J. Alexander's - Chattanooga Ratings and Reviews
We went to the J Alexanders on Hamilton Place Blvd in Chattanooga for our anniversary and it was great. The service was outstanding and our server, Destiny, was great. She was not pushy but was there to address every need as the meal progressed. The food was wonderful and they adjusted the menu to comply with my food allergy requirement. The experience was great and we would wholeheartedly recommend this establishment.
I decided to make a reservation online, and saw the option for special event. It was our wedding anniversary, so I selected that. After we were seated, the manager came and delivered a hand-written note wishing us a Happy Anniversary and gifting us a free dessert. Next, they brought 2 glasses of champagne, also on the house. The cocktails were yummy, and a large quantity. The food was amazing! But the best part was the carrot cake. We will definitely be back!
Got a table the day before New Years and sat down with 3 others at the bar. Only had 20 minute wait for our table which gave us plenty of time for a cocktail. Tito's dirty martini's with hand-stuff blue cheese olives were excellent.
We sat down at our table and our server was Ethan. He did an admirable job. 3 of the 4 had the filet mignon with Bearnaise which was done very well. The tomato side dish was a bit of a mess, but the red cabbage was well done.
J. Alexander's is always a go-to place when I have clients in town. It's an easy trip from Ooltewah without the hassle of driving downtown.
This was the worst experience we have had at this restaurant and total waste of $250.00
We waited for about 30 minutes after our reservation time to be seated. The waitress could not open a bottle of wine properly and didn't inform us the kitchen was out of items until we had ordered them. After three tries at an appetizer we just gave up and went straight to the entrees which were mediocre at best. The server was less than helpful and even made sarcastic remarks to us. She did not deserve the 20% gratuity that was left to her. There are plenty of other restaurants in Chattanooga for a nice dinner.
Reservation was for 5, 1 was a 4 year old. Table was available on time. Wait staff was exceptional and they made sure the 4 year old was satisfied. When appetizer arrived I found my silverware to not be clean, reported it and was replaced immediately with no excuses. Manager came over soon and offered a second appetizer and paid for both. He was apologetic and said it should not have happened. They will address in additional employee training. Food was fantastic and overall experience was just right.
We had a reservation for 6 people, and had a specific request for a table rather than a booth. The staff were very accommodating, however, the only table that would fit us was tied up with the previous guests for an hour after they had already paid their bill. The staff was very apologetic and offered us the first available booth unfortunately it would not be big enough , plus provided appetizers and drinks to us in the waiting space while we waited for the table to come available. We eventually had to be seated in another area that they rearranged to be more suitable for us, but again they were extremely apologetic and very accomodating in every way. The service was exceptional as well as the food. No fault to anyone but the inconsiderate people tying up the table for an hour after they had finished and paid.
As always my dining experience was amazing. Your glass never goes below half full, the wait staff always goes above and beyond. I highly recommend this Resturant to anyone looking for a fine dining experience. I will also add I do take my small son in because he is very well mannered and they do have a “secret kid menu”
Perfect as always. The staff at J. Alexander's are pure perfection when it comes to taking care of their guests and the food is second to none. We always love visiting J. Alexanders. I HIGHLY recommend the Alex salad with the champagne vinaigrette. Delicious!
This used to be my favorite restaurant. Maybe they were having an off night but based on the dinner there on this date I wouldn’t go back. We ordered the emerald coast shrimp. The fryer was not working so we were offered grilled shrimp instead which we said yes to expecting regular size grilled skewered shrimp. We got miniature sautéed shrimp which did not look at all appetizing. The prime rib is usually awesome. It was dry and not much taste. The cocktail was mostly melted ice. Overall a disappointing experience this time.
