YUM! YUM!!! YUM!!!! Those are the three words that come to mind whenever I think of J Alexanders.
This restaurant continues to be at the top of the food chain (pun intended!)
The mac and cheese is the food of the gods. In fact, I am jonesing for some right now just writing about it! I challenge anyone to find a better mac & cheese anywhere in the city. It is absolutely phenomenal.
The steaks are honestly some of my favorite in Atlanta. Ask for the off menu Cajun spices on the ribeye, New York strip, or prime rib. They are delciious! And the calamari and chicken tenders are wonderful!!
Speaking of off menu, don't forget to ask for the "off menu" complementary sourdough bread. They will even toast it for you and serve it with some delicious garlic butter.
I've never had a bad piece of fish here. It is usually scrumptious AND a very large portion of fish. One of my biggest pet peeves when ordering fish is the size. For some reason, many restaurants think a small 6 ounce piece of fish can fill up a normal human adult. But it takes more than a tiny piece of fish to fill me up!
Some other highlights include the fantastic chili, which is served on Saturday night. The crabcakes are quite solid, and the French fries are some of the best in Atlanta. If they don't put spices on them, be sure to request it!!!
The Alex's salad is one of my favorite salads. You can get it with the house made cilantro vinaigrette dressing which is good enough to drink by the bucket.
Aliyah and Keiarra will take excellent care of you and give you A+ service!
Please be aware that they are not set up to accommodate extremely large groups unless you are OK sitting at separate tables.
They accept reservations on OpenTable even though many people appear to come in and simply get on a waiting list.
See you there!!!
We are regular attenders and must say we were disappointed with the service we experienced this week.
Ashley was just great Friends had a great time at a perfect table
We chose J Alexander's for my birthday for the great food and service, and the both exceeded expectations. The staff gladly accommodated our party of 7. The wait staff took amazing care of us. Food tasted exceptional as usual. Prime Rib, Scallops, spinach cheese dip, egg rolls, carrot cake, freaking amazing.
Great service and a great meal. Really enjoyed the salads and the Grouper
Eat here alot. In the neighborhood. This might have been THE BEST ever. Salmon was delicious. It and the roasted brussels sprouts were prepared and cooked to perfection.
Great food and service as always! I used to live near Chattanooga, TN and visit that location on a regular basis. This is the first time I've been since living in Atlanta and it was great!
Let me start by saying the use to be phenomenal as I celebrated all major functions there (engagement , bday, wedding night). This once was a restaurant that represented quality. The customer service that we experienced today was by far the worst I have ever had. They now have inexperienced cooks, poor management, and a horrible disposition. Since when are managers not allowed to comp meals or give percentages off the ticket. Not only did my meal have to get made twice still not to my liking only to have the manager tell me that my marinated steak would not be red due to the marinade. Mind you that I come to this restaurant about 1-2 times per month and order the same meal every time. So the bill gets to my table not only was I unable to eat with my family but nothing is being done to ease the situation regarding my meal and inconvenience. Which leads to The manager Wintana Mehari who needs to be terminated immediately. Not only did she come to my table not knowing the details but she never apologized. Additionally, she reached over my food and lied. Do yourself a favor and stay away.
The food was good, but the service sucked. The waitress took forever to come over and we had to ask the manager to bring the check because she couldn’t bring it
Enjoyed a long lunch with friends. Server was fantastic and understood that we wanted to chat...hence our reason to plan a 2:00 lunch. I had salad which was ok...not fantastic. The best part was that we sat there for 3-1/2 hours and left as dinner crowd arrived and server was so understanding. They were not super crowded so we did not impact her ability to turn the table.
