IVY Ratings and Reviews
Went for valentine’s day:
We had a 7:30 reservation and arrived at 7:15. The staff let us sit at the bar until i approached them.
- Bar drink are fair ... not so good
- food is fair
- service poor
- over priced
I suggest avoiding this place, i will never go back.
ivy is a gem in the western suburbs. Such a beautiful venue with beyond delicious food and a waitstaff who know how to do the job to perfection. This has become our new "go-to" place for any occasion, be it casual or special. I've been spreading the word to friends and family with plans to return there soon myself.
We always enjoy the ambiance of IVY. The setting is always great. Overall the service was very good and our waiter was attentive. We did have to send one of the meals back as the steak was ordered medium rare and it arrived well done. Our server agreed and immediately sent it back. It was unfortunate that one of our guests had to wait 15 minutes for the new steak to arrive. It put a little damper on the overall evening. If something like that occurs at other higher end restaurants, some action is taken to rectify this. Nothing was offered and we did not ask. None the less, I would go back but was slightly disappointed with this latest visit.
The food-as always-was exceptional: delicious, beautifully presented, and every bite fantastic. The service is prompt, friendly, and attentive. The ambiance is lovely. From the balcony you can peek into the well-organized and spotless kitchen. One of my favorite restaurants anytime, anyplace (and I am quite picky, having worked my way through college in restaurants.)
This place is fantastic. The owner walks around to make sure things are done properly. The wait staff is attentive. The walleye is unbelievable as well as the salads. The wines are pricey but good. There is a bar area or great seating in the main hall. The place is very unique inside. Try it and you will like it.
The ambiance is definitely the best part of the dining experience at Ivy. The prices are not bad, when compared to other high-end restaurants and steak houses. Unfortunately, the food really didn't WOW me. The steak and shrimp were pretty mediocre. The cut was good on the steak, but the flavors were really nothing special. The best part of my meal was the Marlborough Sav Blanc wine.
I've been to Ivy many times, this past Friday's dinner was a disappointment. My party of 4 was placed upstairs at the railing, enduring all the noise that rises from the lower level and a constant stream of people walking by our table on their way to and from the washroom. The two orders of steaks that were to be grilled medium were far closer to rare. All the entrees were only warm when served, after a very long wait. We had two servers, which caused confusion. Obviously, the crowd was too much for the owner and staff to handle, negatively affecting the more typical quality.
Excellent restaurant in Wheaton, IL. The setting is unique, as it was a former chapel, so there are stained glass windows, a high ribbed ceiling and other interesting features. The food is delicious. As an appetizer, the tuna bruschetta was a winner. We had crab-stuffed tilapia, barbecued ribs, and a salmon salad and everyone raved about their entrees. The blueberry crisp and vanilla creme brûlée for dessert were excellent. We would all go back to try different items on the menu!
Loved the beautiful building, plus the patio looks great for warmer months! Ivy has great options for starters, along with many meat and fish choices. The front bar looks very warm and inviting; the server of our table was wonderful. They crafted a multitude of delicious drinks for my table and I loved my hot chocolate cocktail. Comfortable place for those with less adventurous dining habits, while piquing my interest in experimental culinary desires. Happy to say that my family wants to make Ivy a regular location they dine at.
Went for dinner to celebrate a birthday. We had reservations and were seated promptly. They honored our request to sit near the charming fireplace. It was an early dinner so it was not very busy but I noticed that the wait staff was very attentive to us and all the tables nearby. Our group had a variety of steak dinners with soups and salads. All were prepared to the right temperature and were very flavorful. We enjoyed drinks from a nice (but not overwhelming) wine list but skipped dessert although we were enticed by the choices. Overall, we had a great visit. We'll be back!
Overall good experience, the food was served fast and warm. We had gotten there after other tables but had gotten our food before them which we hadn't minded given the occasion. The restaurant was quiet and cozy perfect for a Monday night dinner. The staff was nice and wished us a Happy Anniversary. We had eaten relatively fast and by the time we had finished we were waiting for the check for a couple of minutes looking for our waitress. I had been there previously and had the same problem, but it wasn't anything to be concerned about. Overall, great meal and would visit again. I highly recommend the crab cakes.
