J. Alexander's - Chattanooga Ratings and Reviews
JA's has become one of my favorite restaurants here in Chattanooga. I usually leave an excellent review, but this time it was extremely loud in the restaurant. There was a lady that I'm sure had consumed a bit too much alcohol she yelled out obscenities during our time there. I forgot to mention when we arrived a guy stumbled out of the bat area & needed help getting an uber. This was the first bad experience & hopefully the last.
This was a birthday dinner for my husband. J Alexander’s is his favorite restaurant here in Chattanooga. There were 8 of our good friends with us. We brought in a chocolate cake & the server was kind enough to take it to kitchen & deliver to our table with candles lit. Everyone had a delicious meal & a wonderful time!’
I have been a customer of J Alexander for a long time and usually it is great, but this time was noisy and seemed like we were crowded and had trouble hearing because of the noise. The wait staff seemed to be over overworked and it showed. I will still be a customer of the establishment but I guess we need to pick another time, maybe later. Overall the food was the same great food we have always had, just too much of it.
All in all it was a nice evening and all four of us enjoyed our food. Our server was not into giving good service. She could not keep anything straight. She kept mixing our orders up all the way to giving us the wrong checks. I really don’t think she had her her mind in her work.
I was also disappointed in the salad not being included with the meal. And your menu isn’t what I remember it being.
The hostess seated us and as she was giving us our menus, she informed us that they had a large party coming in at 6:30 and they would need our table to accommodate them. The restaurant was not that busy and there were plenty of other places we could have been seated. I thought this was very rude. We informed the manager and she said she would speak with the hostess. There were a couple more issues but that was the worst to me.
Me and my wife went to J. Alexander’s for our 25th anniversary I made reservations for 6:00 . Let me start by saying when someone makes reservations for there anniversary you should probably try sitting them somewhere where there is not a lot of traffic instead they sat us on the main walkway in the whole restaurant when they had planning of sitting elsewhere anyway. J. Alexander’s has a nice romantic feel to it we were seated in a booth big enough to seat 6 people for some reason. We met our server her name was Avoni not sure if I spelt it right but anyway she was great!!! She took our drink orders and suggested the spinach dip she was right it was great. My wife ordered the salmon it was great. I order the fillet the most expensive steak on the menu I ordered it medium it came out well done the first time. The second time the manager brought it out and again it was well done I tried to eat it and it tasted like beef jerky with no flavor the manager saw how donee it was we could tell he was embarrassed. So he and avoni took special care of use the rest of the night and made me and my wife feel very special it made the rest of the night great thanks to management and staff for a great time!!!
Deviled eggs super. House salad excellent. Steak medallions--hmm. Beef was excellent; however, the vegetables were not the best. For example, the wedges were cut from onions & peppers that were too large so the wedges were not sweet. Rice comes with the kabobs & it was mushy! I asked for more rice & it came out quickly; it was better but still needed improvement.
The service was super, speedy and best we experience in many visits.
A little pricey but you get what you pay for! Great food exceptional service. Reservation time was dead on to the minute, I was presently suprised. Waitress was there when needed but not intrusive, was a professional in every regard. Planning to return soon, highly recommend.
They were running behind on reservations but were very apologetic and provided a free appetizer when we sat down. Several came by to ensure our experience was great
We dine here often with reservations and this is the first time they have been behind. Typically we are seated immediately
Food very good. Server good. Busy Friday evening so felt like the server was rushing us just to turn over the table. Had reservations for 5:45pm to allow time to make 7:10pm movie. Hostess didn’t seat us until 6:05pm and wasn’t apologetic. Didn’t seem to value customers who plan ahead.
We went to the J Alexanders on Hamilton Place Blvd in Chattanooga for our anniversary and it was great. The service was outstanding and our server, Destiny, was great. She was not pushy but was there to address every need as the meal progressed. The food was wonderful and they adjusted the menu to comply with my food allergy requirement. The experience was great and we would wholeheartedly recommend this establishment.
