Great meal, great people. Everyone needs to try their very best chocolate cake. It is amazing
Came in with a group of old friends, they were featuring a fantastic bottle of red wine and a blue cheese strip that was beautiful. Keep it up!
I love the atmosphere. Beautiful bar that has a good buzz but not too crazy. Also my favorite spot to entertain clients in the area. They have a great wine list that I would put up against any in the city for value (The Prisoner $70, Heitz $90, Camus $110, Silver Oak $145).
The first thing that struck me was the huge “Redlands” sign. I had no idea that they had changed their name. I was immediately hesitant to enter because I didn’t know what to expect. But I was already there and out of my car so what the heck!
The menu seemed to be very similar if not exactly the same from what I remember. The bartender assured me that J Alexanders was still the parent company and the quality was still the same. I was still skeptical until my prime rib arrived. It was heavenly! Just as good as I remember. Maybe some of the best I’ve ever had. This alone was worth the drive from Marietta! I would be remiss to not mention the bbq chicken flatbread (pizza) was delicious as well as the carrot cake which should be illegal it was so good. Service was great also. Wish I lived closer. We will be back!
Continuously impressed with the quality of this building. My food, my service, and the atmosphere are genuinely top notch. Some of the best in Atlanta
Great service and quality meals. We came for brunch and ordered the salads. Delicious as always! Highly recommended.
Let me start off by saying we’ve been to several restaurants in the Atlanta area and I normally order steaks. My wife & I went to J Alexanders for our 22nd anniversary of dating, she ordered the Marinated Ribeye & I ordered the NY Strip (both medium well). While the marinade on the ribeye was tasty, it was average at best. On the other hand, my Strip was just awful. It tasted like raw hamburger meat so I asked if they could cook it longer and they did but it didn’t matter; it was just a bad steak. No flavor, no taste, no seasoning, & wasn’t helped with steak sauce. I’ve had better steaks at Applebees (2 for $20) when I was a teenager. We won’t be returning customers, regardless if this was a one off or not. I can’t afford to toss away $45 (tax & tip) on a hope that they have better cuts of steaks.
Overall, good experience. Service was subpar. The waitress was not quick with getting water for our large party of ten and had to be asked frequently to bring more. She rarely attended the table and forgot multiple requests. The food was incredible and the ambience was nice.
Sat at the bar today, great service and some delicious cocktails. Will be back for sure!
I had a huge piece of Halibut off the grill with a cream sauce and a few fried shrimp on top. It was fantastic. The wife had crab cakes minus the spicy chipotle mayo (she doesn’t do spicy)and she loved them. Great seafood options this far away from the coast. Best part is the portions are big enough that we always have leftovers the next day. Kudos!
Well, this is our go to spot for a Friday night.
Always on point, service particularly good tonight.
Less robotic, more personal, always timely.
Overall impression at the table was just ok. There was nothing memorable about the food, particularly the steaks which at least people at the table ordered in different cuts. When two people at the table ordered the same glass of wine we would have expected the waiter to suggest a bottle.
Wonderful service, wonderful food. My wife had the grilled Striped Bass and I had the Crab Cakes. Both were fantastic.
Always enjoy everything about J. Alexander’s-Redlands. Good food, nice ambience, jazz music playing at appropriate levels in the background, and awesome service.
I live the Thai Kai salad! It’s the best thing ever! Please please please ever take that off the menu!
Great restaurant, friendly staff and the best key lime pie.
Great service, we needed for nothing. The menu is pretty straight forward. They are not breaking down any new culinary frontiers but we continue to go back because it is consistent. And that is sooo hard to find nowadays.
THE STAFF WAS EXCELLENT. THE RESTAURANT MANAGER CAME OVER TO OUR TABLE TO INTRODUCE HIMSELF. THAT IS THE SIGN OF A GREAT RESTAURANT!
This is our favorite local restaurant but tonight it was a little less than what we normally expect. Service was slow and they screwed up my wife’s order twice.
Great lunch as always, the barbecue flatbread is amazing!
I was very disappointed to discover that the restaurant has just changed their sandwich buns. The previous ones were soft and not too thick. Good proportion of bread to meat. Now the buns are thick, not as soft and too much bread for the sandwich.
Also, when I used the ladies’ room, the stall I entered had no toilet paper and there was 1/4 to 1/2 inch of water on the floor where the pipe was leaking. Not a pleasant experience..
We have always had great food, outstanding service and an enjoyable experience here. We are hoping this was just an aberration.
Server (Mary) was great and very personable!
It is so loud, it's almost impossible to have a conversation. I was also disappointed that the crab cakes were no longer on the menu.
Had a late lunch business meal, service was attentive without being pushy. Server was always there with a refill but let us talk about business. It was refreshing because most servers don’t understand how a business lunch should go. They seem to get it here.
Food was also very good. We had fish tacos (asked for it grilled and they accommodated) and my business associate had a very large Thai salad that he enjoyed.
The young lady that waited on us was fantastic. She was very attentive and professional. She helped us with our selections and made some suggestions. She was awesome
Food was delish! Had the pork tenderloin...very tasty!
I really enjoy the huge portions! Always have leftovers for lunch the next day.
Phenomenal meal! I had grouper Vera-cruise and it was superb. I subbed out the normal side for rainbow chard and it had a wonderful Asian flavor (little sweet, little spicy). Love it. My guest had a kale salad and he loved it.
Great place to entertain clients.
We had a 7:30 res, had to wait more than 30 min to be seated. Service seems to be declining a bit, but Danielle saved the night!
This restaurant has long been one of our favorites. We have been in as often as possible
Very pleasant lunch with an old friend. Service was great and the food was so good that I ordered takeout for my wife who was not able to join us. I had the fish tacos which were excellent. My lunch mate mistakenly went to the Dunwoody location so I was alone for a long while. My server was very accommodating and did not hound me.
My first time here at J. Alexander. Very nice place, clean and great hospitality. Food was hot which is a major plus. The only down side was our waiter I had to remind her twice about my drink which was a soda. She wasn’t attentive until we were about to pay the bill. We have her a 20% tip. Overall, great place for a special or any occasion.
Customer service at the restaurant on Valentine's Day was awesome. Our server Danielle has to be one of the best. Her attentiveness to our table was superb. I would definitely recommend doing the reservations they also seat you quickly. Overall , it was an awesome experience.
We did have to wait a while, even with the reservation, but it was Valentine's Day, and we did actually get there just under five minutes past our scheduled time. Once we were seated the night went well, and the food was delicious, as expected. I would definitely go again on a less hectic night.
Special occasion, party of eight. Everyone ordered something different. All extremely pleased with food quality, timing of service, quality of staff, and ambience. As for me --- best prime rib I've had in a long, long time.
We arrived and were immediately taken to our waiting table as we had made a reservation. The food and the ambience were great and our service person, Ruby, was very attentive! The food was prepared and served to us quickly after ordering and it was ABSOLUTELY delicious!
Have been to J. Alexander's many times - usually the food is very good - was a little disappointed this last time - I got the rib eye - it was thin and over cooked - not worth $35 - but I will go back - the drinks are really good and creative.
We like the consistency of J. Alexanders/Redlands Grill. If there's every a slight misstep with the food, they are always very responsive. A lot of the servers have been there for a a long time and it's nice to see the same faces. We had William on Friday and he was thoroughly professional as always.
We enjoyed everything right up until the coffee we ordered for after lunch. It was old and burned tasting.
