   Ambiance was very nice. Food was well prepared and preparation was amazing but it didn't really have true Japanese flavor. Service was excellent from everyone we interacted except our main server. He wasn't the most attentive.

   Did a date in the tatami section. 2 people ordering as we pleased until full ran me 185 including the tip. Every plate was superb, all the way down to dessert. Nigiri is two pieces per order, beautifully flavorful. Be prepared to spend, and to enjoy doing it.

   Fabulous food, service. We sat at the sushi bar and had wonderful service from the sushi chef and the waiter. Expensive but high quality products. Can’t wait to go back!

   This was not what I expected, but I blame myself for not digging a bit deeper into the menu and the place before I booked. The waiter told us it was not so much a Japanese Restaurant as a Japanese-inspired restaurant. They did not serve sushi per se. They either had the fish alone, or a few selections in the Nigiri style, but not maki rolls. The four robed and slipper-shod gentlemen at the next table were also a little weird. They couldn't bother to get dressed for dinner?

    Izanami's food and sake were nothing short of spectacular. The setting, with the walk up through rain dampened trees, the tatami mats and low tables, made the experience feel as close to authentic as you could get. I almost felt I was back in Japan. The wait staff were attentive, informative, and personable. We were allowed to stay a long as we wanted and did not feel rushed at all. Considering the amount of food and saki, the price was reasonable. Highly recommend.

    Excellent food; best we have had in Santa Fe. We ate outside, and that's the way to go: very nice Japanese structure with cool lamps, plenty of heat, etc. Great service.

    Room: Excellent Food: Too much sugar in most items. To please the American palate? I don't remember that in Japan and certainly not in Berkeley/SF CA. Very disappointing!

    Amazing food. Beautiful location. Great service. It was raining and we had a table outside and they were so accommodating with blankets and heaters - really went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable.

    Always such a pleasure to eat at Izanami. Mateo ( the sake sommelier) knows a lot about sake and always ready to help. No matter what you order you will be surprised at the great subtle flavor ic every dish.

    It was a lovely evening. Everyone enjoyed the food. The birthday gentleman requested Izanami. We all agreed, the flavors of all the goods were perfect. After a number of visits, we can confirm the food is perfection and always consistent!

    The sake selection is extensive and excellent. The creativity of the dishes makes it worth trying many and sharing. The staff know their food and beverage selections very well and are able to provide very helpful recommendations. Highly recommend.

    It was my second time dining here and just like last time, the food was beyond amazing. We got the sweet pea croquettes, the pork belly tacos, and the wagyu tomahawk steak. Every bite was to die for! Our server was also friendly and knowledgeable, completing our great experience. Can’t wait to come back!

    We've been to Izanami many times, and have always enjoyed it. This time, we brought our friends who were visiting from New York. They are obsessed with all things Japanese, and we hoped that Izanami would meet their standards. We all enjoyed everything we ordered (which was a lot!) and they were hugely impressed. We had a fantastic evening and our friends said they almost believed we were in Japan for a few hours.

    The stone bowl the bibimpap came in wasn't hot enough so the rice didn't crisp on the bottom. Also, there were chunks of citrus zest in the ice cream that were bitter and off-putting. Would have been better to have the essence of citrus without the chunks.

    My boyfriend and I both agreed that this was the best meal we had ever had. The setting was beautiful, the flavors were unbelievable, and our server Keith was phenomenal. My boyfriend loves fish, and I am a vegan. The menu offered plentiful options to treat the both of us. The tofu age dish was both of our favorites. I would recommend this experience to anyone.

    We love this restaurant. All food was scrumptious. Have always ordered rare bone in wagu 32 oz. ribeye steak. Our friends preferred medium rare. Too done for us. Should have known better based on us ordering rare all previous times. Still enjoyable. Shrimp tempura always a winner. Sashimi perfect. Still our number 1 favorite place in Santa Fe.
