We had a lovely dinner at the perfect outdoor table with a view. I had the filet, and my husband had the New York strip. Both were absolutely perfect. The scalloped potatoes and mushrooms were also delicious. Service was exceptional from the valet parking, to the cocktail lounge, to dinner, and finally back to the valet who offered us a bottle of water for the drive home. We would definitely recommend J & G Steakhouse for a special evening!
Enjoyed the food and service highly recommended-when I come back to Arizona I will make sure I will dine again - the view also a plus - we had a server named Candice she was so informative about the food I give her a high five
These guys consistently have great food, attentive service and breathtaking views.
Good food! Great view
Sauteed Spinach was 100%
Our dining experience was compromised,if not ruined, by a party of seven . Some were extremely loud and behaving as if they were in a sports bar vs what I considered a fine dining restaurant.
The staff was very attentive and accommodating. The food was really good.
The setting was very nice, the valet was very helpful, the service provided by our waiter was surely exceptional, and the food tasted very good. The decor and lighting inside is amazing and the view of a Phoenix night skyline was more then worth the price.
The steaks (filet and NY strip), scalloped potatoes and outstanding appetizers we're outstanding!
Sat outside. Everything was about as expected. Pretty good food. Pretty good service. But just a great location. Super nice to eat outside.
We went to J&G for my childhood friend's special birthday. The service was very professional. The food was very good and the atmosphere is very pleasant. When the waitress found out it was my friend's birthday she treated her to a desert of her choice. There was also music entertainment
In the lounge. Save this one for a special meal with a special person or persons.
We went here for a special occasion. The food was very good. We ordered the Salmon and it was both prepared and tasted excellent. The bus girl who gave the bread, refilled the glasses, and cleaned the table was a pleasure. She was very friendly and went out of her way to make us happy. We wished she was our waitress!
What was extremely below expectations was our waiter. I believe his name was John H. He didn't seem to friendly and was not around much. We ordered bottled flat water for the table, and he came with an open bottle of VOSS water with the label peeling off it. It wasn't opened at the table and actually tasted like it might have been filled with TAP water. When we got the bill, it said we were paying for FIJI water, which we didn't get.
Unfortunately there was one additional incident that was more disturbing. We paid with our credit card and when the waiter returned after running the card, he didn't give back our credit card. He quickly left and we had to ask the bus girl to find our credit card. Shortly after, the waiter came back and took it out of his inside shirt pocket. He said he had forgot, but it's very hard to believe he would go run the credit card and forget to return it moments later. And having it inside his shirt pocket is clearly not something a person would do with someone else's credit card if they intended to return it. We cancelled our credit card the next morning to be safe of possible fraud.
For the price of the meal, I would say THE SERVICE SUCKED SO BAD, the wait time to have our ordered taken was STUPID LONG.
My family and I had a wonderful evening. We had a teen and he learned a good bit about fine dining. The wait staff was excellent. The food was outstanding and nice presentation.
Nice outdoor seating. Excellent service.
We had the salmon fillet and ribeye. All were delicious! This was my second trip to J&G Steakhouse I took my son for his 21st birthday the food and service were outstanding both times I would recommend For a very special occasion as it is quite pricey our bill for four people that included two drinks per person and three desserts was about $400. But worth every penny.
We have dined at J&G for many years, making it an Easter tradition with my family. It usually is excellent. Unfortunately, this year was was not. Our server was pleasant and spent a good amount of time tending to the table. The food however was way below prior standards. My husband started with the beet salad and completely enjoyed its flavor and presentation. For his entree, he had the salmon. The piece of fish was very small and sat on a bed of runny mashed potatoes. The vegetable was snap peas. Not what I’d expect for $32.00 on Easter Sunday .My chilled lobster tail was just okay. I can get much better at Buck and Rider, but shouldn’t be able to because J&G is supposed to be THAT restaurant. My Ahi tower was atrocious! The tuna was ground down to pablum and when the server brought a spoon for me to eat it, I completely understood. It was runny and clearly not good quality Ahi, as it would never be prepared that way. My daughter had the best experience by having the petite filet, however, the macaroni and cheese side was not the same quality and flavor as what we had earlier in the week at Southern Rail. My daughter and I both had the Caesar salads and although they come with far too much Parmesan cheese ( I realize most would not complain about this) it was lovely! The wine - a Pinot Noir was excellent! Recommended by our server who blurted out the suggestion as soon as we said we wanted a Pinot, even though we had picked one out that was a better value. For $90.00 our server had the lack of awareness to suggest it was a reasonable price point and that he would “never pay more that &100.00 for a bottle of wine.” Well, I will tell you, we never spend that kind of money on a bottle of wine, not because we are cheap or cannot afford to but because we don’t have to. The wines being produced today are better than ever and an establishment like J&G wouldn’t have a bad wine on the list. So for me it was an over step. Hope the renovated space improves everything.
J&G matches Scottsdale's other premium steakhouses in food quality, but lacks a soul. The spectacular views are a big plus for J&G, but in all other respects the dining room has that non-descript resort restaurant feel and energy. I would certainly consider J&G for a business dinner or large group, but never for a "night out," when I want the restaurant to supply some of the fun, energy and excitement.
The wine list at J&G is a bit problematic, as well. By and large it features very young bottles from big name vintners, but at astronomical prices. I settled on a bottle at the mid-point of their range, enjoyed it thoroughly and then went out the following day and bought a few bottles locally for 25 percent of the price. I guess they are using a "captive guest" pricing model.
I live nearly across the street from J&G and wish they would aspire to being more than a competent hotel restaurant. With a little vision, J&G could rival Steak 44 and Mastro's.
Very wonderful! On Easter, the 3 course meal was excellent.. generous portions and very impressive. The views are fabulous!
First impressions make a difference. Hostess didn't notice the crumbs and such on the chairs - we had to wipe them off ourselves while she watched. Bad impression. Then the waiter asked us if we wanted our favorite drink from last time we were there, which was only once. Good. I ordered the pea soup which tasted only of parmesaan, so I sent it back and got the tomato salad, which was very good. The fois gras tourine was delicious. We shared the Tomahawk rib-eye. Small and very fatty for $130. Creamed spinach was great. Overall, it was just pretty good.
"Jersey Jeff" our waiter was fun and very informative. Great job!
Great food beautiful ambiance
Food took over one hour to come out. Steak was well done VS medium rare. The place was half empty so not sure of why the service was so slow.
We’ve dined at lots of JG restaurants around the country. However we’ve never had an experience like the one we experienced this evening. First we selected 3 different wines, none of which was in stock. Next we waited for over 30 minutes our meal to the served and not one person came to our table to inform us what was going on. When the food finally arrived the diner getting fish was served first while the other two of us waited for our steaks as minutes passed...very awkward. The food was good and properly cooked. When we complained to our waiter he sent over one of the assistant managers. She told us they had a large dinner party that night and that was the reason for the problem. We appreciated the explanation but it just was not the JG dining experience we have come to expect. We left disappointed.
Food and service were superb. Beautiful view. Everything was excellent.
We made a last minute reservation and were not disappointed - great steaks and salads and sides. The bartender was great.
Birthday dinner for my friend. The view was spectacular and the waiter was beyond prompt and knowledgeable. They went out of their way to ensure it was a special night for my friend. Much Appreciated!
Red wine was too cold. Medium rare steak was more on the medium side. We were placed within 6 ft. of a serving station. Not pleasant. Beautiful view, however.
I thought the service was slow to attend to us. Then they arrived the order was incorrect. After that, my bill came back at 500 dollars when its total was supposed to be 300. Kind of messy for such a high end restaraunt.
Everything was absolutely perfect: the service, the food, the music the views! Thank you!
Every bite was outstanding. The view is breathtaking. The overall atmosphere is formal but comfortable. The staff seem to enjoy their work!!! The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and efficient.
This is a “must do” in the Phoenix area!!
We brought our friends and they were impressed with the service and beauty of the Phoenician!
Very poor service. Unfriendly. Not mean just absent. Very disappointed. Beautiful view. Delicious food. Terrible service. Long periods of time with no food on table. Unapologetic server and manager. Assistant was kind but no explanation why it was so long.
Absolutely fantastic food. The chef is amazing. Service was excellent. We were seated by a very large business group and they were extremely loud and behaved as if they were the only table in the restaurant. Unfortunately it ruined our otherwise wonderful evening.
Went to watch the sun go down, restaurant faces East.
Good menu, great smells but they can't execute. Dover sole for $66? Got Lobster and 8 oz filet.
Roasted lobster was so dry and overcooked the claw meat was inedible. "HOT" spinach was cold. Pretentious at best, overpriced for sure. Too many children at dinner, 3 infants and then two teens with cell phones texting their parents at the same table next to us. Tis a pity, so much potential there. Would try again.
Arrived early and sat at bar for cocktail. Great Martini!Thank goodness for that. Had told hostess where we were but had to find her to get our table. They tried to seat us at a very small 2 seat table between 2 groups. Having used Open table we expected better. It looked like everyone declined the table. After requesting and getting another table we sat and ordered a appetizer. Food was ok at best. Not hot(filets) and sides. Ordered 2 glasses of wine and waiter came to pour. He poured my wife’s first like it was a taste then preceded to pour mine then started to walk away. I had to ask him to pour my wife some more and more for me. After he walked away we realized we should have asked for how many oz.s we were supposed to receive by ordering by the glass. Not impressed by service and definitely not worth the price
After following J&G Steakhouse on Instagram for quite some time, dining here was a must during my recent vacation to the Phoenix area. My boyfriend and I were blown away from the moment we walked in - the view was absolutely beautiful! Raul took great care of us and Robert the bartender was wonderful (we’ll be looking for your Manhattan mix when we get back to Wisconsin!)
The flavors were unbelievable. Everything was perfectly prepared and beautifully served. I can’t wait to dine here again!
Thank you for an unforgettable experience!
They beautifully accommodated my family which included my elderly Mama with a wheelchair. Service was incredible - every one of them. Professional, knowledgeable, helpful but not stuffy. The view was wonderful from the patio at sunset. The food was simply amazing; one of the very best any of us have had. A special, special place.
First time to this restaurant. We were very pleased. We wanted to try something new for dinner in Scottsdale and we weren’t disappointed. The atmosphere is really nice and sophisticated. The view is gorgeous. We had a rainy evening believe it or not in the desert and we still had a fabulous view over looking all Scottsdale with a gorgeous fire pit roaring next to us while standing on the patio. My favorite item was their sweet n sour pork belly. I’m kind of a pork belly snob....and that pork belly is in my top two that I’ve ever had. Very tasty and very tender and lean. I loved my short rib meal. Our collection of sorbets were fabulous. Can’t say enough about our server....she did a fabulous job and truly a pleasure to interact with. We kid around a lot and she was right in there with us joking around. It made our table very relaxed and at ease. We have already told other local friends about J&G Steakhouse since our visit just a few nights ago.
58th birthday, steak was wonderful, tender and cooked perfectly. Heirloom tomato salad was good. Giant onion rings batter was odd. Disappointed in the missing asparagus risotto I remembered from last year this time.
We had a delightful time entertaining some out-of-town- friends who were staying at your resort. The only one off moment was our seating by an older gentleman that hardly spoke as we made it to our table. I asked him to order me a glass of champagne like my wife ordered at the bar and he looked dumbstruck by my request. He wordlessly pointed at our server busy at the next table and walked off!
Austin our server was a real pro and this will mark our fifth visit for dinner.
We were so pleased they seated us at the patio and even the weather was fabulous. Appetizers, salads, entrees, desserts, beverages (especially my Remy XO) were five star quality.
