We saw the website and found the place enticing (original food cool decor) but we were bitterly disappointed. The food was mediocre, the service not attentive. All I can say is 'don't go by the looks of a website' (very deceitful in this case).
We will never go back.
Great quality good value Japanese bites, run by Koreans. I lived in Tokyo for 4 years, and feels pretty "real". It's my favorite izakaya in the flatiron area.
Not great, much better yakitori and izakaya restaurants out there. Tables were sooo small. Also run by Koreans not Japanese, so not very authentic izakaya food.
Extremely disappointed after hearing about such great reviews. Some dishes that were noted as shareable or entree size where not accurate. Pricing was very high for other izakaya in the area with better quality (i.e. Yellow tail entree was $15 for 5 pieces of sashimi, didn't seem that fresh). After we received most of our order in a reasonable fashion we had asked about our skewer order and waited 30 mins for our server to say that he forgot to place the skewer order. Disappointed we didn't want anything else or to wait for him to place it at that point. We had asked for some sort of compensation on the bill but said all he could do was give us ice cream. Though a nice gesture, still left not taken care of. The server tried but I wish he would have at least checked with his manager or something. Unfortunately will not be back.
Fantastic, interesting and totally tasty. Really enjoyed the vibe and our evening experience.
Really yummy food. Great service. Small booths for 4 though.
Food wasn't great at all. Felt like a late night, post-drinking college stop.
Compared to all NYC izakaya's the food here is mediocre. Service is fast and friendly and there were a few bites that were good (including the complimentary sweet potato shoestring fries)
Izakaya is a great place to go for their cuisine and their sushi. We usually go there after theater on our way home and rarely can enjoy their sushi but even that is outstanding. Brought a friend and it didn't fail me. He'll be going for more. Hope they keep it up.
Delicious! Everything we ate (shrimp shumai, seaweed salad, seared tuna, Squid, octopus salad, shrimp roll) was outstanding. Fresh and creative food. We ate there before a show-walking distance to the theater distance. Highly recommend.
Group of friends. They had a disco theme where the staff dressed up in 80s outfits and played Michael Jackson era music. My 1st time at Asian tapas place. I would go again.
Everything was absolutely delicious. Can't go wrong whatever you order.
This place is amazing! Awesome food, super friendly staff....
We had a phenomenal meal for 12; our reservation was delayed due to a prior group's extended meal, but the restaurant was accommodating in comping some of our meal charges. The food was excellent. It was a bit hard to gauge portions for a large group, and the servers were very nice but not equipped to make suggestions on that front. All in all, we had a wonderful time and I'd definitely go back!
They have a communal table which is great for the group dining/friends get together. The prices are reasonable and many comfort foods to choose from.
Food was great! Service was lacking in the very beginning. We did not get our order taken until 20mins after sitting. It wasn't even that busy yet so I was confused as to the delay. However, once order was taken, food came out pretty fast.
This was our 5 visit. It has now become our go to sushi when we come into town to visit our daughter. Service is always very attentive. Sushi is fresh and full of flavor. The specialty rolls are very good, we had the nomad roll, and rainbow roll, along with spicy salmon. All delicious. Our usual appetizers are gyoza, Edamame, good but edamame portion for 4 was a little small. Ongiri was split by my husband and daughter and they said it was very tasty and filling. It has obviously been discovered because we now need reservations even on a week night.
Cooked food was very good. Sushi was just OK.
The food here is outstanding and the sushi rolls are huge! They also have some lovely wines on their menu. This is just nitpicking, but is worth noting. We were there early (5:50pm) and we ordered 3 starter bites. They came out one after the other, but probably over the course of 20 minutes or more. And they're small bites, so being hungry, it was an unusual not to get all the plates at once or close to each other. Perhaps this is how they serve, but it was strange. The sushi was fresh and fantastic. The specialty rolls are the way to go. So delicious, but then, everything was delicious. Definitely going back.
Love coming to this place food is always good and not too expensive so if I want to try something new and I don't like it not too much money is wasted. Service kinda gets lost because of how busy it always is but the food still always comes out quick and delicious
This is a great place to have a few drinks and enjoy an assortment of Japanese food. The skewers were great, love the beef short rib and the mushroom wrapped in bacon. Expect to have a number of dishes as the portions aren't huge, but the selection and quality is great. Never had any complaints on the service either. They have a great selection of Sake and beer.
This place is really great for small groups (4-6) open to trying different things. We've been here twice and both times we ordered for the table. We usually share a bunch of skewers (2 skewers per order), dumplings, some random things the waiter recommends, a main and one or two rolls.
Everything we've tried has been delicious. And they have my favorite Nigori Sake here. Ends up being a pretty inexpensive meal, and you actually leave full!
One of my favorite spots in NYC. Eclectic menu with a fantastic staff. It's one of my regular spots.
Great atmosphere for NYE! And great food
Sashimi is wonderful.
Have been here several times, alway a pleasure. The food is solid, the staff fun, always a good night at Izakaya NoMad.
Great place for food sharing and hanging out with friends. Really tasty food. Seating is cramped and service slows down a bit when it gets buys but overall very good place.
Nicely decorated, cozy spot. Plenty of choices within the menu to satiate any palate.
It's all good. Great food great service laid back. I'll be back
Fantastic food! Great service! Wonderful deals and pricing! Whenever I travel to New York City, Izakaya Nomad is a MUST!!! Try the bacon wrapped mochi and the rice balls!!! Wonderful!
Total disappointment. Very, very limited sushi menu. No miso soup. Very few standard Japanese offerings. Alcohol was $$ even for NYC. Our whole party was very disappointed since we were celebrating my father's birthday.
everything was delicious - very fresh. everyone was gracious, kind and attentive. very energetic ambiance - much fun!
Nice jap restaurant, good fish. A little noisy. I'd come back in next travel to NY
I've been here a few times bringing another set of friends each time for them to try. Everyone enjoyed the food with quick service. I personally like a quieter dining experience but this is a bar/pub like establishment so it's dark and can get kind of loud with the music.
Terrible service - staff knocked over tray of sauce and didn't bother cleaning it up. Had to flag down people to do everything: provide water, refill water glasses, to order food, etc. Food was fine, but nothing amazing.
This place is cute and great for those trying to convince friends who haven't tried sushi to slowly make the transition.
Down side is the sushi (including sashimi) menu stops at a certain time. This sucks because who want Japanese food without sushi!
Cute place and needs to change that rule.
Our reservation was canceled 30 mins prior to dining. No call was made. Received an email from OpenTable app at time of departure, heading to restaurant
music a bit loud but food and service were tremendous
I was excited about this place, and there was some good food, but the dishes were very hit or miss. The service was forgetful and luckily they didn't charge us for the items we ordered that never arrived. For the $300 tab for 4 people, I expected more.
