J&G Steakhouse Scottsdale at The Phoenician
Great food and great service....... a little pricey but worth it!
It was great!
Food was great, service was great, a beautiful atmosphere, but when a baked potato is ala carte and costs $10, that’s exorbitant and borders on the rediculous. We had 2 steaks, 3 drinks, one salad and one order of mushrooms and our bill not including tip was $203.
Food was very average for such a high end place. Almost seemed like it sat for some time before served. Never a good thing for a steak.
We went for my husband's birthday, the restaurant and the view were amazing! It's truly stunning! The service was very fast, however the waiter was attentive and slowed it down. We got a wine pairing with our meal and we learned little to nothing about them or why they matched our food, which was disappointing. The food was good, and interesting, however it did not match the price tag. The fish was on the overcooked side, the rice a tad under-cooked, and the choice of dinnerware for the food was interesting. Almost all of it came in bowls and it was hard to eat out of due to the shape. Overall a pleasant experience, with the desert and the tuna tartar being the stars of our meal. Due to the price tag of a full course meal, I would not repeat it. Though we would go back from drinks and appetizers any day. The view of Phoenix truly is stunning!
Birthday celebration. Food was excellent!!
Incredible food. Incredibly disappointing service. Been here many times, even with my young children. Waiter was visibly annoyed with servicing children, difficult about food accommodations even though we had guests with dietary restrictions like high blood pressure. The real mvp was the bussed who was much more helpful. Wouldn’t bother trying other options on Phoenician property. We had service debacle at each.
Great food and atmosphere
Memorable restaurant with exceptional food, attentive staff providing first class service, topped off with a wonderful view-especially when dining at sunset.
Wonderful view of the mountains at sunset food excellent and good choice. Server was lovely and very good but busy
Wife and I had wonderful tasty steaks. I had a great large filet mignon perfectly cooked medium rare. I thought I would have some leftovers. It was so good and could not stop. The mushrooms was also good. Several different types. It may have been a little too pink but deeelicious.
We love this restaurant and my husband and I go for all anniversaries . This time We went with friends for a birthday/anniversary celebration and it was terrific as usual. Food, drinks, service , atmosphere could not have been improved
Sides arrived late. Food was just okay for price. Service was not great. We had a table with a beautiful view.
Very Very Loud In Bar Area Which Can Be Heard In Dining Room. Food Was Good But Slightly Disappointing The French Onion Soup $12 Was Very Bland & The Choice Of Cheese Was Really Difficult too Eat. Scallop Potatoes Good But At $10 Way Over priced. Wines Extremely High Priced We Eat At Other Prime Steak Venues More Bang 4 The Buck.
I think the restaurant was a little understaffed. It was hard to get drinks timely.
Outstanding! The service was impeccable. The wine selection fantastic. Consistently a five star experience!!
We always visit J & G when we're in Scottsdale, because the atmosphere can't be beat, and the food is delicious. We were on the deck by the firepit and the view of the resort is spectacular. The onion soup and heirloom tomatoes were outstanding, as was the steak. If you want a memorable meal, visit this steakhouse.
My husband and I had a perfect evening at J&G Steak House at The Phoenician. I would like to say thank you to the entire restaurant staff for such a memorable evening. It turned out to be my husband's final meal, he died early the following morning from a massive stroke.
Entrees were great however our side dishes were all cold and by the time we received replacements we were done the entrees.
The ambience is nice and the view is great especially at sunset.
Martini was made incorrectly and served in a wine style glass, ordered it as ice cold, its was warm
Wine by the glass offer, anemic at best.
Servers were outstanding, seating and view were top shelf, food good, I have better steak at CapGrille or other high end chains
Lovely birthday desert
This lovely restaurant poised at the top of the Phoenician Hotel offers amazing views as well as excellent service and great food. I had the Dover Sole which was presented tableside and deboned. My husband enjoyed a steak which is his favorite. We also loved the tomatoes with crispy onion and Russian dressing. It was a relaxing and elegant evening in Phoenix!
The service was the best part. Our waiter and other staff were not only attentive but very friendly. Of course, being at the Phoenician, one can anticipate to pay a large amount of money for routine foods, but those foods should be on the north end of the scale. The best tasting part was the birthday dessert. The filet was sirloin tender, not filet tender and the oysters were sandy and gritty. The martini was good, the Old Fashioned was not stirred and there was nothing on the table or in the drink to stir with other than the butter knife. The wait staff was gracious and caring and timely. I would go back to be served by those guys but not for the food.
Reservations were difficult and hostess was less than amenable. Initially reserved for 7 and tried to change to accommodate 1-2 more guests ; even at a separate table was totally fine. Stated there was no way the restaurant could adjust in that time frame maybe a late sitting three hours later. I went back to Open Table and saw they had two reservations open within 15 min of my original booking and booked that . All great due to Open Table!
Thanks for your assistance
excellent food & service. beautiful view !
Slow getting our food. Crab cakes are a must. Would try this place again.
From the moment that we arrived, our dining experience was fantastic. The service was impeccable. Our waiter was personable and attentive. And the food! The vegetarian in our party loved the menu selections. And our steaks were cooked to perfection. I would come back for the butternut squash soup alone. Everything that everyone ordered was delicious. All of that and the beautiful view of Phoenix too? A+
We have been going to J and G since it opened, as guests of the Phoenician every year. The food was good but not amazing, relative to other steakhouses. The porterhouse house steak was just ok but the tuna tartare was really good.
Love the Phoenician and the wonderful ambiance of J&G Steakhouse. Service was exceptional! Food great. All enjoyed with a beautiful view from our table window.
Excellent menu choices. Beautiful presentation of every dish a d all items were delicious
Everything about J&G was excellent. The food was perfect, the wine divine and the service was superb.
My husband and I are still having date nights (even after 51 years of marriage). This is a perfect place for such occasion. The view, the food, the service and ambiance were all perfect.
The service was slow but everything else was fine. We enjoyed the food.
The service was the problem. The waitress literally acted like we were not there most of the night. The food was excellent and the wine was wonderful.
Parker House rolls overcooked hard & dry, not soft & fresh, complimentary appetizer a pleasant surprise, the wedge lettuce salad under garnished with dressing that was immediately fixed.
Entree's didn't satisfy but maybe it was an off night for us. My red snapper was served on cubes of squash with a strange sauce taste not to my liking nor the broth to put on it. I should have substituted mashed potato's and simply sautéed the fish. Serving size smaller than desired but.....
My wife's short ribs were not only browned but the exterior was blackened and quite dried out. Gave the impression of being cooked long ago and kept in the fridge to be warmed when ordered. Sauce no aromas of sizzling hearty food.
We'll stick with our favorite dover sole in the future.
The food was delicious! I can’t wait to visit Phoenix again just to eat here!
Food was very good, the atmosphere good, view excellent and the service was okay. For the cost of the meal I was expecting better attention by the wait staff. Our reservation was a 6:30 so the restaurant was not very busy but still service was lacking. I would recommend the restaurant to those who are looking for an upscale experience as everything is expensive, but we knew that going in.
The place and views were stunning! Our waiter was wonderful. We mentioned we were newlyweds and they brought us dessert! We had an awesome time and are looking forward to going back.
We had the tasting menu. Food and service were outstanding!
