Sushi was tasty, but expensive for how much you get.
Food was SOOOO good. We had sushi and sashimi. We were surprised by the amount of food in the sushi & sashimi platter. Ordered that + a couple rolls and the two of us were stuffed when we left. Also, we didn’t know it was byob but there was a place to purchase right down the street - mad convenient. Gave a lower rating for ambiance only because of the noise level. Place was full and due to acoustics, it was occasionally hard to hear each other even being right across a small table from one another. I’d recommend some noise absorber measures. But noise will not prevent us for going back - Delicious!
One of my favorite places to get sushi in the city
The bathroom was filthy and there was no soap in the soap dispenser.
Super great food, server was great. Music was awful and the chef being our host was super odd considering he isn’t very personable and seems very stand offish. Amazing food as always though, still will come back even if the experience was odd
We love going here. Great prices, amazing sushi, and the service is great.
Was disappointed... the reviews were great but I thought the sushi was very average.
We were seated on time for our reservation, we ordered some sushi and some rolls, everything we had was delicious and everything else we saw come out of the kitchen looked amazing too. Friendly attentive service.
Server was in a mood. Not sure why... but he was quite short with his tone even when explaining the menu. When I asked for a clarification on a special... he just said: “that’s exactly what I just told you.” Yikes. Food was amazing tho. It was restaurant week but we didn’t order that menu.
I went for a date night on Sunday so it wasn't very busy at the time. Service quick, food was good, and the music selection was very good. When the place is full I imagine it gets pretty loud since its a smaller restaurant but definitely worth checking out. Get the rock shrimp tempura
The scallop appetizer was amazing. What really surpassed our expectations was the rib eye steak. The sushi was fresh- but not the best Ive had. My specialty roll was very small, which surprised me because I’m used to specialty rolls to be generous in size. I probably won’t go back for the sushi, but will definitely go back for the scallops and the rib eye steak.
The best sushi in Philadelphia served by a great staff.
Excellent sushi and very inventive salads!
Food menu limited and overpriced. There are so many better options for a BYO sushi joint.
Consistently quality sushi and sashimi. Excellent service.
We loved our dinner at Izumi! I can not say enough good things. The service was amazing. They made great suggestions and really went above and beyond. We were there on a Friday night and it was nice to be able to sit and finish our wine without feeling rushed out. Would suggest Izumi to any one of my friends for date night or dinner with the girls. And its BYO!
We love Izumi! The sushi is always amazing and it’s a true neighborhood gem. It is our go-to for a quick weeknight meal or a special occasion. The staff is wonderfully warm.
Hands down, some of the best sushi I've ever had.
This was our second dining experience at Izumi. Our first was on a busy Saturday night. This experience was a Sunday leading into Christmas Week. It was much quieter than our first experience. Our server was great. he immediately helped us with the Sake, wine and beer we brought. The sushi and sides arrived at a nice pace. The sushi was fresh and wonderful; the salads really good. I look forward to coming back.
Servers were friendly and helpful. Food was fantastic and a great value. We were out for a friend’s birthday and our server asked me to discreetly let him know which friend we were there celebrating so that when we ordered dessert he could bring it out with a candle. Nice touch- thank you! Izumi is quickly becoming my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood.
Food was delicious and our waiter really took care of us from a rice bowl for a picky eater to celebrating our sons 18th birthday with a candle in dessert.
My absolute favorite sushi in Philadelphia! Cannot recommend this place enough. I have been going here for years and every time it is wonderful. This restaurant’s offerings are on a whole other level from your typical sushi spot and every single dish is artfully presented and so very delicious. Don’t waste your time getting sushi from anywhere else!
Reserved a table and was given bar seating. Apart from that the food and service was good.
Quick and attentive service, excellent sushi, and awesome atmosphere! I love Izumi!
Yummy food and great service. Loud and a little pricey for the food!
The food and service was outstanding. I also loved the ambiance and vibe of the restaurant. It was very nice for a date night. The sushi was 10/10 quality. There wasn’t a lot of space so make sure you make a reservation. I will definitely be back next time I am craving sushi.
Wonderful service, delicious, and great ambiance. A great neighborhood gem for a romantic run night out.
How refreshing to enjoy a modern Japanese spot that takes itself seriously. The rolls aren’t frivolous like some of the more “inventive” places in this theme can tend towards - both the soft shell crab maki special and Kobe & gorgonzola roll stayed confidently on this side of sell-out. Overall fantastic experience, excellent service, delicious food, people who take pride in what they do. Expect nothing less in South Philly.
Our reservation was for 7:45 and at 8:45 we were told we had to leave because there was another table coming in. Although we had finished our food, which was not very fresh or high quality, we were hoping to enjoy ourselves and sit and talk. You had the impression there were just trying to turn over tables not create a nice evening out for customers.
The Ginger Chicken portion was small (but delicious)
A favorite spot of ours. Great fare , and friendly service.....
A favorite spot of mine . Always great to see Anthony and Cory. Sushi chefs are in a league by themselves ....
I love Izumi, the high quality sushi keeps me going back for more. Best sushi in South Philly.
Best sushi restaurant in Philadelphia. I’ve been here several times and they never disappoint.
It was our third time there, and arrived a little late . The staff was more than accommodating, and the food was impeccable
It was our second time there. We will be back again. Food and service were exceptional
Absolutely delicious food! The best sushi and sashimi I have had in a good minute in Philly! Ambiance is great and the lighting is low but comfortably so. Overall service was fantastic - only issue was that there was only one server on who was also our busser/runner/host. She had no support, but she held her own despite all odds against her. Note to the GM of the place is to put another person on as support if you only have one server on. as someone in the industry we totally understood why things were slower because of the lack of support that she had, not because of her efforts to be the best server she could be. Wish i got her name, but overall amazing experience. For sure will be back for more!
Delicious sushi and beautiful presentation. We will definitely return!
By far the best bang for the buck sushi in town- great people watching scene right on the square, especially if dining outside. The daily special rolls are always impressive and tasty! Tony is incredibly knowledgeable and pleasant!
