The site itself is impressive. It was built in 1928 as a funeral parlor, and has a fabulous stained glass window at the west end (imported from Germany in 1928). The vaulted ceiling adds much ambiance to the site.
Service has always been excellent on our previous visits, and this was no exception. The lamb chops were exceptional, the Maryland crab cakes were good. The ribs were a little bit disappointing. The deserts are fantastic, and their tapas size makes having two a delight. We had creme brulee, and the key lime deserts, and both were delicious.
It's a bit pricey, but for special occasions, or just a great experience once in awhile, it's a hard place to beat! And there are definitely reasonably priced items on the menu as well.
The food was outstanding! Service also attentive yet unobtrusive. We brought our own wine, which is allowed for a 20!dollar corking fee. We had a great time. Highly recommended.
Very nice service and great food
Decent food - bit overpriced. Service was outstanding and ambiance was very nice. For a special night out consider giving ivy a try
Great! Fantastic space. Good food. Reasonable prices.
Have been to Ivy many times over the years and have enjoyed it every time. The food is creative without being weird and is always prepared to your liking. The service is attentive and professional. It's a great place for a special occasion but also for a quiet dinner with friends. It is a Wheaton gem.
Excellent as always! Ruth was a fantastic server and our food was exceptional.
Great food and service. The tuna and pork wing appetizers were excellent. So too the horseradish crusted filet. And they were very friendly and kind — we came in wearing college type clothes and they treated us like we were dressed for fine dining. We plan to go back.
We are returning customers to Ivy so we had expectations from our other visits. The entrees are very good and diverse. All types of meat and fish are represented on the menu. There are also some pasta dishes .We were seated by a party of about 12, so it was probably louder than usual. Ivy offers a variety of small desserts for $3.00 each. They are difficult to pass up. We were pleasantly surprised to see the back-lit menus. It was the first time we experienced this and hope more restaurants do the same .
We celebrated an anniversary here and were pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and quality of the food. The standout was the andouille sausage meatloaf, topped with redskin mash and onion straws. Service was a bit slow for a Sunday afternoon but I appreciated not feeling rushed. Many tables of customers were greeted by servers so that shows a nice customer base. The dessert selection offered petite and more indulgent sizes. We had the petite Budino (Italian custard), and it was a wonderful wrap up to the meal. Will definitely be back.
I have been here many times and really enjoyed it. This time we sat by the fireplace which was really nice. The service was barely existent. From the time I sat down until I had to ask for my check, our server never came to our table without me having to search for her. Customer service makes or breaks a meal for me.
Ivy as always is stellar! Great food, would like to see a wider wine list. Great value and excellent service.
My mom and I had lunch at Ivy and enjoyed it very much. I had the crab cake appetizer and soup, while she had a truffle burger and soup. Both of us really enjoyed our lunch very much. Anytime we could go to Ivy it is a really nice experience even though there is a lot of construction outside. It is worth it!
You have to try this place! One of the best in a long time! Food, service and ambiance were all excellent!
A true gem of a restaurant in downtown Wheaton. Tremendous menu. Excellent attentive staff.friendly non pretentious atmosphere. Unique venue with stained glass ornamentation, having been a funeral home at one time. Have been to Ivy many times. Never disappointed. Highly recommended for special occasions or just plain going out on spur of the moment
Great! Loved it!
It was our first time at Ivy, and we were impressed! I'm not sure if I'm more impressed with the food or with the service! Our server, Michael, was amazing. He gave us very honest feedback on menu items, and convinced me to change my order to a dish I hadn't even considered previously. I'm glad I took his recommendation, because my dinner was incredible! The only thing I wish had been different is I wish we'd been seated in the main dining area as opposed to a small atrium area, because the main dining room is beautiful and I wish I'd gotten to see a bit more of it! But that definitely did not ruin our evening. Looking forward to returning!
Normally I love their food but this time I tried the Oktoberfest menu and I wasn’t that pleased with it. Would not do it again . I would go again and order from regular menu
We were asked by the waitress to move from our table to accommodate the homecoming party. We would have had no problem moving from our table but the manner in which we were told( not asked) was improper. We should have been notified about the large party. We left as it ruined our evening. And it was my birthday effectively ruining our evening out.
Outstanding place with great atmosphere however, Oktoberfest food fell short. Hostess was not pleasant when we arrived late even though most tables were empty at 5pm. Service was very good. We can were sensitive to our late arrival so did not linger after being served.
Have eaten at Ivy many times which means I really like. Loved our waiter, Casey.
Wonderful food! Was there with a party of six and everyone loved their food. The lamb chops are the best have ever had.
We had a wonderful server Thursday afternoon, a young lady who anticipated our every need. Great place!
We moved out to area 4 years ago. Our experience left us wondering why we did dine here sooner! The food was excellent and the service was top notch. We would definitely dine here again!
The restaurant was not crowded but the noise level was excessive. We could not easily hear the waitress explaining the special's for the night. The food was good but pricey. We don't mind paying higher prices for exceptional ambiance and food but this was not it. We will not return.
First experience at Ivy. Great food, service and ambience. A little noisy but it was crowded...which is a good thing for ownets. Will definitely return!
Been here before with good results. This time was quite the opposite. Noisy and seated by kitchen (celebrating our 28th anniversary). Filet was not initially cooked to request. Server took filet back and they over cooked beyond recognition. My wife had to eat by herself while they fixed mine (or tried to fix). Very disappointing.
The pork chops were excellent as well as the Walleye. The new twice baked potatoes are well prepared and delicious. The wait staff was well coordinated with the new chef. As always the valet parking is nice in case you have a disability.
Our food was excellent. Our server was very accommodating and attentive.
This is not my first experience with Ivy and every time I have enjoyed the meal and been pleased with the ambiance and service.
We enjoy the patio. However, that evening it was raining, so we were seated in the main dining room. It smelled old & musty. Need to change it up with some air quality & freshness. Other than that, food was delicious.
Ivy had potential, but it didn't hold up. The food wasn't bad, and we had a fantastic waitress. Unfortunately the hostesses left something to be desired. We made a reservation well in advance and arrived on time. We requested to be seated inside, but the hostess showed us to an outdoor table. When we asked again to be inside, she put us at the worst possible table - right near the door to the patio and in front of an extremely loud busing station. Apparently servers at Ivy really love to throw dishes around because the amount of clatter was ridiculous. I enjoyed my steak, but my husband's was overcooked. And apparently the restaurant complained to OpenTable that we didn't show up for our reservation. I think it was more like the restaurant chose to ignore our reservation, hence the terrible table. I doubt we will return.
Food was good and fairly priced. Drinks were sub par. Seemed pretty light on the alcohol. I’m not sure the bartender knows how to make a Cosmo. Small dessert portions were a nice touch
The Tilapia was good however the lobster scoop did not have much flavor and was only warm. The beer batter chicken was very juicy and well prepared. The green beans were a little over cooked and very oily. Service was great. Maybe the food sat to long.
Parking was easy and the place was very busy.
need to tighten up service. courses came out on top of each other and server missed on condiments and follow up.
Friday evening on the patio. Could not have been more enjoyable!
The lighted menus are such a great idea. It is a bit dim/romantic as many restaurants are, but this solved the problem of not being able to read menus in such circumstances. Kudos to the person who came up with such a great idea!
Overall a lovely ladies' lunch at Ivy with a varied menu, beautiful presentations, attentive service. We will be returning.
An absolute gem! We had heard about the beautiful ambience inside, but spent our evening in the quaint patio. The food was excellent and service was fabulous. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We visited on a Monday evening. Only 2 servers were working the main floor/main dining room. Wait times were long. We ordered 2 different salads and a cheddar burger. The beet salad was delicious, but the crab cakes were just OK. Tiny with too much breading in the mix, very little crab. The burger was small and very well done. No cheese at all! Not what I was expecting for a $45 meal. Not sure, but I think I would only recommend this place for appetizers and drinks out on the patio. Haven't been here in many years--now I am remembering maybe why we don't visit.
The food was great and the building is truly unique as it was a former chapel/funeral home.
Very good food with a varied menu. We were upstairs and the service was a bit challenged, but nice experience overall and we will be back again.
