They ran out of soup and the salmon dip and it was only 6pm on a Sunday evening. The food was okay. The dessert was good.

Made a reservation @2:30 for 10 for dinner after funeral. Stopped by 4 hours in advance to check on seating and to order appetizers to be served soon after arrival. Manager said they would take care of everything. We arrived and the table wasn’t available until 3. Ordered appetizers were not served and when we ordered again, after several minutes were told one wasn’t available. Sever was overwhelmed, because she had several other tables. After about 45 minutes our food order was taken. Food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. Had asked to speak to manager, but he never came to table. When I left table to seek him out, he was not apologetic, just offered excuses. He said he was told that we wanted to speak to him , but didn’t come by...was going to bring check and take off the two appetizers. Bottom line, the restaurant can’t handle a crowd at large table and manager needs training in service recovery.

The food from the brunch menu was very good and good value. We will be back bc of the food. Service seemed to be ok around the restaurant but our particular server was hard to find / had to have someone else try to find her for check.

The food was great, especially the Calamari, PHENOMENSAL! the service was excellent and the bourbon was on point. It was just one of those kind of evenings.

I will return again and recommend this restaurant to my friends and family.

Very surprised that for special occasions they don't give a dessert with a candle.
Not going there for birthday or anniversary.

Wife and I stopped in on a Sunday for brunch. I had the Eggs Benedict with added grilled tomato and avocado. It was excellent. My wife had quiche and a salad. The quiche slice was huge and also very tasty. Good food, good service, great value!

This is a very good restaurant with a great variety of cuisine. The meals at our table included the rotisserie chicken, filet, prime rib, and pork loin. These are all quality choices, and through the years we have all tried the majority of items on the menu. Everything here is great and definitely would recommend to a friend. Will continue to dine here for years to come!

The food was incredible as always. I've told my wife for years that she should try their mac n cheese ... it's the best. We were finally in town for a date night and decided to give it a go. She ordered the roasted chicken and I had the rainbow trout. We shared sides (including that amazing mac and cheese). We also split a delicious dessert. Not a single complaint on the food. We left fat as ticks and very satisfied with the food. Our only issue was the service level. It was not the usually top service I get there. I had subbed the mac and cheese but still received the cole slaw with my order (their slaw isn't good at all and a main reason for coming was the mac and cheese). When our food was delivered, I immediately told the person of the mistake. After 10 minutes, we had still not seen our server. I was well paste halfway done with our meal when she finally showed up to ask if everything was okay. I explained our glasses were empty (she should have realized that alone makes things "not okay") as well as still waiting on the mac and cheese. It was delivered 5 minutes later by a chef who apologized for the mishap. So for this visit, they get a "fair" on the service, but we had no regrets going there. Again, the food was amazing. The chicken had crispy skin and still very juicy on the inside; that's not easy to do. My trout wasn't overcooked (a common problem with thin fish). My wife went on and on about how perfect the baked potato was. So overall, it was a great meal ... with one blemish.

The food is great. However, with a party of 6 they really can't accommodate well. We were put at a U shaped booth with one chair in the aisle. Not a pleasant setup. The table top is small while the plate are huge not making for a comfortable fit.
I would not recommend going for parties of more than 4

We attended J. Alexander's for my wife's Birthday dinner on Sunday evening. We were seated promptly as the restaurant was not full. We were greeted and the service got off to a good start.

As usual, the food was really good and we all ate casually. Burgers and sandwiches. My side Caesar was wonderful. food delivery was a tad slow, again, considering the lack of a full turn of tables.

This is where the overall experience at J. Alexander's goes south more times than not. We got through our meal, and the wait team was slow to come and approach to clear off plates. We were not going to have dessert, so getting an offer for dessert was not a deal breaker for us. what was lacking, yet again, was the quick delivery of the check, and the subsequent pick up of our check and card for payment.

At this time the restaurant was half empty and as several diners note in their reviews, the wait team was behind the glass prepping linens and silverware for future table settings rather than focusing on the tables that were full. I actually had to summon one of the hostesses who was delivering a chair to another table to get her to alert our waitress that we were more than ready for our check.

It is this lack of overall service detail that drives me crazy about this place given the prices seem to creep up... my prime rib sandwich has now reached $20 and is not a good deal as the portion has been diminished as well.

What I love about J Alexanders restaurants is that all of the servers help each other out. This was debatable at this location. Service is very professional and polite, but unfortunately, speed of service needs some work. There were maybe 3 other tables, and the servers just seemed to be standing around. It took a while for us to be greeted and for our orders for our entrees to be taken. We asked for the sourdough bread and it took a while, to the point that we were looking around for someone, anyone to notice that we needed assistance. Food prices are pretty reasonable, especially considering the huge portion sizes. We ordered 3 entrees for 4 people and we took plenty of food home with us. Atmosphere is quiet and casual. Overall, I would recommend this place for a date or business meal. I probably wouldn't come here on the regular though.

The food is always outstanding at J Alexanders. I frequent the location in Michigan where I am from often. This visit was a business meal and it did not disappoint. The server was excellent. My client is a vegan and she recommended items on the menu to meet his food lifestyle.

This was a last minute get-together of five friends. I made a reservation using the Open Table app and it was flawless. The staff was very accommodating, professional and friendly. The food was good and when one diner stated that the fries were a bit too salty they were immediately replaced without drama. We’ll be back. Thanks to all for a great experience.

The food was delicious. Proper portions and temp and overall appearance where exactly what I was expecting. However, and I don’t blame the server, but in today’s times we are loosing true customer service. The server was not very outgoing or knowledgeable. The server seemed to have a problem with memorizing the orders and what we asked for. The server forgot about our soup. Asked if our starter was ok, I made the comment if just wasn’t what I was expecting, that would’ve been a good time to offer a solution, I’m not the kind of person to be disgruntled in front of others or belittle my server. Very prompt to bring check although we were clearly enjoying coffee and dessert and would’ve stayed a little longer. May just need to brush up on customer service skill set. For the pricing and atmosphere I was expecting more from my server. Thank you for reading and implementing any ideas.

We loved it. It was our second time, and the "most difficult" part of the meal was choosing from so many wonderful possibilities! And we couldn't pull ourselves away our favorites - the steak frites for my wife, and the salmon with wild rice and orzo for myself - they're just too good! Oh well, I guess we'll just have to go back soon to try more of the menu... ;)

I have been coming to J Alexander's for years but this time i brought my boyfriend and 2 of our friends. They had never been here before and the 2 guys are very picky about food. Everyone loved it! My boyfriend said the ribs were better than Tony Roma's. My bestie fell in love with the lemon drop just like I did. We will definitely be back many times in the future. The service and food are consistently great!!

I usually enjoy J Alexanders, but was disappointed in the fact that I requested a booth by the window, and that was overlooked until I asked about it as they took us to a very noisy seat next to the bar. The handcrafted Lemon Drop was watery and not up to par. Very disappointing for both of us.
