiting.
Really a lovely experience.
The food was a definite WOW on this first visit. Everyone in my family had a different cut of steak and all were cooked well and extremely full of flavor. The service was absolutely terrible- from the hostess that scowled as we walked in to the curt waitress and the servers that rushed our food onto the table and then ran away because they were so busy- you felt very unwelcome. The back room we were seated in had zero atmosphere. We went on a Sunday. Maybe that is their "D" team/understaffed night. I'm not sure I will rush back, but may try down the road on another night.
What a terrible and disappointing experience ! Service was simply ridiculous ! We waited for about 20 minutes before our waiter finally showed up to take our order.
Food was served by the busboys who also took away the empty plates. Our server didn’t check with us once ! Appetizer was bland and underwhelming . We were waiting and waiting for our waiter to show up to no avail.
We had to ask 2 busboys to call him so we can address the issue with our appetizer . About 10 minutes later he finally showed up and told us he had to take care of other guests who weren’t happy with their lobster!
He took the appetizer back to the kitchen . You would think that since our appetizer was sent back he would at least make sure we are happy with our main course.
Busboys served the main course dishes , picked up our plates after we were done but the waiter was nowhere to be found ! My chicken Marsala was overlooked and dry but I decided I just can’t deal with sending it back and waiting for a new dish . My husband’s risotto with scallops was bland .
We were celebrating my husband’s birthday . I informed our waiter about it and he said he will bring a desert with the candle and sing happy birthday ... sounded like a good plan ... guess what ? The desert with the candle never showed up, the waiter just brought us a check and said “hope to see you again soon”! I don’t think so !
I decided to go to JK steakhouse and was hoping for a great birthday dinner experience . Unfortunately , it turned out to be a huge disappointment !
Great service and good food. Three of the steaks were cooked to order and were fantastic. The fourth one was undercooked but not sent back. That friend wouldn't know a good steak if it fell in his lap anyway! Overall this was a good experience and I look forward to my next meal there. The picture is the "Kansas City Bone In" cooked medium rare.
Disappointing. The restaurant was understaffed and it showed in all aspects pf service. The servers who were there did their best but they were barley keeping their heads above water. At these price points I expect a quality experience and it was just not to be had on this evening. Finally, my bone-in rib eye was tough, so much so that when I was cutting it other sides on my plate kept getting pushed off due to the level of effort to cut the steak. Again, disappointing.
I usually come here for a good steak, however I was slightly disappointed. The steak was not cooked the way I asked and had to send it back. It was also not seasoned well so I asked for chimichurri sauce and was charged for it. I was quite surprised at that. I just wasn't impressed with my steak this time. Service is always great.
This was our first visit to J&K and it was a great experience. Our meal was excellent and having a steak house of this quality that is BYOB is almost inconceivable. Our waiter was attentive and professional and our food was of excellent quality. The only caution I have is to make sure you tell them exactly how you want your steak prepared, The tend to error on the rare side of preparation. Overall and excellent dinning experience.
J & K is one of very few BYOB steakhouses in the area. The steaks (prime only) and food in general is excellent and freshly prepared. The atmosphere is a bit loud and while that's not a problem for most people it's not the place to have an intimate dinner. With that said if you are looking for a quality steak at reasonable prices look no further. Bring a bottle of your favorite wine/spirit and enjoy!
Was our first time at J & K. It's a quiet atmosphere so you can actually talk to your date. Food isn't anything special. Average fair compared to other restaurants in the area. Shrimp cocktail wasn't great (was a bit mushy like it was just defrosted) and skirt steak was a bit too thick/chewy. My date liked his salad and the Chicken Picatta and bread was great. Service was very good. Overall decor kind of boring/bland. Would go again but wouldn't be one of my top choices in Morristown
The menu lacked creativity. The porterhouse, medium rare, was tough to manage; did not seem as high quality as indicated. Creamed truffled spinach was good but not as flavorful as expected. Shoe string fries for table was not enough for us to share. Knives were dull. Server seemed disappointed we were not getting apps or dessert. Maybe he was annoyed we brought our vegetarian 10 yr. old. Was our second visit. Unremarkable.
