J&G Steakhouse Scottsdale at The Phoenician
I'm so glad that I chose J and G Steakhouse to celebrate my husband's birthday. The level of service was outstanding and the food was extremely tasty!
Our waiter was fantastic! Food was great! Have rebooked for our next trip to Phoenix!
The service was great, food great and view was fantastic!
Every once in awhile you really just want to go out and splurge on a nice dinner. You can certainly do that here so be prepared to pay but it was completely worth it. On a side note, while the hotel does charge for parking, the steakhouse will validate for you. When you are seated one of the first things you notice is the wonderful view of the valley below. My server was simply amazing as she was very friendly and attentive. I ordered a bison ribeye with a chili glaze along with the mashed potatoes on the side. Let me say, that steak was absolutely amazing. It was perfectly cooked and putting the chili glaze on top made it that much better. The mashed potatoes were light, fluffy and just wonderful. I will certainly be going here again.
Everything about our dinner was absolutely outstanding! The service, the views, the food...just wonderful. We ate out at 4 of the other top rated dinner restaurants on Trip Advisor during our visit and J&G far exceeded all of them. Just so good!
On a positive note, the vodka martini was very good, my wife's Cosmopolitan was excellent and wine by the glass was a decent pour. My wife's soup was watery and somewhat tasteless. Her risotto??? She ordered the appetizer portion but the bill reflected an Entree very high price. I ordered the beef special for the evening @ $60. It was was worth much less. I doubt if we will return even though we are local. For Marriott, we are Lifetime Platinum.
Great venue for New Year’s eve. They never tried to rush us out in favor of getting more diners through. Fantastic band playing! By far, one of my favorite steaks & places in the Phoenix area.
Went on New Year’s Eve and was concerned that we would be rushed and the food wouldn’t be great. Our party was over the moon about the service, food and atmosphere. We had a great night! From appetizers to dessert we were not disappointed. Our waiter was exceptional and didn’t rush our evening. Will definitely be going back.
We love to dine at J&G when we visit our daughter in AZ. We celebrated an early New Year’s dinner with her and as always was top notch. Food was great, we had seating overlooking the valley, and our server, Amy, was simply the best. Highly recommend!
Great food and David was a great waiter. We will definitely dine here again if we come back in town. Thanks for a great experience
I love this restaurant, I am a regular . This time i did not quite love the environment that much : we were seated next to a large family with two small children. The kids were running around and screaming and crying . It kinda felt like a kindergarten cafeteria . At one point a kid around 6 yrs of age or so was stretched out on the floor by my feet. Not ideal for a nice J&G's dinner.
It was an absolutely wonderful experience! The food was magnificent, the service was great and I will definitely be back!
J&G Steakhouse is an excellent dining experience for the holidays.
Always on target. Only neg was the use of our dinner to train a server to debone a fish. Otherwise charming evening.
Staff was excellent. Food was excellent. If I could ask for one thing is that the live entertainment was a bit lower in volume. Overall it was excellent. I will return!
Food was good. Service was good. But certainly nothing mind-blowing or memorable about the experience.
Outstanding food quality, great service and server, will return soon!
Beautiful setting, first class service, delicious food.
The location, the setting and the view were all outstanding. Our server was a bit aloof and there was an unusually long wait between courses and from the end of the meal to receiving a check. The food was quite good but we have had equally good, or better, at other restaurants for a much lower price. I might consider J&G again for some VERY special occasion but not for an ordinary dining out dinner.
Amazing food and wonderful staff! The restaurant was absolutely beautiful and the view was amazing.
Nice date night. Food was very good overall.
Outstanding food, service, and atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.
Delight sunset dining with a delightful staff, very attentive and excellent wine menu. All four courses were just excellent and the blood red orange sorbet with cheesecake was unbelievably delicious!! A must visit when in town.
Food was good and portions were large. Steak was cooked properly and was tender and tasty, dover sole was perfectly cooked and delicious! Decor somewhat overdone in our opinion. Service was competent, but when we complained about a very noisy group of 12 seated adjacent to us, nothing was done. On the other hand the glass of champagne we each had as an aperitif was madeirized or off in some other way; a second glass was the same but we did not send it back. Nevertheless we were NOT charged for it.
J&G was our choice for an anniversary celebration. We started with cocktails at the well-known Thirsty Camel bar in the lobby. It was an exceptional experience! Particularly enjoyed the Thai Fighter- vodka, Malibu, basil, and other yummy ingredients. Cannot wait to try it again.
The steakhouse has a nice atmosphere- energetic, nicely appointed, AND, you can hear yourself think! The service was 100% on the mark, and there is an excellent wine list.
Only 1 type of bread is offered, a roll that is only okay and not worth the calories. The real standout of dinner were the sides- excellent salad, fabulous roasted beets, and wonderful parmesan risotto.
On to the steaks- Surprisingly, not the best. The meat was of an okay but not superior quality. We both had filets and they were not flavorful. Once again, Capital Grille is my standard and the steak is significantly tastier.
Since it was our anniversary, we were treated to a great chocolate lava cake with caramel ice cream!
Food was average at best and service was below par for this price point. We ordered appetizers, salads , steak, salmon, for 4 People. I would rank J&g has middle to lower middle of all the high end steakhouses in Phx
We enjoyed a wonderful anniversary dinner at J & G! Both the hostess who seated us and our server wished us a happy anniversary as they greeted us. Our server was personable and friendly without hovering. We were seated at a table with a great view of the city.
We started with glass of New Mexican sparkling wine and a delicious mushroom soup. We each enjoyed entrees of filet mignon, which was perfectly cooked and served with three different sauces and grilled shishito peppers. We also shared sides of asparagus and broccoli; the asparagus portion was perfect, while the broccoli portion was more than we could finish. We accompanied our dinner with a bottle of Dos Cebazos red blend, which was a perfect accompaniment to the filet. As she was clearing our table, our server commented that, "Something delicious this way comes." A few moments later, our complementary dessert was served, a pumpkin cheesecake with a scoop of honey ice cream and a ribbon of chocolate emblazoned with "Happy Anniversary." A really lovely anniversary dinner!
Originally, just old friends getting together after a couple of years. Discovered during dinner it was also their Wedding Anniversary...Always great getting together with old friends...
FOOD. Good but I expected to be blown away. Living in Houston, we have a local steakhouse with an awesome wine list. Having lived in NYC and having heard "Jean-Georges", I expected J&G to be world class. Certainly better than the local place anyhow. Nope. Steak was good but required the special side sauces to be better than good. The special salad, warm carrots with goat cheese and pine nuts, was good but had gratuitous avocado (it's Phoenix, you have to have avocado even if the flavor profile of the rest of the dish has nothing to do with it?). My husband's foie gras apparently tasted less rich than others (and was the pate sort instead of the lobes that he prefers), and also had a gratuitous chutney that added nothing.
SERVICE. Was awesome. The waitstaff recommended a reasonably-priced wine that went very well with the meal and met my description of what I was looking for. I'd have spent double but they didn't push the higher priced options. Great food recommendations also. It is a pet peeve of mine that waitstaff will respond with a "they're both good" when asked which is better. Not the case here - did come with a "this is my personal preference and yours may be different" but that is fine. Also, attentive without being obtrusive. Perfect.
AMBIANCE. Very pretty space. Pretty loud, however, so I wouldn't recommend it for a place to catch up with a friend you haven't seen in a while.
Given all the options in the Scottsdale area for steak, I probably would not return here. They consider banquette style seating as booth seating. Then they crowd people in them. They didn't seem to really care if I had an acceptable table or not. Food was okay. I ended up sitting at the bar. Service was okay.
We love Jean George but the food here is NOT up to JG standards.
Our server was amazing. She was very friendly and made it a fun evening out.
We had horrible service. We waited over 2 hours for our food, and we had 2 young children with us. The steaks were good, but our experience was ruined by the incredibly poor service.
Excellent food service and ambiance. Fairly expensive but good quality
We had an amazing dinner at J&G. The food was top notch. Our waiter David and the support staff were all outstanding. The setting and ambiance were excellent. We will definitely go back.
We had dinner at J&G Steakhouse for our wedding anniversary. This was the first time that we have eaten there and it was fantastic. The moment we walked in the hostess wished us a Happy Anniversary. Our server and the manager both wished us a Happy Anniversary. The service was tremendous and the food was fantastic. J&G treated us very well and we will definitely go back.
A number of issues, too many to list, led the Manager to comp our meal. My wife and I were looking forward to this as our last dinner in Scottsdale, and as we were staying at the Phoenician, thought it would be convenient and delicious. Really disappointed, we will not dine here again on future stays.
Fabulous! A gorgeous restaurant at a gorgeous resort! Fantastic service! We had a great time!
Outstanding service, food, ambiance and an incredible view! Make sure you ask for a table outside on the balcony.
