Ivar's Salmon House
Book your next event with us
Whenever we have out of town guests we always include The Salmon House as one of our stops.
Ivar’s Salmon House is always a birthday stop for both of us!
We not only enjoy the great view of the Salmon House but often enjoy stopping at Ivars on Aurora when we are out shopping.
Good food and service. Very large restaurant with parking.
Would not hesitate to come back
We went to Ivar’s Salmon House 2 nights in a row. That’s how good it is! The shrimp and crab Louie is exceptional, as is the Salmon Sampler.
I love the location and setting of this restaurant but the food is always disappointing. The tuna was dry, the bok choy was oily, the rice was a solid lump and there was not enough sauce on my dish. The portion size was dismal for the price.
Amazing service. Amazing food. A little pricey. I would definitely recommend for anyone wanting a NW seafood experience.
We booked a table for 10 to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary for my aunt and uncle. The staff were very helpful, gave us the best table they could for a table that size, and were attentive during the meal. The grilled salmon was amazing. It was a nice place to celebrate.
How many places are this full on a Tuesday? There's a lot to keep folks coming back, my King crab legs were AMAZING!!!!! I think that our waitperson should have had more help because she was running at full steam to keep up with all her tables. I'm suggesting that you promote the busboys to take care of filling water glasses and removing some dishes from the tables so the wait folks don't have so many jobs to do, otherwise my family had a great time and we're looking forward to when we return
What a great experience! The Salmon trio sampler was delicious👍😁
Overall, we had very nice dinner experience. The view from our dinning table was quite spectacular
Beautiful restaurant. One diner's salmon portion was on the skimpy side but otherwise all was very delicious.
We took east coast friends to dinner the other night. While the view is stunning, our meals were nothing special and were not very warm.
We thought the food was overpriced and not very interesting.
Our waiter was friendly but not knowledgeable about the menu.
We won’t be returning.
We enjoy entertaining our family and friends at Ivar's Salmon House.
We especially enjoy our outstanding waiter named Markus who always aims to go above and beyond. Need to add more seafood choices to appetizer menu.
We were in town to find an apartment for our son. We wanted fresh, simply prepared fish. We highly recommend Ivar’s Salmon House. We all loved it. We had the Taste of the Northwest and the Salmon Sampler. Both were incredible.
Our server was very patient and funny at the same time. I came in with a large group of doctors who are applying for our fellowship program and are from all over the nation. They enjoyed the food and the service!
I always take visitors to Ivar's Salmon House for lunch. Unfortunately, the rush hour traffic is terrible in that area so I recommend lunch and evening meals. Food is great and a good wine selection. I am a Salmon and Halibut lover and I live about 1 mile away.
I had such a good time I came back the next evening with a different family member to celebrate her birthday. Advice to future diners: The blueberry shortcake is delicious and it's so big you can plan to share it with somebody!
This luncheon was a reunion of 5 of my senior college roommates and their husbands. Some came from Oregon, and none of them had been to the Salmon House. They were totally impressed and plan to take their grown children and families back to the Salmon House.
Our waiter, Hesus (Spelling) was just delightful--friendly but not pushy--seemed interested in each of us. He added a great deal to our outing.
I have been to this restaurant many times, so I knew they would enjoy.
Ivars is a great, lively restaurant with nice views, interesting decor and generally pleasant staff. The food is good. It's not gourmet, but it is very very good seafood. I don't give it a 5 in any category because I compare it to other restaurants that are better in every way! (Ray's Boathouse) But 4 stars is just great! I wish the potatoes were not so dry, I wish the wait staff were a little better on service and less focused on "entertainment", I wish the prices were $5 less per dish, and that the noise level were down by 50 decibels... but that is 5 star territory.... Enjoy yourself here - it's a nice night out for a group.
Fantastic! When relatives from out of town come to visit, Ivars Salmon House is always on my list of go-to places. Friendly knowledgeable staff, quick service, great food, great view. What not to like?
Heck, I go there without out of town visitors for all the same reasons.
Nice restaurant with fun decor and fabulous view. Our food was good but not over the top great. Noise level was low. Nice place for groups.
We came for brunch, but learned later brunch dead. Bring back the brunch please!
Enjoyed to love all building as be nice We will go see you later and pretty of lake union
Ivar's outdoor patio barge offered great views of the city and boats. The servers were attentive and patient allowing for as leisurely or quick of service as we desired. A truly enjoyable experience with delicious food and drinks!
Ivar's has wonderful ambiance, and usually excellent food, and the value is good considering the high quality of the food. Usually the service is just fine, but I happened upon the worst service of my life yesterday. I wonder if it was an untrained waiter's first day? He seemed to not have a clue about how to wait. He was slow, and didn't smile, but worst of all, he didn't understand serving timing. Instead of getting a bread basket and wine while we waited, we were served salad and soup first and had to ask for the wine and bread. One person's salad was not served at salad time, and we got an extra chowder, which he ended up comping. We all got confused and he asked for payment right after our meal, never asked about dessert, which we wanted. Distracted, we told him who was paying for the birthday girl. He got that messed up and put the birthday girl on the wrong ticket. We asked him to do it over and reminded him that we wanted dessert. He served dessert without the coffee we ordered. I reminded him of the lack of coffee and he said he'll get it, but then went to wait on the next table. So my ice cream was completely eaten by the time I got coffee, which I wanted to enjoy the mixture of flavors with. We asked 3 times to get a box to take uneaten food home. We ended up giving him a normal, but not great tip, since he ended up comping dessert and coffee. I think Ivar's lost money on this one. Ivar's you have an untrained waiter! And then Open Table, wrote me and said Ivar's said we didn't show up for our reservation and gave me a lecture about how a restaurant loses money when you don't make an appointment. So here's a lecture back about not-up-to-par service. I'd still recommend Ivar's as the service usually isn't this poor.
We took our relatives from NY for dinner at Ivar’s & they loved the salmon. View was awesome!!
I love the view on Lake Union, along with the ambiance of the Long House. However, our salmon was overcooked, and everything else was okay, but not great. My advice? Come here for drinks and snacks, enjoy the view, and go somewhere else for dinner.
Beautiful setting and good service
I'd recommend with qualifications. We had a wonderful wait person who took gentle care of my elderly Mom. But, We had to continually ask for things like coffee and vegan menus and they were stingy with both?!. I understand that this is a difficult time in the restaurant business, but when we got there it was not crowded and when I asked someone, who I later figured out was not our waitperson, for some coffee they looked annoyed. coffee arrived about 10 minutes later, my cocktail even later even though I'd ordered them at the same time.
3 of the four fish dishes were VERY dry/overcooked. The Salmon House has a strong reputation, but we hit them on a bad night.
I’m not sure how you manage to overcook halibut and salmon - they’re easy to cook properly. But that wasn’t all. The mashed potatoes were cold and thick, my rice was dry, and the peach/plum salsa was withered and flavorless.
The appetizers were fine (seared tuna - fresh & brightly dressed, and the mini crab cakes). But not a single aspect of ANY of the entrees was enjoyable to eat.
A shockingly bad series of servings. Great restaurants, even very good ones, don’t blow it this badly across four dishes - even on a bad night.
I predict this place will be closed within a year if they don't hire a manager with passion for service. Dirty glasses replaced with broken ones. I watched 2 servers with dirty shirts. Unbuttoned shirts. No smiles. 0 sense of service or personality. Apparently the candle had to be lit in the middle of our dinner. The food was good. Priced according to the location and quality, but with the current level and quality of service the food is soon to not be enough. This is a landmark location that deserves better.
Interior really feels like the inside of a traditional log house. A seat by the window is quite nice as you can watch the seaplanes land and take off from the lake. There's also a nice view of the Space Needle. The food is always pretty good, however the halibut and scallops were room temperature and really should have been hot as the food came out pretty quickly.
Always an excellent place to bring guests, especially out of country guests, for a fresh and tasty seafood dinner with a spectacular waterside view.
Birthday dinner, we sat in the bar for padded seats and happy hour. It was great, very busy that night, Thursday.
What a view and what a unique art filled place. Wife had delicious salmon. I had Crab Luis salad, the real thing, but there were bits of sea shell in it.
We had a wonderful time. We did’t get the window table I requested, however we did have a table with a view. Thank you for letting this be a dining experience without blaring music!!!!
A native longhouse setting with incredible collection of native art, carvings and canoes inside and beautiful views of the canal. A perfect place to enjoy seafood!
I go to Ivar's Acres of Clams at least twice a year with a friend for our bdays. We take advantage of happy hour which used to have much better deals. This visit to the Salmon House was for my mom's bday as she gets a coupon every year for a free entree with the purchase of one. Our waitress was nice and did a good job. The food was good (not outstanding) but was very expensive, especially for what it was. I had called ahead to see if I could bring in a pie for my mom and they said that was no problem. I ordered ice cream for everyone except myself but I got charged for one. I assume someone else in my group didn't get charged but I didn't pursue it.
A long, violent lightning storm hit while we were there which was exciting to watch from our window seat. All in all our experience was funusual!
This is one of my favorite restaurants. I love the view and the fish and chips are the best in the world. I have been a regular for decades and hope to continue for a few more.
Great place to show off city skyline to out of town guests
