J. Alexander's - Redlands Grill - Denver Ratings and Reviews
EXCELLENT ...Much like Houstons or Cherry Creek Grill....cozy atmosphere, very attentive service, grilled ARTICHOKES!!!!...great deviled eggs, everything was outstanding!...we needed this type of restaurant in the southern 'burbs'...I'll be back...the bar looked inviting too and entire staff was great! I'm a 35 year Marriott exec and a tough critic...5 stars here!
Filets were a little under-cooked for medium but were of high quality. Salmon was perfect at medium well. We enjoyed catching up with friends. Didn't feel pressured to leave our table. Excellent service and the carrot cake we shared for dessert was to die for! Has been our goto restaurant for years! It's always great!!!
I always get the same thing to eat and drink when I go here, and it's always good. I was surprised at how many children were in the restaurant. My friend and I went to get away from the kids for a nice dinner, so that was a little disappointing to sit near crying kids. In hindsight, we could have sat in the bar but I enjoy the ambiance of the dining area.
Lovely evening. Great food, great service, nice ambiance. The 2011 Franciscan Magnificat was a little young and ‘hot’. Needs a few more years in the cellar. Our choice to try it. We have a couple bottles of the 2011 in our own cellar and we were curious to try it. We’ll leave ours be for a couple more years.
It's not easy eating out on New Year's Eve, but the restaurant did very well! We liked our waiter, Grant, who did a great job. I ordered something different. I had the Red Snapper. It was fabulous, and Grant made sure there was nothing gluten on my plate after I mentioned I was gluten-free. We even took home extra herbed butter. VERY nice!
I had a filet mignon I ordered well done. The size of the steak was ridiculously small. I mentioned it to my waitresses and she didn't seem to care, and offered a weak excuse. The taste of your food is good but if you want grown men to eat at your restaurant you should have adult size food. There for I would not recommend your restaurant to anyone that is hungry.
It was a great evening, and a great way to celebrate Christmas Eve as a family. We chose Redlands because we have always enjoyed our evenings there on any occasion. As a side note, the service on Christmas Eve extremely attentive, especially for how busy the restaurant was in general. And the new sushi menu is great, and the presentation was excellent. Thanks for making our family Christmas Eve dinner a great experience.
Our family had the chicken tenders and the rotisserie chicken. Our son's tenders were cold and had to be returned; the rotisserie chicken was superb. The Redlands side salad is simply the best salad we've ever had and we loved it, as always. The carrot cake for dessert is now a smaller slice but as fantastic as ever. Redlands (formerly J Alexanders) has fallen off in recent years (we've been coming for about 12 years) and the quality of the beef no longer warrants the price so that's why we opted for chicken. But the real puzzle about this restaurant is the wait staff. This night we had three--count them--three waiters serving us and none of them could get things to us in a hot and timely fashion. Why does it take three waiters to serve one table and still not provide good service?AND THE WORST OF ALL: the wait staff at this restaurant is consistently snobby and rude! We still come back because the food is so good.
I am a long time customer of J. Alexander's.
I met my step-daughter at the restaurant for a holiday dinner. As usual, the food was excellent. However, this evening, the service did not measure up to the restaurant's high standards. Our waiter kept us waiting throughout the dining experience. Once we resorted to asking another member of the wait staff to go get him. When he delivered our meal, he neglected to check the product, chicken salads, which were missing the meat. He apologized several times but never offered to make any adjustment to the bill or notify management.
When the bill was presented, I asked to speak with a manager. To her credit, the manager apologized and immediately comped the entire bill. Getting a free meal was not my objective. Having an enjoyable time at a favorite restaurant, with my step-daughter was the goal.
I consider this experience to be unique and not typical of the great food and excellent service that I'm used to at J. Alexander's.
I don't know what gave rise to the poor service on this particular night but, kudos to the manager for her prompt action to mitigate the damage.
I will continue to dine at J. Alexander's and recommend the restaurant to my friends.
