We love Izzy's for a mid-week dinner usually having their special soup of the evening and sharing an omelet. Everything is very good and the staff are very accommodating. An inexpensive dinner!
Food was very good and the portions extremely large. Food service was a little on the slow side, but not unbearable.
The food was good and the service fine. However the prices were way too high - up to $19 for a sandwich with potato salad! My Rueben was $16.
What can I say about the Iz? We bring our 83 year old mother in law here every week for a lunch, she loves it and the servers are very accommodating to our needs. Is the food great? Eh, no - but it’s good solid NY deli fare. Is it cheap? Again, no - but it’s always open and has free parking. Overall a reliable and filling experience. Thx Izzy.
Good, friendly, fast service
Generous portions. Great service. Sandwiches served dry, so before you take a bite, dress it. Classic deli with dated decor and high prices. But worth it.
Solid and dependable! Been going for years and it never disappoints. By far the best deli on the West side.
Everyone working there were very friendly and helpful the day we were there. Made for a very pleasant dinner.
Our server Juan was the ultimate. He made our experience even better. Food was outstanding as usual.
Great for a large group. Service is good, space is comfortable, and there are a lot of options on the large menu.
The food and drinks are way overpriced. Not worth it.
Mother’s Day brunch, low key. Tostada was interesting but the Ruben was a hit.
Their Reuben sandwich is large and delicious. We took some home and enjoyed it later. Service was very good.
Very good selection.
This was the best place on the west side that could accommodate 7 people at a low or moderate noise level and a varied menu. Being a vegetarian, I didn't have a lot of food choices, but had the veggie burger which was large on bun and slim on burger. It wasn't terrible, but I wouldn't recommend it. Luckily I was there to get together with friends and food wasn't as important. For meat eaters, the menu looked great and everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals-- ample portions-- several people had doggie bags to go. The service was warm and friendly-- we were there almost 3 hours without feeling rushed, even at lunch on a holiday weekend.
The noisiest restaurant I have been in the last few years.
there is usually no host or hostess present to provide open table credit!
A good solid family style deli, no pretensions, can be a bit loud with the kids but that is to be expected.
After 30+ years on the road, this was the best Reuben sandwich I've ever had. Service was prompt and friendly. Food quality was outstanding. Can't wait to go back.
Excellent place to go for late nite or post theater snack or dinner. Food was really good and everyone there - including hostess and waitstaff was friendly and helpful. Definitely will return when in Santa Monica.
Traditional Jewish deli! Love the food! The service was top notch as well.
Always the best place to get deli on the west side of Los Angeles. I've never had a bad meal. A great neighborhood gem.
This deli seemed like a good place to meet with friends but, unfortunately, their kitchen had the amazing ability to make even the simplest of foods taste mediocre - from coleslaw to ministrone soup. None of our party of seven would go back there.
It's a classic for a reason. They're great here, & know how to make solid Jewish comfort food!
We had a Mother's Day brunch reserved at the Ritz Marina del Rey, but they lost our reservation. Izzy's fed us and we had a great time! Delicious waffles. We will definitely go back.
Overall we like Izzy's, the service, food, and quality are decent and we appreciate it being a 24 hour establishment. My girl and I were looking for a place that was opened late for a meal in the Santa Monica area.
We made an Open Table reservation for 8PM and upon arrival we let the hostess know that we had made the reservation. Although the restaurant wasn't really busy we wanted her to know that we were using Open Table. The lady seemed to be distracted while on the phone and motioned for us to sit wherever we wanted. We sat down because Open Table was an incentive to choose Izzy's but not the only reason we went to the restaurant. It was obvious that the young lady that was at the front counter was already mentally clocked out because she seemed disinterested in giving us a great initial impression. I don't expect anyone to bend over backwards but I hope you treat me as you would want to be treated.
Once we sat we were pleasantly greeted by a waiter. I forgot the waiter's name (he seems to work a later shift), but he was exceptional! He was super attentive and gave some good recommendations. He kept the water coming (I'm simple, as long as water is flowing I'm happy) and overall exemplified and redeemed our expectations of Izzy's.
The place is good...your typical deli fare but the Art’s Roast Turkey sandwich with fries, coleslaw, and a pickle was ridiculous! My gf had a grilled cheese and macaroni. We were both satisfied with our food and ended up over-indulging : ( The deli items are relatively pricey but the portions and quality warrant the prices.
We eventually got our Open Table points after my gf let it be known to the next hostess. The point of my overall review is to say that I like Izzy's for the Black and White cookies alone. Everything else is a bonus.
It wasn't horrible, but I've had much better food at other deli's. The service was very good, people were friendly. Valet parking was free and very convenient to use. For me, though, the service and easy parking does not make up for the food.
Good food, good value, friendly service, best matzah ball soup
Restaurant did not honor open table reservation This is baloney. It is the best west of the 405, but that is not saying much. Nate n Al's in Beverly HIlls is twice the restaurant
We were here on a cold Christmas Eve and the hot lentil soup really hit the spot. So good, in fact, we took a pint to go. The lox/eggs/onions tasted delicious and the potato pancakes were crisp and tasty. The friendly service was the icing on the cake. It's a California deli to be sure but one of the best!
This Deli has Everything that a deli should have. Its better than good, sandwiches are bigger than anyone could eat. Look at the menu and you'll be amazed...and everything is great.
An old pal and I have hit on a new excuse to hang out. We are on a Quest To Find The Perfect Pastrami Sandwich! It has proven to be a WONDERFUL excuse, because the nicest thing about bad pastrami is that it is still passtrami! Anyway, Izzy's, a Santa Monica institution, has a lunch special on Wednesdays which is the pastrami sandwich with cole slaw and fries for $10.99. Such a deal! Izzy's pastrami is a value at $14.00 but at $10.99 it's like stealing with excellent taste! Izzy's also has fabulous soups, and some wonderful dinner specials. Open 24/7, it is one of those neighborhood gems tbhat makes living in Santa Monica so wonderful. In fact, the only thing better than the food is the service. LISTEN to your servers - none of them will let you make a poor choice. Their expertise is both part of the deal, and part of the charm! Enjoy!
You feel like you're at home. If you know East Coast deli, you know that you normally have to go to Hollywood or downtown or Beverly Hills to get at least decent facsimiles.
Thankfully, Izzy's is here for us on the west side. Go. Eat.
Izzy's had the potential to be a great deli experience with it's menu rivaling the NY greats; however the food just didn't deliver. The matzo ball soup was bland and the egg salad tatsteless. I had a grilled roast beef and cheese sandwich that was dry, tough and had very little flavor. It was very disappointing. That being said, the service was great and friendly. They just need to improve the tastiness of their food.
We have been there many times over the years, some good some bad and some in between. I have to say they seem to have improved quite a bit. The service was excellent, the food was prepared very well and seemed very fresh and the portions are still large and prices reasonable. I had the beef stew which seemed better than I've ever had it there, so who ever is in charge of the kitchen is doing a great job. And my friend also enjoyed hers very much. So I definitely recommed for late night or any time for that matter.
We were driving around town finding a late night dining restaurant and I saw this on Open Table. There was a lot of people dining inside too. I think it was about 9:30pm ish...that's late if you have kids. My daughter ended up sleeping next to me after she finished her meal.
The food was typical diner food. Not much of a variety and if you are looking for different dishes or eclectic foods, this is not the place to go.
This place is good for some home made soups and deli style, greasy sandwiches and good old fashioned homestyle appeal.
on the whole a very good experience. santa monica restaurants usually so noisy. Izzy's certainly had customers, but because of the carpeting and such..nice and peaceful, good for relaxed dining..rooming seating..very clean... excellent pea soup. great hot dog, just wish the bun had been warmer...good desserts.very good coffee. great, attentive service. will definitely go back again.
The service is amazing! The food is delicious! Will definitely go back again!
If you like a casual dinner that is quite good, try Izzy's. My wife and I usually share a small soup and an omelet. It hits the spot for a casual night out.......Add a bag of bagel chips if you like them and you will have a filling dinner for about $25 including tax and tip. Service is always good and the staff is extremely courteous. Nothing fancy, but perfect when you don't want to spend $60 to $100 for dinner.
serve fresh vegetables! forget that canned stuff............
