Brunch: Saturday & Sunday: 11:00am - 3:00pm
The place was great and the service was awesome. Julian did a great job and we will definitely be going back
Delicious food. Service was okay.
I brought my dad here for Fathers Day we had a reservation and was 5 min late, they held reservation, gave us table upstairs...Service was fast & efficient, food was delicious and dessert to die for! We even took food home for my son he gave 5* stars...This was 1st visit & will definitely be back!
The noise level was a bit much. We had a hard time hearing each other. I understand since it was Father’s Day there were a lot of people there so perhaps it’s not always so loud. Also wish there were more vegan options. The veggie burger was fine but would have liked something more interesting to eat. The men liked their prime rib and fish...however my vegan daughter and I found the place just ok food wise. The waiter was top notch.
Food was excellent and decor was nice. The waiter that I had took the orders and delivered as expected but was not very personable during our dinning experience. I will still patron this establishment because of the quality of food.
Loved everything. We attend most Sundays. Father's Day it was very warm.
Booking through open table made this really easy. We were seated immediately. The service was very quick and responsive. They need to get a lot more higher end beer options to keep up with other nearby restaurants but had several cocktail options. There is a lot of food with every portion. We had to ask for more chips to make it through the peminto cheese dip.
We had the shrimp appetizer with bang bang sauce and the house salad. The food was good, however the people seated at the three booths across from us were so loud we could not hear each other talking. That in itself made for a poor place to have dinner. The restaurant in general is too loud, but this was exceptionally loud.
Great dinner on a Friday night. My wife had the crab cakes and I had steak and fries. My steak was ordered medium rare but was overcooked - medium well (no pink at all). However, with the garlic and butter it was still very good. The carrot cake and coffee was a great finish to the meal. Aside from the steak (which was surprisingly still good) the meal was great.
J Alexander’s is one of my favorite restaurants in Chattanooga. Cherry was our server and she gave us exceptional service. I have always been impressed with the level of service given. J Alexander’s delivers above and beyond every single time. The carrot cake is to die for.
J. Alexander’s is one of our favorite restaurants in Chattanooga! The service and food are consistently good.
J. Alexander’s is one of our favorite restaurants in Chattanooga! The service and food are consistently exceptional! The noise level is too high, but the atmosphere is great!
It was awesome as always!!
Atmosphere was great. The candlelit tables were intimate. The restaurant was oddly loud for such a formal environment. The food was good, but normal sides are offered at extra cost.
The only 'negative' I would have is the noise level. I don't like to complain about a place being energetic, but we had in mind more of a quiet date night. Service was fantastic, the food was simply great.
I will keep in mind for the next date night, but overall, couldn't ask for much more... kudos
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary her last year and just loved it. Unfortunately, the recent visit left us very disappointed. The steak was not cooked to taste at all. Probably won’t be going back.
J. Alexander’s is one of the more physically attractive dining options in Chattanooga, TN. The service ranks very highly and on every visit servers have been professional and efficient. The menu is not expansive but adequate though a bit pricy. For example, Halibut was around ~ $34. BTW...the signature mushroom soup is delicious and worth a trip. Do check first though as it’s only available on certain days.
We have eaten here several times. On each visit everything that we ordered was prepared and presented well and was tasty.
We do find the main dining room too dark. Not certain why management keeps this space so under lit even at lunch.
One other issue that is significant is the noise. An open kitchen is at one end of the restaurant. The activity there is loud and that noise flows right into the dining area. Conversation is hard in most areas but gets really difficult the closer one sits to the kitchen.
There are not a ton of options for finer dining in Chattanooga. However, if the daytime lighting was bumped up a couple notches and the noise issue addressed J. Alexander’s would definitely be a contender.
Cheap ingredients from Sysco or PFG.
Unknown source of meat. No information if beef is grassfed or organic was available.
Fantastic as usual!! Food is great and so is the service.
J Alexanders is always a five star restaurant. Great food, service and value.
Everything was just perfect
The food, as usual, was wonderful. My family and I enjoyed our meal after attending a graduation ceremony. As the manager knew we were celebrating a special occasion, they comped our desserts. Nice touches like this, in addition to many other outstanding qualities, are why we will continue to eat at J. Alexander's.
The food and service are always very good but pricey.
This is our second time at this location (now our home town one) and third overall at the chain--it is CONSISTENTLY superb in EVERY way. Well groomed, well trained, gracious servers...delicious and well-prepared food done right...great cocktails, welcoming atmosphere. You cannot go wrong here. FYI, the prime rib is the best we've had lately at any restaurant, the fried "Emerald Shrimp" are light and crisp and delicious, the caesar salad is first rate with great little cornbread croutons, and again, everything is done JUST right every time. Just GO!
We were traveling. We have eaten at JD's before and like the food and ambiance. Made a reservation so we could get in and out. Great place to eat. It was noisier than i would have liked but easy to overlook.
Tricia was great, and to food was excellent. I would definitely go back.
First time there for anniversary and it was the best choice I could gave made. Everything that we had was excellent will definitely be going back again. Derek our waiter was nice friendly and very polite and helpful on selections.
Good food. Good service. Really loud.
Our experience was very enjoyable both the quality of the Service as well as the food. We highly recommend the experience.
It was really nice! Extremely hot and dark where we sat today! The food was great and the service was good...they were about 30mins slow in the beginning 🙃. Chocolate was great as always!
It was a Mother’s Day outing with my three children. We enjoyed ourselves and will return.
Service was excellent, food good, overall positive experience
I took my 90-year-old mother to lunch for Mother's Day. Usually the food is very good but it just didn't seem to have great taste it normally has. We had Mr. Jack's Chicken Platter and the chicken was not as good as it has been in the past. My baked potato tasted was stale (that's the only way I know how to describe it) . Although it was freshly baked the potato seemed to be old.
The unsweetened Iced tea had an odd taste and it didn't taste like it had been brewed long enough. It was disappointing because usually the food is delicious.
My husband and I were there for our anniversary. They give you a free dessert for anniversaries which is a nice touch. The waiters and waitresses are great. They definitely go the extra mile.
food was good but waaaay over priced ! nice atmosphere beautiful clean restraunt.
Only complaint, the food wasn’t cooked to preference.
My 45th bday. No place I’d rather eat for my bday. We come at least once a month and tonight was fabulous as always. Thanks for my dessert!!
