Very poor service. Unfriendly. Not mean just absent. Very disappointed. Beautiful view. Delicious food. Terrible service. Long periods of time with no food on table. Unapologetic server and manager. Assistant was kind but no explanation why it was so long.
Arrived early and sat at bar for cocktail. Great Martini!Thank goodness for that. Had told hostess where we were but had to find her to get our table. They tried to seat us at a very small 2 seat table between 2 groups. Having used Open table we expected better. It looked like everyone declined the table. After requesting and getting another table we sat and ordered a appetizer. Food was ok at best. Not hot(filets) and sides. Ordered 2 glasses of wine and waiter came to pour. He poured my wife’s first like it was a taste then preceded to pour mine then started to walk away. I had to ask him to pour my wife some more and more for me. After he walked away we realized we should have asked for how many oz.s we were supposed to receive by ordering by the glass. Not impressed by service and definitely not worth the price
After following J&G Steakhouse on Instagram for quite some time, dining here was a must during my recent vacation to the Phoenix area. My boyfriend and I were blown away from the moment we walked in - the view was absolutely beautiful! Raul took great care of us and Robert the bartender was wonderful (we’ll be looking for your Manhattan mix when we get back to Wisconsin!)
The flavors were unbelievable. Everything was perfectly prepared and beautifully served. I can’t wait to dine here again!
Thank you for an unforgettable experience!
They beautifully accommodated my family which included my elderly Mama with a wheelchair. Service was incredible - every one of them. Professional, knowledgeable, helpful but not stuffy. The view was wonderful from the patio at sunset. The food was simply amazing; one of the very best any of us have had. A special, special place.
First time to this restaurant. We were very pleased. We wanted to try something new for dinner in Scottsdale and we weren’t disappointed. The atmosphere is really nice and sophisticated. The view is gorgeous. We had a rainy evening believe it or not in the desert and we still had a fabulous view over looking all Scottsdale with a gorgeous fire pit roaring next to us while standing on the patio. My favorite item was their sweet n sour pork belly. I’m kind of a pork belly snob....and that pork belly is in my top two that I’ve ever had. Very tasty and very tender and lean. I loved my short rib meal. Our collection of sorbets were fabulous. Can’t say enough about our server....she did a fabulous job and truly a pleasure to interact with. We kid around a lot and she was right in there with us joking around. It made our table very relaxed and at ease. We have already told other local friends about J&G Steakhouse since our visit just a few nights ago.
58th birthday, steak was wonderful, tender and cooked perfectly. Heirloom tomato salad was good. Giant onion rings batter was odd. Disappointed in the missing asparagus risotto I remembered from last year this time.
We had a delightful time entertaining some out-of-town- friends who were staying at your resort. The only one off moment was our seating by an older gentleman that hardly spoke as we made it to our table. I asked him to order me a glass of champagne like my wife ordered at the bar and he looked dumbstruck by my request. He wordlessly pointed at our server busy at the next table and walked off!
Austin our server was a real pro and this will mark our fifth visit for dinner.
We were so pleased they seated us at the patio and even the weather was fabulous. Appetizers, salads, entrees, desserts, beverages (especially my Remy XO) were five star quality.
Great food, great service! Love the view! Definitely recommend.
We were greeted by a very friendly woman who then had us seated. We had outstanding friendly service at all times. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. We so enjoyed our evening. Thank you.
We went here for our anniversary. Was beautiful, great food, great service, made a special dessert for our celebration. Very happy!
Service was horrible from the minute we sat down at the table. Food was very good but hard to enjoy with bad service. There are many great steakhouses to choose from in the area so for our next steak dinner we won’t be choosing J&G.
First of all, the restaurant is beautiful! If you want views, this is your place. Unfortunately, we found the service to be lacking: although a person who appeared to be a manger stood by, we sat in the bar for 15 minutes before we finally went to the counter to order for ourselves. When we saw live musical entertainment setting up, we cringed, not because the performer was bad (he was very good, actually), but because we have found in this hotel that the music is too loud for conversation. We were seated in a faraway corner, but not to worry—there are plenty of speakers. Our dinner waiter was stressed with too many tables, and too many of them big tables, so we did not get the attention we expected from a restaurant in this price range ($$). In his haste, our waiter recommended we order our steaks medium well if we wanted them to be pink inside, but they were overcooked. We would have sent them back if we could have caught him. Everything else was very tasty, though, especially the J& G salad. Since we live in the area, we will probably give J & G a second chance, but on a week night when it is not so crowded. Overall, we were disappointed in our experience here.
We were staying at the Phoenician for my sister’s 60th birthday and dining at the restaurant was convenient for a Saturday night. Views were spectacular at sundown. Server was very flexible and did wine pairings with our ala carte selections. Tuna Tartar was really delicious— we ordered a 2nd one for sharing. Entrees were the black cod (really delicious!!!) and the beef tenderloin. Service was attentive.. ask for Jeff as your server.
Jack our waiter was excellent.
Miserable ambiance. Super loud. Table next to us out of control. Yelling screaming clapping. Took hours for our food. This is NOT fine dining. Server got our CC and didn’t give us proper receipt. Ran up to us and treated us like thieves. I asked for the manager and some absolutely obnoxious very young and inexperienced woman claimed it was her. She continuously talked over me and interrupted me. She wouldn’t let me the GUEST speak. She was rude and condescending. After enough of her idiocy my wife said Let’s just leave. On the way out she was loudly spouting disrespectfuly to my back “if that what you want to think” and other rude comments. I uttered some profanity and left. Ask yourself is it worth spending $300 plus for two people to be treated rudely in a absurd frat boy atmosphere? NO. I have been there many many times over the years. The food is now cliche and the atmosphere horrible unless you are a drunk 30s frat boy. Management is useless unless you like to guarantee that interaction with them totally ruins your night. Rude and untrained in the least and aggressively offensive in reality. The guest should be heard as well as listened to, especially after miserable service and management that could care less about you enjoying your experience. All they had to do is look in their reservation system to see that I have dined her e multiple times. They must be planning on only serving drunken low class conventioneers who will never return. I won’t either!!! $300 checks must not have impressed the staff enough to be respectful.
Noisy atmosphere, slow service from all staff and mediocre food.
Phenomenal food, service and setting. Everyone at our table of four ordered a different cut of steak and no one was disappointed. Reluctantly skipped appetizers (as the options looked wonderful) because we weren't hungry enough. Entrees, sides and desserts were fantastic. Dined with three kids who asked for minor changes to the standard preparation of the entrees which were happily accommodated. The food matches the amazing view. Would definitely dine here again.
I had not been to this restaurant for several years. We went for to celebrate Valentine's Day even though it was a couple days past. I was pleasantly surprised. It was excellent. The food, service and ambiance were all perfect. We will definitely be back!
Delicious steaks and great view! Always enjoy celebrating special times there with family.
We’ve been here before, but are still always amazed with the outstanding quality of the food and service. The fantastic views and ambiance are a bonus as well.
Awesome food & service too
We attended for Valentines. Lovely evening, we have been here many times but tonight was not up to standards. Perhaps it was the rainy weather but the food didnt shine as it usually does. Normally a very creative chef and phenomenal flavors, not tonight but maybe next time. We will be back when the weather gets great.
Awesome all around
Everything was perfect. My server, John was very professional and all smiles. I have no bemol!
Delightful evening. Food, service and ambiance were exceptional! I'll be back soon!
Probably the best steakhouse i’ve been too! Steak and the sauces were amazing as well as the appetizers of pork belly and beet risotto! Service was amazing and the view to die for! Would recommend for anyone visiting scottsdale and need a perfect date or special occassiom restaurant!
Amazing views & good service. They treat you like they care about you.
It was a pleasure to find a place w/good food & were able to carry on a conversation. Breath taking view as well. Thank you!
Great location. Great food. Great staff.
Excellent on all levels. Exactly what you would expect from a world class restaurant
Wonderful food, drink, service and view changing color in the sunset magic hour.
Beautiful location on the 5th floor of the Phoenician Hotel, worth the view of the sunset, amazing! Wait staff and presentation was impeccable, well spaced meal left time to enjoy the company and each course.
J&G is one of our favorite restaurants and we always ask for Candace as a server (she is outstanding). However, last weekend we drew another server (wish I had gotten his name) because Candace was committed to serving a large party. This guy did the worst job of serving I have ever experienced. He argued with us when we sat down, ignored us for drinks for 10-15 minutes and was simply a miserable human being. Luckily Candace stopped by the table several times and brought us a special treat on her own at the end of the meal. We won't let this turn us off to J&G as this was a once in many visits bad experience, and we spoke with the size of our tip. But in the future we both plan to be more vocal if this ever happens again and recommend that you are too. There is no excuse for bad service.
Our party of 4 enjoyed the view, the ambiance, and the great service provided by John H.
Our wine and food were delicious.
The Birthday dessert made the evening even more special.
Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Lovely and the ambiance was amazing
Perfect service. Food was good not great. Beautiful view.
Great ambiance and fantastic food.
Service and attention to details: 5 star.
Not inexpensive, but worth it.
Will come again.
Our food was delicious and enjoyable as always at J&G
